Quick Intro

Hello, all! I have a few new followers, so I thought I’d post one of these, and then pin it for future reference!

I’m Thuri, my main is @thuriweaver, and I’ve been in online fandom since the days of newsgroups. (alt.fan.backstreet.boys, in fact)

Noct is my boy and I love Ignis a totally healthy amount, I swear.

I’m a ship and let ship multishipper, my OTP is Ignoct, I love the OT4 of the Chocobros, and any combination of them together is great! I also have a giant soft spot for Prompto and Luna together, either romantically or as besties.

I play the English Localization--I first picked up the game because I saw a clip on Outside Xbox, heard Matt Mercer’s voice and decided to give it a try--and love all the VAs, especially Robbie and Ray--and I could listen to Adam read the phonebook, I swear. (I’m also a big Critical Role fan, so it’s been fun hearing a bunch of them in the game as “additional voices” and got SUPER excited when Robbie joined for season 3 over there)

I write and mostly post my fic on AO3 although there are some shorter things that are only on here. They can all be found under the tag “thuriweaver writing”. I have a couple ongoing AUs and a lot of short atmospheric things.

the throughline between final fantasy 10 and final fantasy 15 being the two most emotionally affecting games i've ever played is not lost on me because at the end of the day these are both games which slowly reveal themselves to have the same horrifying realization at their core: this is a journey to escort the person you love most to their death.

the lighthearted tone in the beginning of both of these games is what makes the twist that these two characters are here to die hurt so bad; the joyful moments all the friends have shared with each other seem to quiet in the face of the true meaning of the journey. but the joy is the point, i think. that even though death hangs over both of these games like a shroud, the love still matters. it matters more than anything. the world sings to yuna, to tidus, to jecht and auron to make them feel less alone. prompto has taken pictures of memories that will outlive noctis that you, the player, get to look through yourself and realize what a legacy you've built in this world. both of these games are a breathing conversation about grief, but ones filled with equal parts laughter and silence. you will die, and it may be far before you ever should, but the love you leave behind never will.

will forever glaze the character writing in ffxv. like sure the rest of the game is incredibly unfinished and you basically have to pay extra for the story. but the character writing is so phenomenal that you can immediately clock the character dynamics like 5 minutes into the game. and one of your companions has dialogue for getting a rock in his shoe. really what more could you ask for

I love that when you finish the game, Noctis becomes the hero in the title while his theme plays in the background.

His character arc is visibly played out in the opening menu with the dawn break and the resting pose with Luna. The sunlight is a reminder that you've finished the game, but you can never relive your first playthrough. Every time you replay the game, you are reminded of how it is going to end.

It’s my Noct! From Step Out Into Twilight, the huge giant epic I’ve been writing for the last three months and that shows no signs of ending, where he’s sent to live with Cid after the Marilith attack. And he is PERFECT. I can’t even begin to say how happy I am with this, how much it is just so perfectly him.

If you have the means and commissions are open, get one!
