I was thinking of a pride art challenge people could do with their OCs, because I thought it'd be cute! A queer/trans artist with their creations.

but then I realised that same challenge would be infinitely more funny with folks who have atypical or horror OCs

i wish it was like acceptable for a horror game to just be a kids horror game because i feel like the sorta cultural presence of a lot of mascot horror would be less annoying if they would just come out and say yeah this is a game intended for kids and if you as an adult enjoy it thats cool but children are the intended audience and you have to understand it within that context. but doing that would probably make it so it raised a few eyebrows when the game in question has merch ads everywhere so.

#also kids deserve horror specifically catered to them with their best interests at heart #and not a game that markets itself to adults to seem “respectable”#while designing their mascots to be as marketable to children as possible #without any respect for children's media as an art form #perhaps there is a space for intermediate horror but it's hard to be super trusting of these games #when it seems they look at their core consumer base and only see dollar signs

It's nuts how common it is to not allow children to be angry, even (especially) in households where adults are angry all the time. As a child I knew my own anger was unacceptable--not just expressing it outwardly but feeling it at all. So now as an adult my immediate reaction to my own anger is often to feel guilt instead of like. Noticing when someone is being rude or unfair or my boundaries are being violated or whatever. fucked up.
