26 years ago today, Final Fantasy 6 was released in North America for the Super Nintendo (as Final Fantasy 3)! 🎂🎉

This was the last 2D Final Fantasy before Squaresoft jumped into 3D. As the sixth game in the series, they perfected the art of sprite-based storytelling. The battle system is incredibly fun. The soundtrack is excellent–I still listen to it even today. The graphics, especially the enemy art, are gorgeous. It’s such a memorable game.

Is Final Fantasy 6 a favorite? Do you think it’s one of the best RPGs ever made?
