Dan and Holly’s wedding

Holly’s wedding and mine is this week. I can’t wait till then. I wouldn’t have met Flora if Holly didn’t tell me about the keep where I met Flora. I think I would just have a totem if she didn’t tell me about the keep.

Without Holly and Sid’s help, I would still looking for samples for the shop and still traveling in the Wilds. I know the shop wouldn’t work as well as it does now. I’m not very good at the business port of the shop. I don’t think the town or the training would have started without talking about with Holly. I wouldn’t have taken the trip we did if I didn’t have the shop with her. I’m not sure if I would have, a normal store if I didn’t met Holly. I think I would still be traveling around as a sampler like I did at the start of my journeyman quest.

This might be the last article I write for the guild newspaper. I don’t want to work on our honeymoon and I don’t want to worry about writing when we get back. I may write other articles for the paper but, it’s not going to be a series like the one I have been writing.

Alison’s work

Alison has made a few other works for the shop and the realms. After traveling in the realms, she wanted to make it easier to travel by foot. She also upgraded the trainee’s locator necklaces. She added a belt to go with the cloaks the trainee’s wear in the realms. The belt has some climbing gear, a grapping hook, line launcher, unending rope gem, a pair of gloves and sampling tools. There are a few straps to hold other items or tools they would need.

Alison had upgraded the locator necklaces and map to pinpoint where the trainee are in the realm. She also made them able to display name and how long they been in the realms. The necklaces can also teleport the wearer back to the hub realm. It was made to do so if anything happens to them. I do hope that doesn’t happen. After reading about Holly’s old bot, she made a device to make new helper bots for the shop. She also upgraded the goggles and gloves use to take over the bot and upgraded the bot programming as well.

With the help of Rosalina, Jin, and Holly, she made a set of crystal markers for the plants and other materials we use and sell. I think Holly is glad to have a full list of everything we sell and she made a new log book for the list. Flora and the elementals set up the markers for us. With Kirt’s help, she made new words to hide our realm spaces since she came across a few of them while looking for hers. She made a few other things for the shop, but they are small thing to help work in the shop.

New realm travel

Alison has come up with a new way of traveling in the realms. She had the idea for a new kind of cart for the realms. She drew up the plans for it and the workers made the parts for it.

They used the runners from a Northern Kingdom sleigh with a mana drive steam engine and added small steam turbine for some extra speed. Alison turned the runners Aiden made and turned them into glider runners. Taylor helped make the cart and a coach cab for it. Kirt made a holding drum for the steam engine. She made the mana drive and steam engine and connected them to the turbine.

The new coach made it easier to travel through the realms. It was faster to use the coach for restocking some of the shop and to get the materials for the bigger orders. Alison also made a holding garage and maker for the coaches for the hub realm. The workers and trainees like them when they need to get a lot of materials for their work. I did give one to Sid for his ranch realm. He likes it, but I don’t think he uses it much. We also gave one to the green house realm to help with their harvest.

Alison has made a few other things for the shop and realms. I’ll write about those later. She has been a big help for the shop and we are glad she join the shop.

Albert retiring

The shop got the news that Albert our artificer and tinker will be retiring from the shop.  He will stay on to teach the guild trainee for a bit. He said he hasn’t been able to keep with his work since the town open. The trainee has helped, but he still had to turns away work.

With Albert stepping down from his job, we would be left without an artificer and tinker. I was going to put out an ad in the guild paper when Albert told me that he had a replacement in mind. His granddaughter has recently finished her master quest and looking for a place to work and live. He wanted to move into one of the empty houses and let his granddaughter use his old house. With the help of the workers, we moved Albert into one of the other houses in town.

When Alison our new artificer and tinker and Albert granddaughter got to town, we helped her move in and to set up her shop. She isn’t a gnome like her granddad, but a gnome soul. She really hit it off with Kirt and was happy to get to work with the others. She couldn’t believe that she would to work with the realms. She was a bit surprised to meet the elementals. She seem overjoyed to when we told her she gets her own realms space. She also guild that have Flora guild her around the realms and the items the workers made for traveling in the realms. She would like to have another ways to travel the reams then walking. I think she spent a week of her free time wondering around the realms looking for her realm space. Once she did find a spot for the space, it was set up much like the others. Albert seems happy to work with Alison and teaching the trainees while she worked. She makes a great addition to the shop.

Meeting the town people

There are a few other towns’ people that don’t work in the market or the shop and the guilds. I skipped them because I wanted to write about the guilds and other workers first. They are the bank workers, the head guild clerk, the school and our guard captain.

The head guild clerk is more like a supervisor than a normal clerk. They take care of the daily work of the guild and looking over the other clerks. Our head guild clerk is an older guy named Levi and he heard about the job from our guild master Margret.

The bank is owned and run by the bank guild master, Vanna. She told the other bank workers about the new jobs in the town. There is the bank manager Grant, a dwarf and the teller Bridget, a fey soul. The guard’s office and jail is next to the bank. There are always two guards around the bank. The captain of the guards is Drake, a dragon beast kin. The town’s school is small and there are only a few teachers. The principal is Nolan, an owl soul and the head teacher is Vikki, a fox soul.

That’s the people living in our town other than the trainees and the clerks in the guilds and shops. I would talk to them, but most of the trainees are only here for a month or less. Writing about everyone in town would take to long. The town is still growing as more people pass through the town since it was added to the guild list of market towns. We have been getting more work too. The town’s caravan helps bring more people to the town as well.

Meeting the market workers

After I finished talking with the shop keeps, I went to talk with the market place workers. The stall owners work closely with the green house realm. Clover the gardener helps tend the plants used by the market place. Rosalina and Hanna help her from time to time.

There are a few empty stalls for rent. A few of the shops have stalls as well. I know Jin has some of her trainees run the shop’s stall. It’s a good way of getting new customers. The market mostly sells produce and other crops. Most of the market’s produce is stocked in a store house in the green house realm.

The market is run by the merchant guild. There is a small group that works in the market it. There is Corbin a raven soul runs the fruit stall. Bernetta a rabbit soul runs the vegetable stall. Harlan a hare soul runs the herb stall. Chip a chipmunk soul runs the spice stall. Moss a mouse soul runs the grain stall. Qun a squirrel soul runs the nut and seed stall. Lita a raccoon soul runs the bean stall. Jim an otter soul runs the fish stall. They are a nice group of people that are willing to help the shop’s realms. They also have great prices for their produce. Jim the fish stall owner is the brother of Jenny the seafood merchant.

That’s the town market workers. There are few other people I’ll write about later. I wanted to write about the guild masters, shop keeps and market place first.

Meeting the shop keeps

I’m writing about the shops keeps in town. Since I already wrote about the guild the group of people I’m talking to next is the shop owners. There are quite a few other shops in town other than ours. Along with the Inn, tavern, general store, and trading post we have a book binder and printer, book shop, upholster, gardener, butcher, baker, seafood shop and the town has its own porter and caravan. That’s not including the market stalls.

I’m only going to write about the shops outside of the market place. I’ll write about the market later. The first people I talked to was Hanna, Holly’s best friend. She has a flower shop in town and runs a stall in the market sometimes. She told me that she’s glad to be back in the Center Kingdom and to be able to open her shop for the town. I know Holly is glad that Hanna lives in our town. Next I went to talk to my sister Angela. She runs a healers clinic outside our shop and she has a small healer office in our shop as well. Since the training started she has been spending most of her time in her shop office. We did set up a realm door from her office to her clinic when we build the dorms for the trainees.

The first group of people I talked to was the Inn workers. The Inn keep is Lumi a yuki-onna soul. She’s sweet and kind. Lumi let a few of the newer people in town stay in the Inn for free until their houses were finished being built. The Inn’s cook is Eira a snow spirit soul, she’s bit like our Yukiko. The Inn’s clerk is Boris a snow elemental soul. Holly and I met them on our trip in the Northern Kingdom. They wanted a new place for their Inn. They came to the town after we contacted them about the plans for the town.

Next I met with the Tavern workers. The owner is Kyo an oni one of the yokai’s from the Eastern Empire. I met him on my journeyman’s trip. It was just Kyo and his waiter Ren a half oni then. When Holly and I visited them on our trip they had picked up a new bartender Brandy an oni soul and a brewer and wine maker Kiku an oni soul. Kyo was looking to open a bigger tavern and wanted to move out of the Empire. When I contacted our contacts he was one of the first to reply.

I met with the diner workers next. The owner is Owen. He only recently finished his master quest and he wanted to open a diner with Trisha the diner’s cook. She finished her master quest around the same time as Owen. The waiter Kate is still working on her master quest. After I visited the diner, I talked to the general store and trading post workers. The owner of the general store is Tory. She runs the store with her son Victor the clerk of the store. The trading post owner is Liam. His daughter Amber is the clerk.

I met with Clover the alraune gardener. She takes care of our greenhouse realm. After that I met with Alvar and Alba. Alvar is our book binder and printer and Alba is the book shop owner. They are both elves. Then I met with the butcher Tora a tiger beast kin and Tany the lamb beast kin baker. Next I met with the caravan owner and driver and the porter. Henry is the owner of the caravan and Dorian is the drive. Henry and Dorian are oxen a bit like Ken. Kira the porter is a horse beast kin. Then I meet with the upholster Pete a goat then our sea food merchant Jenny an otter soul.

Meeting the guild masters

I will be writing about the people living in the town. Once the shop got back to normal and the training started, I went to meet the people of the town. I talked to them and did small interviews with them. I started with the guild masters, the leaders of the guilds.

The first person I met with was the guild hall master. They run the guild hall and oversee the guilds. They also act as mayor of guild or market towns like ours. Our guild master is an older woman named Margret. She’s nice and kind. She told me she worked as a sub guild master. She would fill in for other guild masters if they were sick, away or other reasons. Interestingly, she has been following my articles for a while. When she read about our plan to start a new town she wanted to join the town and have her own guild to run. Being the mayor of the town was a bonus for her.

There are many other guild masters that run one of the guilds in the hall. It would take a while to meet all of them. So I met with the guild masters I would be working with. I met with the merchant and banker guild master. They are a pair of tanuki sisters like Jin, but they are a few years older than Jin. Yin is the Banker guild master and Vanna is the merchant guild master. They worked for a guild in another town. They were waiting to work at a lord’s town, but that plan fell through. They don’t know what happen to the lord’s town plan. They heard about our town and came here to work.

Guild training

The shop started guild training. We got a few journeyman and apprentices staying at the shop. It seems the workers are doing more since the training started. The trainees help to prep new projects and keep the shops stocked. When Sid’s new ranch realm was built, we added a new stock room for wool, fur, hide and skins from the ranch. Mei, Tawny and Ken mostly use those items. We also sell the items for Sid as well. Angela has been getting more work with the apprentices staying at the shop.

Flora has been a big help with the trainees in the realms. She has been guiding them through the realms and helping to find the samples they need. She also helped Albert and the smiths make new locator and summoning necklaces for the trainees to wear in the realms. The necklaces can track the trainees and summon Flora or one of the elementals if they get lost or need help. Kirt also added a new ward to the training hub that won’t let a trainee into the realms if they aren’t wearing one of the necklaces. Tawny also added new shifter cloaks for the trainees to protect against the weather of some of the realms.

The shop has been doing well. The training has been great. I have taught a few of the supplier’s guild classes, but most of the classes are taught by guild teachers. The workers mostly teach the journeyman and a few of the hands on classes for the apprentices. A few of the workers have gone to the school to teach some novice guild classes.

Opening the town

When the company finished building the town, I contacted our contacts and told them they could move into the town. The move didn’t take that long, but setting up the shops did take longer than I thought it would. We also had to set up the two new realms. That was simple to do with the help of the elementals. We supplied the new shops with their materials to work with, that was one of the biggest jobs the shop has done outside of a lord’s town request.

I’m glad the town is finished and officially opened. I sent out a letter to the rest of our contacts and the guild saying the town is open and ready for work and to move into. We have a few empty houses that haven’t been claimed by anyone. I also let the guilds know the shop is ready to start guild training and to add the town to the list of guild towns.

Once the move in was finished and the market and shops were supplied, the shop went back to normal. We started to do more work and take on bigger projects. We did meet the rest of the shop owners and workers in the town. We have a lot of interesting people in the town. With the new Inn, tavern and diner we have new places to eat without having to travel far. With a guild in the town we don’t have to go to the next town to use their guild.

Holly is using the new greenhouse to grow some Desert Kingdom foods. A few of the workers and shops are doing the same. Sid is glad to have his own realm and doesn’t have to take up space in the shop’s realm. His herd and beasts have more room to roam. We also set up a few different environments for his summoning beasts. His realms are smaller than the realms the shop uses.

Building the market place

Once the shops were finished the company started building the market place. I helped build the market with my elemental powers. I wanted a part of the market stalls to be trees. The tree would be the polls that are holding up the stalls. I got a few seeds from our realm and planted them where the stalls would be. I made the trees grow to full size. The company used the trees to build the rest of the stalls.

The market place is set between our shop and the workers houses. There are a few shops passed the market. Once the market is finished the town would be finished. All that’s left is the furniture. Taylor and the twins can handle that. The town will be opening after they are finished with the rest of the work for the town. The rest of the people that will be living here will move in then.

After the move, I’m going to be opening the shop to the guilds for training. I’ll write more about that later. I’m also going to write more about the new people and shops in the town once I meet the rest of the people moving here. Along with the market work we had our normal shop work to do as well. The shop has been busy with the town and the workers haven’t taken on many big projects. Once the town is finished things will go back to normal.

Building the shops

When the houses were finished our construction company started building the shops. They started with what almost every town has is the guild hall. They also started the foundation for the Inn, tavern, general store and the trading post.

Once they finished getting the outer walls up for the main buildings they put down the foundation for the bank, school and the greenhouse. While the company was working on the main buildings and shops, the rest of our shop contacts replied. We had a number of new shops moving to the town. I know Holly will be happy to hear her best friend Hanna will be moving to the town. My sister Angela will also be staying in the town. I’m glad she’s staying here. I’m sure Sid is happy about that as well.

Sid and I have been talking about moving some of his herd and summoning contacts to another realm away from the shop’s realms. He’s worried about how some of his beast would react to the guild trainees when we open the shop for guild training. Taylor has been helping Sid come up with a new realm to keep his herd and summoning beast in. It took some time before they finished a plan that Sid liked and that the company could build. I’m glad Sid won’t have to worry about this anymore.

When the company had put up the outer wall on the rest of the buildings they split up to finish the main buildings, while others started putting down the outlines for the new shops from our contacts and Sid’s ranch realm building. They still worked faster than I thought it would take, but the shop is helping to speed things up. We still had our normal shop work to do still. The town construction takes priority over shop work.

Building town houses

Our town was approved by the council. The guilds sent over a construction company to start building the town. Luckily, we got the same company that helped build the shop.

Taylor was a big help with the construction company since he used to work for the company before he came to the shop. He knows how they work and what they can do. He suggested that we start with the houses since they would take the longest to build. I wanted to wait until I had more replies from our contacts to see how many will be moving to the town. I did get a few replies before the company arrived. We could always build more, we do have the supplies and most shops have housing as part of them.

Once Taylor went over the plan with the builders, they mapped out the town and laid down temporary outlines of the buildings to space out the town. They started making the foundations for the houses. I was a bit surprised by how fast they built the houses. The foreman said they normally aren’t that fast, but having our shop helps. Having smiths, a stone worker and other crafters on site does help. The houses were simple one or two bedroom houses with a bit of room to add on to the house if they needed to. I did ask them to add a space for a new tree to be planted outside of the houses. This would add more reason to the town name. Next we are building the shops once we know how many shops we are adding to the town.

Council town planner

The council town planner came by to go over our town plan. I called a meeting with the workers to get their help with the plan. The plan was like any other market town. The one difference with our town is that our stalls are between two trees. I wanted to use birch trees or other thin trunk trees. It would be the reason why we named the town, Sapling town.

With the help of the planner we put together a plan that the council would approved of. The plan is the market starts outside of the shop and end about a block from the guild hall. The Inn, tavern, general store, and trading post would be in the space between the market and guild hall. There are a few shops passed ours. Most of the houses will be behind the shops. The planner added a school and bank near the guild hall. We also added a warehouse size greenhouse realm to be used as a small farm for the town and market to grow other plants needed for the market. The shop realms are for plants used to crafts and building supplies. It is a different set up than what’s needed for the green house.

Once the meeting was finished we thanked the town planner for his time and help with our town. He took our plan to turn it into the council once it’s approved the guild would send builders to start building the town. After the meeting we went back to our normal work. I also sent a letter out to our contacts telling them about our town and asking if any of them would like to join the town.

Council clerk and guild member

Once we submitted the records and forms we needed to the guild and the lords’ council, a clerk from the council and member of the cartography guild came out to the shop to survey the land. They made sure there was enough space for the market town we wanted to build or if the town would push into the woods. If we build the town how I planned it we would add more trees to the town.

After the clerk and guild member finished their survey, they looked over the shop and the realms.  They were impressed by the realms and that the shop was inside of a giant living tree. We went over the plan we had made for the town. The member of the cartography guild helped us fix one of our problems we couldn’t figure out by ourselves. They also helped us map out the town better than we had it. The council clerk told us that they would send out a town planner to help us finish the plan for our market town. After we submit the new plan to the council, they would send builders to start building the town. We thanked them for their time and help with the map of our town. Once they left we got back to our normal work for the day. We had a few requests from a lord town contact. We are still putting together the supplies to build our town.

Guild training license

Before we could start training, we needed to get a license from the guild. The license tells others that we are able and ready to take on students. It also adds our shop to the list of training shops for journeymen. The closest guild to use is in the next town. Holly and I took a trip there.

It was a nice town that looked to be a crafter town. There were a few smiths, crafter and maker shops in the town. It didn’t take long to see the guild master. The guild master was an older lady. She was nice and offered us tea when we came to her office. We asked to get a training license for our shop. We needed a few records and forms filled out which we had ready.

After she looked over our papers, she asked about the shop and work we did. We told her about how we started the shop, the work we did and the quest we finished. She was a bit impressed that we had some different jobs in one shop and that we had such a large collection of plants. I also told her about my journal and article in the guild news as well as the book that collected them. She said that she would check them out later. We did get our training license. She asked if could help us with anything else.

We told her about our plan for a new market and guild town. We weren’t sure where to start with the guild or council to make the town official. She told us what we need to do to start the town and the papers we need to get. We thanked her and left to get the forms and records we need for the new town.

Dan and Holly’s new house

While the dorms were being built, Holly and I planned out are new house. We opened a floor over the dorms for our new house. We wanted more space and a house to our self. We also wanted to live together. It was a bit odd to go back to our rooms after the trip.

We built the house once the dorms were finished. We kept a few things from the wagon. We moved the sandstone slab up to our room to use as the base for our bed. We put a futon on top of it. We set up a large bathroom that’s connected to our room and a closet on the other side of the bedroom. We moved our old shop board to a small work room outside of our room. It hangs over a desk in the room. Across from the work room we put our realm doors we also added a shared realm space. Next to the workroom is a small bath of only a toilet and sink. Across from the bath is a spare room.

Our living room was across from our bedroom. Next to the living room was our kitchen and dining room. We have the same heating and cooling system as the dorms. Holly decorated the house like her old house in the Desert Kingdom. It looked like an oasis in a desert. Albert helped me put up some windows that look out into different parts of the realms. There were a few more things we added once we moved into the new house.
