Ruby was born to the Lucas family, a Pureblooded family. The difference with their family, was that they never seemed to care about anyone’s blood status and Ruby grew up learning that no one was better than the other just based on their blood status alone. Ruby was always kind and caring towards everyone and tried her best to make friends with just about anyone. When Ruby was about 6 or 7 years old, she was attacked by a werewolf. She’s not sure who the werewolf was, and she’s never really cared about finding out. But the attack changed her. She too became a werewolf. This isn’t a fact she likes to share with people especially since werewolves are so ostracized in the magic community. Some of the professors know - because either Ruby or Headmistress Blue have told them or they have helped to make wolfsbane for her to take each month. She’s also told her cousin Robin - but that’s because one summer he saw her change by mistake. Besides that, everyone else on the school is on a need to know basis and it’s not likely that Ruby will share this secret with just anyone.

First of all, rude. I definitely always think before I talk. And second of all, of course we’re related. We’ve literally worn the same sweater that our granny made us as children. You can’t get away from me no matter how hard you try. 

One sweater is not enough proof. Especially since there are no, what do you muggles call them, oh yeah pictures of said incident. It would be your word against mine and I’ve always been better at batting my eyelashes and getting what I wanted.

There wasn’t many people on Hogwarts campus who knew of Ruby’s secret. Of the beast who lurked within. Ruby was untrusting by nature and didn’t want people’s opinions of her to change. She was smart and kind and her werewolf had nothing to do with the person that she was - at least that’s what she had told herself for as long as she could remember. Or maybe that’s what her mother and grandmother had told her and she just started to believe them.

But of course, it almost felt like she was denying a part of herself. Like she was ashamed of the wolf that lurked beneath the surface. It wasn’t like she had ever hurt anyone - the wolfsbane she had access to seemed to make sure of that. She just didn’t understand the wolf at all because she had lived in fear of the wolf. But Ruby did know one thing: she would never feel complete without understanding the wolf. 

While she didn’t want to tell her favorite professor more than she had to, she did seek out Professor Nolan. Maybe she would know how to take care of the wolf. “Professor, sorry to bother you, but do you have a moment? I have a question and I’m hoping you may know the answer.”

AU: Do you think anyone aside from Robin is suspicious of you being a werewolf?

I have no idea. I haven’t heard anyone speculate too much about it and I know Robin would rather die than tell my secret. If anything Regina might know only because I have no idea what my cousin’s told her. But besides that, no one else has really asked me about it. Which I’m grateful for. It’s my most guarded secret.

What, it’s a valid question! I mean why else would it be forbidden to us if some cool ass monster didn’t live there?

Does your brain hear what your mouth says? Or are you always the type to just speak without thinking? It’s questions like that dear cousin that will end up getting you killed.

Okay I have an important question for you. Do you think it's possible for someone like Shrek to live in the Forbidden Forest? It's dark and swampy and seems exactly like the place for the two of them to live.

It’s moments like these that makes me wonder yet again, how we’re even related.
