Why do you have 8s instead of B’s/gen

It's a Homestuck typing quirk! I'm Vriska-kin (as in, I literally 8elieve I was her in a past life) and that's how she types, so that's what I do too.

Typing like that also has the advantage of keeping my own identity somewhat secret, as this is not how I type on my other socials. I get threats of violence on this 8log almost daily, and it keeps me just a little 8it more anonymous.

i dunno about ableist, but as an autistic person who has trouble with social cues “read the room” has always felt very hostile towards me. just my two cents

Yeah I’m ADHD and i totally understand that, it was the “ableist” part that kinda had me like “wait what??”

For context in my carrd it’s about how I was raised Jewish and so people should read the room and get out if they think “ironic” antisemitic jokes are okay.

I don’t know who needs to hear this today but your identity isn’t discourse.

If you’re trans, even without dysphoria, you’re trans. You don’t have to justify it to people.

If you’re aromantic or asexual, you don’t have to explain your relationships (or lack thereof) to anyone.

If you’re demisexual or demiromantic, your experiences are your own any nobody but you gets to decide whether you’re right or wrong about them.

If you prefer to use microlabels, you don’t need to use broader umbrella terms to make other people more comfortable.

Your identity is your own. You are not a debate subject.

Wanna take a quick second to point out that trans and queer folks are not obliged to change their vocabulary for you, and if a trans or queer person wants to call themselves "queer," "transsexual," whatever, that's not your call.

"Common best use" vocabulary changes but trans people are entitled to the labels that they are comfortable with.

When I introduce myself as queer and you say, "you can't use that!", what I hear is that you don't like the way I define myself and you want to proscribe some other label for me. A label that I didn't agree to and don't want anything to do with, and that doesn't describe me or my lived experiences as well.

Critique transphobes, critique cis people if they misuse terms offensively, but do not get into a trans person's space and tell them their chosen labels are wrong.

It is also especially important to realize a lot of our trans elders identify as transsexual, so when you're spreading the rhetoric of "If you're trans don't call yourself transsexual" you are directly hurting trans elders who have fought longer than most of us have been here. Marsha P. Johnson (yes, white liberals who heard "The First Pride Was A Riot" and haven't stopped saying it since, that Marsha P. Johnson) herself identified as a transvestite. You don't get to pick and choose how someone identifies, and that's not up for debate.
