look it's eminently true that there are categories of people whose sexuality is construed are inherently predatory or threatening by their very existence, especially when transmisogynized or racialized oe both. but i think if you truly believe that adults' attraction to children is completely demonized you are simply not engaging with the world as it exists or lying for your own gains.

this is like claiming "rape and intentions to rape are demonized". nominally true until you interact with society in anyway and realize just how normalised sexual violence is. folks see "the spectre of the rapist" and understand it to be a rhetorical/political device, often used to dehumanize certain people and push away attention to how common sexual violence is and how society is built on a facade of caring about sexual violence only for their own goals while 99% of perpetrators get off scot free and are in fact pat on the back by their knowing family friends and colleagues. should "people's uncontrollable urge to rape shouldn't be demonized, people should be allowed to reclaim 'rapist' for themselves" be accepted as a serious and urgent political goal?

Whenever I tell people that the memes about north korea that the people are these Sims characters that dont laugh or smile without orders is really dehumanizing propaganda and hypocritical because america and the world isolated them first and then blamed them for the isolation, the response will be 9/10 times "oh so you're one of those people that believe north Korea is a socialist paradise?" Rewatching Malcolm in the Middle and alot of people miss it for the depictions of sibling infighting and mommy issues which is like fair if you're not weird about either but. I am rewatching it for the realistic depiction of pre market crash poverty like. Season one episode 9 high key hits like a truck. The most unrealistic thing about Malcom in the middle is a family like that keeps their house.

i think my fundamental issue with "you need to stop exclusively watching shows for children" as a piece of snarky internet advice, is that something being "for children" is so vague and arbitrary, that it's often used to describe anything from actual shows for preschoolers to genre fiction aimed at adults that op thinks lacks real artistic value.
