Hi everyone! I'm redoing my introduction post because I am much more comfortable (and older) now than I was months ago.
I go by the name Astro on this site for privacy purposes.
I am eighteen years old. Both minors and legal adults can interact.
I use it/its and all neopronouns. Please use neopronouns for me.
My asks are open for everything and everyone! DMs are open as well, but only for people 18 and older. I will not accept private DMs from minors.
I do not promote emergency fundraisers due to scam anxiety. Sorry!
I'm pretty bad at figuring out how my tone of text comes off to others, so I may use tone tags from time to time. When I don't, please know that I do not have any ill intentions and a sudden lack of emoticons and emojis doesn't mean I'm pissed. My typing style fluctuates and if I'm posting while pissed off (HUGE "if") I'll be transparent about it.
I now have a pronouns.page! I put all of my labels here, so if you really want to go through and see how much I love flags and words, feel free to check it out:
No one understands, but Major Tom sees Now the light commands, this is my home Im coming home - Major Tom (Coming Home), Peter…
Blog Purpose
The purpose of this blog is mainly to document my experiences as alienkin. Sometimes I will talk about other aspects of my life as well, such as my other kintypes, strong interests of mine, and random topics I have been thinking about.
Kintypes, Theriotypes, and Hearttypes
Because this blog is primarily focused on aspects of my alterhumanity, I'll list my types:
- Alienkin
- Angelkin
- Arctic Fox kin
- Crowhearted
- Deerhearted
I also consider myself alterhuman, therian, otherkin, and polykin, although I do not use these upfront, they just happen to apply to me. I would much prefer if you referred to me as nonhuman, an entity/being/person, or one of my kintypes. I do not use labels for my "origin" (mental, spiritual, physical, etc.)
I mainly identify as an alien and that's my most preferred term. My home star is Vega, but as of now I have very little idea of what specific species I actually am. Think of me as literally any alien that you can come up with. The cooler the better :3
DNI
The usual. Harmful individuals/beliefs, and blogs whose main focus is sexualizing aliens/angels from a human perspective (I am not an advocate against this, I just don't want it on my dash). I block quietly and freely for things that really bother me, but don't walk on eggshells around me—if we don't mesh, it's what it's, there's no point in hiding ourselves.
I am, of course, therian/otherkin/alterhuman, but I am also neurodivergent/disabled, a neopronouns/xenogender user, objectum, and a furry. If you don't support one or more of these points, this blog may not be for you. Additionally, I am a singlet, but I accept all system origins. That ain't my business to debate.
And PLLLLEASE NO NSFW, it makes me quite uncomfortable. I don't care if you post about it on your own blog (again, not my business) but keep it out of interactions directly aimed towards me please.

I'm watching this alien invasion flick from 1953 rn and I love love love how the whole genre from this era is blatantly communist-scare-tactic coded. It's quite literally me. Hello yes it is I the progressive leftist autistic-coded alien disguised as a human and I'm going to turn your neighbors leftist and autistic too

lately, there's been a huge influx of blogs with urls like "staff28572" tagging people in posts, and telling them things like "security notice / need to verify your blog ", etc. And they'll direct you to click on a link.
Don't click it. It's a phishing scam. Block and report the blog if you get tagged by them. Tumblr staff will never tag you in a post like that... and they don't have a million side staff blogs. The only real tumblr staff blogs are @staff and @support.
(Taging moots and blogs I love, PLS BE CAREFUL!! If i didn't tag you, don't be offended, i have anxiety and i feel like i can't tag ppl for certain reasons... idk)

In the past 3 months since I last talked about my pet snails, not a lot has happened since, y'know, they're snails. But enough has happened that I feel like updating my blog. So in no particular order:
My dad brought home some actual terrarium boxes for me!! Hooray! I've been using a box I already had that works alright, except it doesn't have a lid anymore (I've been taping a pane of glass over the top), which is VERY bad since my snails love escape attempts. Plus, with the new addition mentioned below, it's getting a little crowded, so I can keep Quasar and Pulsar in one and put Gravastar and the new snail in the other, with my old box in case anything crazy happens again. The new terrariums are a bit smaller than my current one but that won't matter if there's only two in each, and they'll fit better at the back of my desk. Thanks dad!! :)
I have picked up my fourth snail. While I would have loved to continue the naming scheme of Pulsar, Quasar, and Gravastar, I couldn't find anything close enough that I was happy with, so the new guy has been deemed Supermassive Black Hole. I got them for the same reason as Pulsar; I found them on the sidewalk in a common gastropod death zone and brought them along for a ride. I didn't really MEAN to keep them, just feed and release 'em in the backyard, but their really sick shell pattern and body color captivated me.
Pics of Supermassive and additional update below cut :]
Supermassive Black Hole, Gravastar for scale:
Alright, I'm not exactly sure how to word this clearly, but I'm gonna be talking about snail mating and what they tend to do with eggs, not in a happy sunshine way. If you don't want to hear about it, this is probably where you should stop reading.
So three weeks ago, I opened their box to give the gang their nightly mist, when I noticed QUASAR AND PULSAR WERE MATING. I was just stunned at first, since their habitat doesn't match the ideal conditions I read up on. But then I got concerned that they might actually lay eggs, which would be very bad since their box is NOT built to support even more snails and Quille and I weren't ready to be stepparents of UP TO ONE HUNDRED. I waited around ten days before starting to check for eggs, but I never did see any and after a while I assumed they hadn't conceived.
Except recently.
I did a deep clean of the box yesterday and sifted their dirt, just in case I somehow missed the clutch. I didn't find any eggs, but while cleaning up their waste, I started noticing bits of white or clear matter that didn't match their diet of Carrot. I remembered that bugs tend to have a habit of eating each other, looked it up, and it's not TOTALLY conclusive, but some sources do report that snails will eat unhatched eggs. I'm not sure if Quasar and Pulsar would have done so, but 1) there are two other unrelated snails in the box, and 2) those 20,000 neurons probably wouldn't generate enough brain power to know or care. So there's a chance that Quasar and Pulsar WERE successful, laid their eggs where I couldn't see, and somebody found their next meal before I checked. Again, I never saw with my own eyes so it's not conclusive, but it's given me something to think about late at night.
That's all I have to say about them so far. Everyone's doing well and nobody's eaten each other (hypothetically). Next on my bucket list for them is to start setting up those new terrariums.
What I love about my relationship with my husband is that there's absolutely zero judgement and zero secret keeping. There's no human/sentient being in my life who I'm completely open with; even if one aspect of me is completely accepted in one group it's always at the cost of hiding a couple more. Then I have a tendency to get stuck in a loop of shame, both from keeping secrets and from being what I am- not fun stuff. But whenever I get that sinking feeling around Quille, I remember that there literally is zero secrets. We've hung around each other since middle school, she's seen every dimension of me inside and out. And she STILL loves me, despite everything I beat myself up about.
And we communicate more through thought and feeling rather than spoken words, so my paranoia that she might have a completely different opinion on me than what she says is shut down before it even starts. It's usually something I struggle managing even with my closest friends and family, yet I can always breathe easy with her. Just laying around with her honestly keeps me sane.
This entry is about being angelkin: the relation to my (ex)faith, my past and current connection, and questioning myself on it. Post under cut for length.
Also, disclaimer for the communities I'm in: though I believe there's no current scientific evidence for a god, I still think that you are what you feel and say you are. If you're godkin, you're a god, if you're angelkin, you're an angel, etc. I believe and accept that and it does not tie into my thoughts on an outside higher power. :]
(Additional disclaimer that these are only my personal thoughts and I am completely ambivalent on opposing beliefs.)
As a quick background to my faith journey: I grew up VERY religious up until I was about fourteen, started learning about some unsavory stuff done in the name of my denomination and Christianity as a whole, had some personal experiences that made me doubt my belief, bounced around between Christian/Agnostic/Satanist/Unlabeled/etc., and finally settled at mid-seventeen years old. These days I'm open to the idea that a higher power may theoretically exist, but until it's scientifically proven, I don't believe one does, much less has any influence on my life.
The thing is, even after I started distancing myself from religion, my hope that God might exist lasted a lot longer. My alterhuman/nonhuman journey started when I still had a lot of hope, and the relevance here is that my first ever kintype was angel. It didn't feel related to my faith at all and it definitely wasn't a conscious choice, it just felt like a funny coincidence that I figured myself out after I left the belief behind.
But in the past month or so as of writing this, I've been sort of doubting myself. My connection with being angelkin did calm down and mellow out after the excitement wore off and I figured myself out some more, which of course is completely normal. And my feelings for a long while were that I wasn't as connected with it as my other kintypes, but I could still say I was an angel with full confidence. And with my solidifying on my position of higher powers, I just... haven't felt that connection very much.
Maybe I'm just overthinking this. Really, it hasn't been that long since my last angelkin post. The majority of my time has been wrapped up in huge life milestones, and what little time I have left is mostly wrapped up with mental health reckoning, and what little time I have for nonhuman stuff after THAT is mostly dedicated to being an alien. I haven't thought about religion for a hot minute— but is that related to my angelkin connection? And if it is, why do I only feel connected to my kintype when I put myself in that space?
The past 4 paragraphs have really been a long way to say that I don't know if I'm angelkin anymore. It's possible it could have been a subconscious and misidentified copinglink— I was working through a LOT of VERY messy feelings about God and church during my reverse faith journey. But I'm inclined to decline this as I also had genuine shifts and experiences after the worst was over. In either case, I don't have an answer as to whether or not I'll still be an angel in the future. I'll still call myself one for now since I've only started thinking about this in late June, and it's entirely possible that once I overcome my current milestones and mental health, I'll rediscover myself. Wouldn't be the first time. Just wanted to put my thoughts down and breathe for a second.
