My Artistic Voice

My recent work especially from the Afro Futuristic Woman series showcases my voice to the “Black is Beautiful” Movement that was started long before I was born. As a photographer, it is your innate responsibility to add value to the genre through your work. I want women of color to feel empowered by their beauty and harness it through fashion. My current inspiration/study on how to do that is through the work by Kwame Brathwaite - I cannot wait to deep dive into his artistic vision to unravel my own.

CLONE ANYONE?

Everyone dreams about cloning themselves to delegate tasks but you and I know that won’t happen....for me, two clones will want to take vacation all the time, two clones will wanna take photos all the time (no editing) while I STILL will be working as hard as I am now without them lol

SUMMER IS HERE

Last month summer arrived with some apprehension and she’s here to stay with us for a bit. Me and a couple of friends kicked it off with a trip to the beach then a stop at Coney Island. This stop was for the childhood nostalgia that forever lives within me - Nathan’s hotdogs, cotton candy, clowns, carnival games and the “Boardwalk”. Hooray to Summer!!

SPRING HAS SPRUNG

A MOMENT IN TIME

I captured this yesterday on my way back home realizing I had the train car to myself for a split second. It felt good to be alone with my self, my thoughts as this metal being moved me towards my destination. It was so satisfying yet scary then the doors opened.

UNIVERSE SPEAKS TRUTH

The message reads “IMPOSSIBLE IS JUST WN OPINION”. The truth in this statement rendered me speechless. I was out on a beautiful Friday afternoon running errands for an forthcoming project and grabbing a bite to eat then saw this. It was the universe telling me that nothing that I imagine is impossible as long as I have passion and action behind that thought. My only defeat is if I fail to act on what motivates me by listening to the naysayers - myself included.

ONWARD 2021

As we enter the 2nd quarter of the year, I’m reminded to stay the course. We started the new year strong with the intention of putting 2020 behind us, implementing changes in our everyday to foster growth, elevating the importance of family on a much higher level and valuing the existence of self preservation. Let’s continue without apology!! Happy Spring
