Do we have to follow the springboards?
It depends on how much you want to deviate. Generally, I’d say the closer the better, just because they’re written to set everyone at roughly the same place, as related to canon. If there’s something in particular you want to change, feel free to reach out to the main to discuss it with us!
Will everyone go back to their canon genders at once?
Nope, and there’s nothing saying that once a character goes back to their original gender, they’re going to stay that way.
Do we have to use those suggested names and FCs?
No - both are simply suggested. While it is convenient to have each character’s first name start with the same letter their canon name begins with, it’s not required. Regarding faceclaims, however, we will be slightly more picky, since in our opinion there are a few faceclaims that get used far more frequently (regardless of whether or not they ‘work’ with their assigned character or family) than the ones we’ve suggested here. And also I spent a long time going over faceclaim directories and gif hunts. However, the listed options are only suggestions (and we know not all of them have so many resources, unfortunately), and we are willing to consider other faceclaims that match the ‘vibe’ of a character.
We will not be accepting whitewashed faceclaims for characters of color, though we are more than willing to consider faceclaims of color for traditionally white characters! Do keep in mind, though, that does mean you would have to include a faceclaim of color for their non-swapped self in your application as well. If you’re interested in this option and need help coming up with an fc for their canon self, please reach out to the main!
Other than Unique, are characters allowed to be trans?
YES. Without a doubt. We strongly welcome and warmly encourage trans (and nonbinary!) characters, as this game is about examining Glee’s gender politics and how those politics change when its characters’ have a different gender than what is represented in canon.
Our only caveat is that if you make a character trans after the swap, that character is also trans before the swap. For example, if I were to say that Beatrice is a trans girl presently, I would also be saying that Blaine, in his pre-swapped life, is a trans boy. I hope that clears it up!
