Artist book prototype: Tatami Maker
prototype #1: experimenting with long cross stitches and a black cover
prototype #2: same type of long cross stitches and a more futuristic mirror paper cover
The contrast between the flashy cover and the traditional subject seem to be too much of a clash.
Inside, 4 signatures of 2 folded sheets of papers (7″ high x 14″ wide). Used a kettle stitch binding techniques to unite them together. The signatures are then sewed with the cover (long cross stitches).
The book lays flat, the paper is flexible and it is easy to turn the pages.
Some pictures are spread across 2 different signatures, creating a somewhat more dynamic layout between separate photos on pages and a landscape view,
