Ere leaned against the door. Not too discreet, but she was trying to listen in.

“Ms. Grayson?” she called through the door. “Are you doing alright?”

She peeked through the door. “Amanda, he’s your husband. I don’t think you should be afraid to share your insecurities.”

Amanda sniffled lightly. “I don’t want him to carry the blame for this, he always does. I love him too much to let it happen again.”

Again? Her eyebrows raised with curiosity. “What happened?”

“Just more and more people talking about how he’s a failure and a traitor for marrying me. I hate when he hears things like that, because he’s hearing it due to loving me. He’s more Vulcan than most of them. Embracing IDIC in ways that they never would,” she said, wiping her eyes.

“Mrs. Grayson, welcome aboard Discovery. I’m Commander Landry,” she began. Diplomatic duties were far from her favorite, but command had ordered Discovery to transport the ambassador and his wife to a peace conference.

“I can escort you to your and Ambassador Sarek’s quarters if you would like.” She offered Mrs. Grayson her arm to help her off the transporter pad.

Amanda smiled. “Thank you for the welcome, Commander Landry. Thank you, I would like to be taken to our quarters,” she replied, taking Landry’s arm and stepping off the pad.

Landry smiled. “Of course. This way,” she said leading Dr. Grayson out of the transporter room and down the hallway.

“The Discovery is a Crossfield class ship,” Landry began the spiel she had told to tell guests. “She primarily functions as a science vessel. She was built in… Do you actually care? I’d love to stop saying this.”

Amanda chuckled lightly. “I did read up on all the information regarding the vessel. You may make whatever conversation you wish. Or none at all, either way is fine with me,” she replied. She looked around the ship and nodded slowly. It was well built, and being a science vessel was something that she liked to see. She hoped though that it would never have to go against its purpose and see a battle.
