Look After You
condvctssong
The traffic was not a big help on weekend, and Seungho had been trapped on the street for at least an hour. The pizza he brought and placed on the passenger’s side might have turned cold. He tapped on the steering wheel impatiently, somehow feeling anxious about not hearing anything from Seunghoon all day. Even when everything seemed going well, Seungho couldn’t feel at ease because it involved his younger brother. He had no other choice to pick a detour because the traffic drove him insane. Soonhee might be crying if he didn’t get home on time.
A quick run from the basement and the elevator lobby when he finally arrived at the apartment complex was enough to exhaust him. The change of the floor buttons made him feeling giddy, as if he wasted time for having a scheduled meeting with his therapist. The lack of information of Soonhee well being caused him to panic. He wanted to get out of the suffocating metal box quickly. When it finally stopped, Seungho swiftly picked up his remaining energy to sprint toward his door. But the moment he stood there, there was no wailing coming from the inside. It was strange, even though he should’ve taken it as a good sign that Seunghoon could be trustable for once. He punched the code word and stepped in, calling out for his daughter.
“Soonhee, I’m home!”
There was only silence welcoming him.
“…Seunghoon?!”
This isn’t good.
He slipped his heels off the shoes and stopped at a pair of Converse he didn’t see when he left the house that morning. Seungho ground his teeth, getting sullen by the fact that his brother dared to invite his friend home without asking his permision. He stomped his feet into the messy living room–just like his prediction–but nobody replied to his call out yet. The kitchen was empty and there were only empty bottles of juices in the trashbin. If Seunghoon starved his daughter, Seungho would make sure his brother wouldn’t let him leave his apartment that night. He took off his jacket and placed it on the couch, the cold pizza box on the table as he cleaned up the toys and crumbs from the floor. When he was distracted enough by the housework, there was a thud sound coming from Soonhee’s room. Seungho turned his head toward the source and made his way in to the bedroom. It was dark when he stood on the door way, but his sight clearly captured a figure of Soonhee–and someone who was not Seunghoon.
His fingers blindly looked for the light switch on the wall, while his mind was wandering wildly of the body in long hair resting on his baby’s bed. He blinked as the light’s barged in, and caught the familiar bright blue hair lying down next to his daughter, sleeping soundly. He didn’t know a lot of people with blue hair, and it had not been that long since he met Haeri in that restaurant. Seungho frowned and wondered how she ended up in his house, instead of his irresponsible younger brother whose existence was zero in that hour.
For a second, Haeri thought she had heard a voice. A similar yet different one from Seunghoon’s. But it only took her a second to shake the thought off and sighed softly, ready to drift back into sleep. The room was completely dark and even if it was a little strange to be laying there, in that small bed, with Soonhee’s head on her arm, it wasn’t completely uncomfortable. The little girl was like an angel so far and Haeri had found interesting her reaction every time she changed her voice to match with the character in the story she was reading her. Maybe being an aunt wouldn’t be so bad. But babies were a whole other story than a kid around Soonhee’s age.
And it seemed like sleep would have to wait for later. She sensed a presence and the ceiling lamp bathed the room into a bright light that officially woke her up. Haeri opened her eyes slowly, careful to remind herself not to rub them as she wore her thick eyeliner and didn’t want to look like a mess if Seunghoon decided to pull a prank on her.
Except once her eyes adjusted to the light, it wasn’t Seunghoon who was standing in the doorway of the child’s bedroom. Instantly, she bit her lip and looked at Soonhee who didn’t see bothered by the light at all as she seemed to keep sleepy peacefully. But oh, how the situation must be looking strange to Seungho right at that moment. A stranger- yes, that’s what she was-, sleeping with his daughter in her bed?
She sat up and finally succeeded to slip her arm from under the kid’s head and lifted the piece of blanket that covered her legs. Then she stood up, running a hand through her now messy curls as she silently walked over to Seungho.
“Hi. I just read her a story and we fell asleep.” She whispered, eyeing Soonhee as she turned on her other side under the blanket. Then her eyes went back on the man taller than her. “Isn’t Seunghoon here? He was only supposed to go get juice.”
She really was going to kill him now.

Look After You
“Sweety, come on, you have to hurry. Uncle Seunghoon will be here soon,” Seungho chased his daughter across the room with big towel spread on his hands. Soonhee only giggled in her bare self, making her father ran around the room in attempt to catch her. “Yah, yah, yah don’t jump over the couch, you’re going to be dirty again!” But she didn’t listen, as she was also in her rebel age. Soonhee climbed up the couch with cheery laughter, looking over her tiny shoulder to make sure Seungho was still behind him. She stretched her leg, and squealed in her father’s arms as he finally managed to catch her.
“I caught you, you little rascal!” he chuckled, wrapping the towel around her body to dry her. He rubbed her arms and knees, letting her wavy hair dried naturally. As he was carrying Soonhee on his way to the bedroom, the bell rang a short melody. The monitor showed Seunghoon’s young face and Seungho pressed the button to unlock the door. “Hey, come in,” Seungho greeted, giving his best to welcome his younger brother despite the last fight happened at Seunghoon’s apartment. “Thanks for coming. You’re a big help. I could’ve asked for Mom’s help but she was out to meet her friends today. You’re the only one I could count on for now.”
Seunghoon walked in nonchalantly, looking around the small apartment Seungho lived in with his daughter. Nothing had changed much since the last time he made a visit. “I’ll be back before midnight. There’s a short meeting for the upcoming concerto,” Seungho spoke from his daughter’s room, struggling to put clothes on her.
“Concerto? So you finally agreed?” Seunghoon asked, checking where Seungho had hidden the TV remote.
“Yeah. I think it’s a good chance for me to build up my confidence. Though, I’ve been more anxious lately because of it,” he reasoned, helping Soonhee to wear her pants. Seungho unrolled his sleeves and joined his brother in the living room. “That’s why I need to meet my doctor today. Heh.”
Seunghoon shrugged. He had tried to understand Seungho’s condition for years, and it was not the first time he had seen him in panic. But this time, Seungho made the right decision to consult with the professional and put aside his ago. Things seemed have changed for the better. “Okay, just trust Soonhee on me. As long as there’s food, her toys and good weather, you don’t have to worry about anything. Right, Soonhee?”
She stuck her tongue out playfully, and Seunghoon pinched her cheek with a laughter.
“Okay, I have to go now,” Seungho checked his watch and knelt to match Soonhee’s height. He kissed her cheek twice and reminded her to be a good kid for a day. “I will be back soon, okay? I love you.”
“Get well soon, Dad,” Soonhee cheered, stroking Seungho’s face with her tiny fingers. There were not much she could understand for her age, but Soonhee knew that Seungho would be back just like always. He bid her a heavy goodbye, and walked out of the apartment.
That looked like the right address. But Haeri frowned as she gave a last look down the stairs once she reached the right floor. At least she hoped she was at the right place; it was late after all, maybe she had read wrong? She pulled her phone out of the large pocket of her oversized army green jacket to check the message again. Then she looked at the metal number screwed to the door. No, she was at the right place. Why had Seunghoon changed their plans?
‘I just have to do something. Soju and dinner will be on me. I’ll behave.’
Well she was already thirty minutes away from her home and only needed to change line at the next stop. It wasn’t that bad. But it was unusual. She was here now though.
There was a soft giggle coming through the door when she hit the buzzer and Seunghoon’s face appeared on the small screen. Haeri raised an eyebrow then the door opened and her friend stood in front of her, gesturing at her to come inside.
“So what is this all about?” The blue haired woman asked as she slipped her feet out of a pair of black and white Converse, careful to not let the strap of her gig bag slip off her shoulder. With a quick look, she noticed the shelves to her right were filled with shoes. Man’s shoes...and definitely a girl’s. A child.
Ooh.
“I have to babysit for a couple hours.” Seunghoon explained, running a hand through his hair awkwardly. Well that explained the giggle she had heard and the kids shoes.
She didn’t wonder whose kid it was though. Because just as she put on a pair of slippers, a little girl with long dark hair appeared from the corner of the wall to her left. Of course. Soonhee, his older brother’s daughter, was there, smiling shyly at the intruder before greeting her with a ‘hello’.
So this was his brother’s apartment? And she was to spend the next hour or two here, with him, watching over a child she barely knew. Damnit, Seunghoon. Haeri smiled softly to the child though, then waved at her.
“Hello Soonhee-ya.” Haeri glanced at the couch before the girl quickly shuffled her way to her uncle and grabbed the hem of his t-shirt to tug on it. Seunghoon looked confused though. “Seungho-ssi and her. I was their waitress the other day.”
The explanation seemed to be good enough for Seunghoon and the man looked at the child who was still tugging on his clothes for attention.
“Can I have juice?”
“Yeah. Let’s have juice. Then it’ll be sleepy time, right?” Seunghoon nodded then smiled to Haeri.
“Only if unnie reads me a story.” Soonhee grinned at Haeri who shifted foot nervously.
“Yah, Soonhee-ya, Am I that bad at reading stories?” Seunghoon laughed softly as he ruffled her hair then headed into the kitchen to get the girl’s some juice, not noticing the awkward situation he was leaving his friend into.
“Yes.” The girl laughed but then turned to Haeri and took a hold of her jacket with her tiny hands. “Will you read unnie? Please?”
Oh dear. This was it. What was she getting into tonight?
Itaewon, SEOUL.
Unusual
Haeri grinned and pressed the strings on the neck of her guitar before she let her fingers brush them softly. Then her humming joined in and she smiled. She just loved this. She loved playing the guitar sitting on her bed in nothing more than a t-shirt and panties, the curtains to the window at her right opened to allow her to look at the dark sky and the lights of Seoul like colourful diamonds glittering in the distance. With just the light from the lamp on her desk to allow her to read the music sheets splayed out in front of her, it was perfect.
But it was more than just the fact it was ten thirty and she was finally done writing the song. What was it with this week? She was in a strangely good mood. So when her mother appeared in the doorway of her bedroom in her black satin pyjamas, she wasn’t bothered by the woman’s presence entering her ‘bubble’ like she so often was. She stopped playing so her mother could speak.
“Haeri-ya, do you have a minute?” The woman asked politely, a serious expression on her face.
Uh-oh. Had something happened?
“Sure. What is it mum?” She rested her right arm on top of the blue acoustic guitar, giving her mother a curious look as she tilted her head, her turquoise curls falling off her shoulder.
“Your father and I have been talking and I keep telling him you won’t want to go.” Haeri’s mother rolled her eyes as she stepped into her daughter’s bedroom. Then she stopped when she was by the bed and eyed the guitar and the tablatures on the bed before she shook her head and sighed. “He received a special invitation for a concert next month, on the fifteenth. There will be a reception afterward. It’s for four and he wants to take you and your sister or cousin but I told him we should bring Haeun-ah and her hus-“
“No, I’ll go.” Haeri quickly interrupted her mother and offered her a smile before she put her guitar to the side.
The mother raised her eyebrows, obviously surprised by her daughter’s answer. But again, was it really surprising? Her daughter had helped with the laundry and even offered to help bring in grocery earlier that day.
“Are you sure? It’s none of your noisy music, I wouldn’t want you to get bored on a Saturday night?”
Haeri chuckled and jumped off her bed. Usually, she’d start whining and tell her mother to go easy on the sarcasm. But not this time. Instead she just walked over the long garment rack to give a look at her clothes.
“I won’t be bored. I’ve been thinking about attending some classical concerts.” After pushing some clothes hangers around, she shook her head. “But I don’t think I have anything for something so fancy.”
“Should we go shopping then? Should I buy you a dress?” Her mother’s face lit up. Haeri wasn’t sure the thought of spending a whole day going from one boutique to another was her best idea of a fun day. But there was probably worse she could do and it seemed like this could be a good way for her and her mother to spend some good time together. They didn’t have that often.
“Sure. Can it be black?” Haeri grinned and crawled back on her bed.
“You and your black.” Her mother rolled her eyes and sighed. “I’ll tell your father. Don’t play too loud.” Before she turned around to leave the bedroom, Haeri caught the small smile on her lips.
As soon as the girl was alone in her room, she picked her guitar again and resumed playing the song. Her song. Then after a minute, she stopped and just smiled. What was getting into her?

Coming Around - Seungho x Haeri

“You’re not just saying it to leave a good impression, right?” he joked, referring to her interest for classical music. The car had stopped, and Seungho loosened the belt strap on his front. He looked over his shoulder to check on the baby car seat, gently reaching out to fix the sleeping baby’s head position as she was looked uncomfortable to watch. “Our director would be happy if I could bring someone who’s not known as my student,” he chuckled and pulled back to his seat. He left a short hum and nod as Haeri talked about her dad. “Article? Is he a journalist?”
“i live in Seocho,” he nodded. “Originally, I lived in Gangnam with my parents before I had Soonhee, but I decided to move out because it’s closer to school and workplace. They were worried when I said I wanted to live alone because of…reasons, but we didn’t have more rooms to raise Soonhee in our house so I thought it’s best to start our own lives alone. My mother was really upset back then, she thought I didn’t want her to influence Soonhee, while it was not the case on the first place.”
Though he didn’t expect the question coming from her, Seungho nonchalantly replied,“It’s just two of us living in our house, at the moment.” He grew a little smile, stealing a glance to his lovely daughter who was still in her deep sleep. “Nothing extravagant about our place. My old piano can’t even fit there because there’s not enough space in our living room. Soonhee would throw a tantrum if I chose piano over her toys, anyway.”
He had talked too much, Seungho noticed. Between the words he shared with this woman he met only twice, he was surprised how much he had opened up about his private life. It didn’t happen often to someone he barely knew, yet it was so easy with her. He was not sure whether she felt put under pressure for talking and receiving kindness from Seunghoon’s brother or not, but her welcoming manner pointed out her good side. His younger brother was lucky.
That moment, Seungho hated himself for having such thought.
For answer to his teasing, she let a smile show at the corner of her lips and tilted her head. One thing Haeri liked was to break stereotypes. Sure, she was in a rock band. But there was more to her than her untraditional appearance and interest in rock music. If only he knew. Finally, after another glance at the house, she shook her head and let her eyes focus back on the man on the driver’s seat.
“No well-” She paused and frowned. She had tried to read some of her father’s articles before. But in all honestly, she had gotten lost and bored. “He’s a columnist for Business Korea and also the head of the economics and business department at Yonsei University. So he’s been really busy these past couple weeks. I bet he’s going to be up all night because of his deadline.” She laughed softly. Her dad had come home really late in the past few weeks and complained quite a few times that he could use having more than twenty-four hours in a day.
Her eyebrows rose in surprise. He lived in Seocho and still gave her a ride all the way here? The surprise in her eyes vanished quite fast though. Living in Gangnam with his parents until he had a daughter, she imagined he had been raised with manners. But what was up with Seunghoon? How were they even brothers? How could he be so rude to his older brother when the man was so helpful and clearly caring about his family.
She was definitely thinking too much about that brat because she felt her fingers clutching tightly around the strap of her bag. She knew she was spoiled by her parents too. But what made her angry was how her friend seemed to take it all for granted. She breathed quietly and relaxed.
She definitely liked being in the presence of the older man: it was comfortable and so much more interesting to talk with than the guys around her age who only seemed to care to talk about getting wasted (not that she didn’t like to drink) or sex (she was no saint there). It was nice to have a smart and mature conversation for once. She followed his gaze to turn and look at the sleeping child and smiled. She was adorable and Haeri let out another soft laugh, trying not to be loud so she wouldn’t wake Soonhee up.
“She looks like a really good kid and it seems like she has a really sweet dad.” Her gaze caught Seungho’s as she turned back to face the dashboard, her hand reaching to open the door of the car. “Thank you for the ride, Seungho-ssi.” She smiled shyly, holding her bag carefully with the other hand as she opened the door. Then before she stepped out, nodded. “It was nice to meet you again and be safe on the way home.”

Coming Around - Seungho x Haeri

“That’s true, yes. But some people tend to make wrong first impressions of others by just their looks, just like I did, so…” Seungho spilled a soft laughter and quickly gulped down as he noticed how awkward his words were. “But I’ve noticed younger people dyed their hairs with vivid colors nowadays. It’s probably a trend for people around your age? Back then, I didn’t even dare to dye my hair because of strict regulation in school.”
He spun the steering wheel just like her instruction when they met the road she was mentioned and slowed down to find her building. Her words about wanting to get to know him was flattering that Seungho couldn’t help to smile. “Some days, yes. I give lecture to undergraduate students at K-Arts. Helping them with concerto as well when they ask me to. Sometimes I also attend class to study Conducting, and the other time I practice with this orchestra team I’ve been part of for years. We’re going to prepare a concerto in couple months.
I’m not sure if you have interest in classical piece, but you may come if you want. Maybe invite your friends later. My senior would be happy knowing young people have interest in it,” Seungho flashed a grin and faced the road ahead again. He pulled over, though was unsure if he got the correct location as he drove along the roadside. The neighborhood was quiet at night and the white two stories family house stood out among the other houses before and after it. Some lights were still behind the curtains, which bringing ideas to him that she was not living alone. “Is this one your house?” he pointed out, the car was already stop. Seungho leaned in toward the steering wheel, his cheek almost touched the surface as he looked out of the front windscreen to get clearer view of it. “It’s pretty. I’ve never lived in family house before. The lights are still on, do you live with someone else?”
The blue haired woman chuckled softly at the mention of the hair colour and school regulations. Hadn’t her mother said something almost similar the day she had come home with her hair silver? She had called her ‘granny’ for a week whilst her father had tried to tell his wife to tone down on the teasing. She tried not to laugh at his words since her first impression had been that the man seemed to have quite a tempter and she really didn’t want to offend him when the conversation was so natural, so comfortable.
“I doubt my friends would like that. But I might.” She offered him a sweet smile, her fingers distractingly playing with the safety belt on her chest. Just how old was the man to be a single dad and a conductor? Her parents would love to meet him for sure. She could thank them for her interest in classical music. Although it wasn’t her favourite, she still liked it once in a while. She thought she would hate it considering how much her mother had pressured her when she was teaching her the piano at a younger age. But no. It was a bit of a secret that she kept guarded for herself. Another secret.
Her house appeared in front of them and she nodded, unbuckling her seatbelt. His words surprised her. Was he some chaebol who had lived in one of those expensive villa in Gangnam? Seunghoon didn’t seen like one... but he sure was a spoiled brat so who knew.
“I live with my parents and my dad’s probably working on his article at this time.” She answered, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. Most of her friends who were still students still lived with her parents and her sister had only moved out a few weeks before getting married. “Where do you live then? I imagined you would live in a really nice house with your daughter and... wife?” She tilted her head, looking at him with a curious expression as she picked her bag from between her feet. Hopefully she hadn’t said something wrong and for some reason, she was really curious about him.

“I just wish he will get a girlfriend soon, to make sure he won’t be whining when I don’t comeback with food anymore,” she chuckled, waiting for her aunt to start eating before filling her own bowl. Shinhye let out a long hum when the food entered his mouth, chewing slowly with a hand covered her mouth. “Aunty, this is really goooood! You. Are. The Best!” she gave the middle-aged woman a big thumbs up with a smile, making a little dance on her chair as she consumed more of the meal. Although she pitied her older brother for not being able to taste the home-cooking food, Shinhye enjoyed her time there like always as her cousin’s family always welcomed her warmly. She had never experienced a warmth of a mother since she was born, so she was grateful her aunt treated her like a younger daughter even though Shinhye often gobbled her cooking. “This is the best noodles I’ve ever eaten!”–just to be interrupted by her aunt that she said the same thing for the stew she cooked last week.
“Anyway, unnie,” she continued, after a big swallow of kimchi. Her eyes sparkled as she changed gaze with Haeri. “Do you want to know something exciting from me?”
Haeri laughed softly as she listened to her cousin. Indeed, it would be nice for her brother to get a girlfriend. Haeri had always been privileged and she knew it. Having both of her parents and her mother being at home to still tend to meals and other needs she could have, she knew she was lucky. Shinhye didn’t have that chance since her mother had passed away and that she was the woman of the household. So it had always been the most natural thing for her family to have Shinhye with them for dinners. Haeri’s mother loved her like her own daughter and Haeri like her own little sister. She liked watching her mother and Shinhye together, even if sometimes, she wished she could get along with the woman as well as her cousin did.
Her attention was quickly on her cousin when she asked for it and she placed a hand over her mouth as she chewed and swallowed the noodles. Something exciting? She nodded, glancing at her mother who was focusing on her meal to leave them two to talk.
“Yes, of course I do?” she blinked and chuckled lightly. “I want to know everything.”

The first question wasn’t one she had to bother answering, but if she had to, Juni was certain Haeri must know she would have just retorted back that there was no use in arguing with her. Why? Simply because until she quit the discussion a winner she would not let the other girl get out of it once it started. Therefore, it was most likely best that Haeri pulled away, or at least let Juni have the last word on this. Because a war of words with her were prone to giving headaches to even the most stubborn person she’d ever met. It was na acquired talent, she love arguing, discussing, theories and trying to find holes in every possible ones that could be brought to her. Nothing was unique, nothing was unbreakable, nothing was impossible.
So it just pulled he corner of her lips in a quick smirk, quickly gone as she straightened and closed her sketching book. She laid her hands atop of it where she let it rest on the table. “Celebrate? If it includes anything like the last celebration you dragged me in I’ll pass.” She wasn’t sure why she’d asked o her age for a second, then remembered how her brain had tried to discern how she could sport such a style and be over the age of twenty–but on of that look nothing like she did not deserve to do so.
She tended to forget that she wasn’t that young compared to her because of that maybe. Because Haeri had his tough exterior probably hardened because of the years, yet exuded nothing but youth once she started speaking. While it was the other way for Juni, she looked young, most people would not give her over thirties until she started talking and even her grandmother would look younger sitting next to her. This was a fact that had been proved, not one she’d just pulled out of the gutter, unfortunately. “My body’s never too old for these parties, or anything, but my mouth tends to word things that young people these days wouldn’t want to keep up with, or should I say.” A scoff and she was leaning back against her chair, her arms quickly folded across her chest, “Can’t keep up with, so how do you do it?”
Haeri’s eyes moved to the sketchbook for a few seconds before they looked back at the woman across the table and quickly let another amused smile show on her lips at her answer. It had been quite a party, indeed. The last time she had invited Juni to hang out had been with the band and a bunch of other friends to celebrate their bassist’s birthday. As it turned out, Haeri barely remembered how the whole night had gone so much she had drank. Her only memory of the night was waking up on the floor, hugging her guitar, with her hair soaked in the tequila spilled by her head. She had gone home with one hell of a headache and her mother sure had not given a crap about it. ‘Drink moderately’, ‘You’re an adult, stop behaving like a teenager’. Haeri concealed a chuckle at the thought and took a long sip of the coffee instead. Her dear mother...
It was true that Juni did look young. She was blessed with amazing genes for sure because if anyone looked at them, Haeri had no doubt they would think she was the oldest of the duo. She could blame it on her cold and serious appearance but her hair colour often gave away that she was still a child at heart, even if she had grown up surrounded by older people. Being an adult with responsibilities was scary sometimes and there was so much she just wasn’t ready to give up on yet.
The way Juni expressed herself always fascinated Haeri and maybe it was one thing she really liked from the straightforward women: although she looked like she was in her mid thirties, she sounded like her life was full of experiences that anyone could only benefit from. Had she lived a hundred years and fell into the fountain of youth?
“How do I do it?” Haeri smiled, the cup brushing against her lips after she swallowed. She shrugged. “I think I just ignore most of the stupid things I hear. Or who knows, maybe that’s why I drink? Everything seems funnier then.”
“Come on, unnie. Let’s just do something you and I if you don’t want to go to another party full of young rebellious rockers.” She laughed softly. “Should we have a posh dinner and a deep conversation about politics and the state of the world?”

Wrapped in a knit cardigan, her old one with all the cigarette burn holes, Na Ra sat by the foot of her bed and gave the state of her room a long and grim look. It would take forever to clean up and she did not have the energy for the task at hand. She would have to manage on barely three hours of sleep this time and who knows what kind of activities Haeri had in store for the day. The smart thing to do was reserve her energy. Perhaps get more sleep? A yawn escapes as she gets up, arms stretched before falling back onto the bed in a plop.
( text: ) Oh, I thought you did! My place is a little too small but there is a park near here. Would that work?
( text: ) See you soon!
Mornings always feel slow, even slower when one is tired. Even with the steady stream of sunshine coming from the only window of her studio, Na Ra couldn’t shake off the drowsiness. Not even after she started with the tea or after she accidentally stepped on a wooden brush that stabbed the sole of her right foot. But it wasn’t simply the lack of sleep that had overtaken her that morning. Still, there was that nagging fear of being exposed.
Maybe she should practice before her guest comes ?
Sincere smiles always reflect on both eyes and lips. Hmm…
Now you look like you got something on your eye.
Think of happy thoughts?
Oh, well… maybe not that.
I hate this.
In less than thirty minutes, she had managed to convince her father to give her a ride to Nara’s (after a few surprised comments from her mother over how early she was awake), taken a shower and gotten dressed. All that was left was putting in the fully charged battery into her camera, get her bag and put on shoes.
Sitting on her bed with the camera on her lap, she noticed her phone from the corner of her eyes and quickly picked it up to see the last two messages, a smile growing on her lips. Nara seemed like a nice girl, although the first time they had met at an art festival, they hadn’t had the longest conversation. But Haeri got along with anyone who wasn’t a complete ass. And when they were, she sure knew how to answer to them. Nara just seemed... reserved. And that was fine to her.

“Haeri-ya! I’m leaving.” Her father called from downstairs.
“Coming!”
Alright, she had everything. She slipped the phone into the pocket of her oversized army green jacket, put the camera into her black leather bag and rushed to meet her father.
It’d be a good day. At least she hoped it would be. What could go wrong anyway?
