When he was 13 Ted Bundy was walking past a pile of trash awaiting pickup by a bookstore and noticed a few magazines with the covers ripped off. He opened one and saw a naked woman, tied up with a rope. It was his very first encounter with pornography, and it would become an obsession that took over his life by his adult years. In his last interview the day before being executed, Bundy admitted to trawling garbage and dumpsters looking for pornography magazines, saying his favorites were the true detective kind because they showed women tied up and pleading for their lives.

On 19 February, 2015, 16-year-old Becky Watts disappeared from the St. George area of Bristol, England. A thorough investigation ensued and on 2 March, 2015, her dismembered remains were discovered in a house, hidden inside numerous suitcases. Becky’s stepbrother, Nathan Matthews, and his girlfriend, Shauna Hoare, were quickly apprehended - the couple had a perverse attraction to “petite” girls and had reportedly planned to kidnap Becky so that they could rape her. The couple had suffocated Becky before stabbing her 15 times in the stomach and dismembering her with a power saw. On 13 November 2015, Matthews was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 33 years and hoarse was sentenced to 17 years imprisonment.

One of the most haunting scenes from the September 11 attacks was the scene of those who chose to jump to their imminent deaths rather than wait for death inside the burning building. Almost all of them jumped alone but there were a few witnesses who claim a couple were holding hands as they jumped. One woman was seen to hold down her skirt in an attempt to protect her modesty before jumping to her death. Those who jumped from the World Trade Centre are often known as the forgotten victims of  September 11 due to the fact that nobody knows for sure who they are and even more tragically, few seem to want to know - the media and American establishment were reluctant to dwell on those who ended their lives this way and posted very few photos and only briefly mentioned them in news articles. It is estimated that at least 200 people ended their lives this way and the jumping began shortly after the first air plane hit at 8:46AM and continued for the 102 minutes that the north tower stood.

Serial killer Charles Ray Hatcher confessed to raping and killing over 20 young boys between 1969 and 1982. On August 27, 1969, Charles lured a 12-year-old boy to a creek where he strangled him. Just two days later, Charles abducted a 6-year-old boy, enticing him to a secluded area with the promise of ice cream. He was arrested after a man walking his dog found Charles beating the young boy and alerted authorities. After his release in 1977, Charles sexually assaulted and attempted to kill five more young males. In July 1982, Charles was arrested for the murder of an 11-year-old girl, and confessed to many more murders. After his life imprisonment was established by the jury, he hung himself in his prison cell.

Serial killer Jeffrey L. Dahmer didn’t wear his eyeglasses during his sanity trial because he didn’t want to see the jury and spectators.

On 18 July, 1984, Wright had gone to McDonalds in San Ysidro with her 11-year-old niece, Aurora Peña, and her son, Carlos. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time as on this day, 41-year-old James Huberty, armed with a 9mm Browning semi-automatic pistol, a 9mm Uzi, a Winchester 12 gauge pump-action shotgun, entered McDonalds and attacked. He killed 21 people including Jackie and Carlos. Jackies niece, Aurora, survived as Jackie shielded her. Aurora later recounted that she felt her aunt jerking and shaking on top of her - she had been shot 48 times while shielding Aurora. Huberty then turned the gun to 8-month-old Carlos, who was crying. Huberty shouted at him to shut up. He then shot him in the back.
