The biggest issue with DC at the moment is that its true lack of diversity isn't in its cast of characters, but in the real life people writing and editing the stories. It's a closed off club which you can only join if you're most importantly a man, if not then white. This lack of diversity in real life is then translated to the fictional world. Fans can't really hope for more characters that aren't white, straight, or able-bodied, if the ones in charge of everything don't open up the room to anyone else that isn't like them.
