((as previously alluded to, I have a new blog for creative endeavors. the-rimar-roses is my new repository for notes and works related to my ongoing novel project, and rimar-roses-rp is my multiverse rp sideblog for characters from the novel. both are currently works in progress, but i hope to finish build them and have them up and running within the next few days. neither blog will be high-activity, as im in grad school now, but i hope to use both as a creative outlet. so if you want to rp, please follow me on the new blogs and a shoot me a message. i also still have a main blog here.

A visitor to the Sword Coast. (Open Starter)

It’s amazing how much a large chunk of land could change over the course of miles. It can go from humid thick jungles to frigid mountains covered in snow.  The dream walker had dreamed of a great many places, some that could be reached and others only dreams could touch.  But his dreams have started to falter much to his dismay.  So here he was far from the only place he could loosely call home.

The Sword Coast was a hot spot for many adventure he had been told, a great place to sleep and dream, but it was spiritually dead.  He barely found any to keep him company or to entertain him when his own thoughts became too much.  But at least the women were still pretty.

Perhaps some of the women along the Sword Coast were pretty, but the ranger standing at the bar was not. At best she could have been called striking. Her green eyes were piercing, and her long black hair shone softly in the dim light of the tavern She had been beautiful, or at least pretty, once, that much could be seen. But now that beauty was broken by the tangle of scars woven across her cheek and jaw, and the jagged remnants of old wounds that sliced from the corners of her lips to her cheekbones. The scars were a gruesome sight, nd the man she spoke with seemed to be looking at them more than he met her eyes.

After a brief moment of what seemed to be arguing, the lather-clad and scarred woman threw up her hands and turned her back on the man with a look of utter exasperation. Apparently giving up on him altogether, she brushed by the blue-skinned man as she returned to her seat in the corner of the room. She was muttering to herself all the while, and a mention of "blasted undead" could be distinguished. She all but threw herself into her seat, a small red-brown wolf lifting his head as she approached. Eyes hard and annoyed, she scanned the room and began to drum her fingers on the rough and worn wood of the the table.

Derik’s talk of grease sticks and powders left Aruya feeling out of her depth, so she simply chose not to respond to his explanation. The creams on her arms looked more or less the same to her, so she pointed to one at random. “None of them tingle,” she added as she pointed.

"Good to hear." Derik said, before taking the foundation Aruya picked out and started dabbing a bit on areas of her face. Afterward, he then grabbed a soft brush and started spreading it around to cover her face, being careful not to get any directly on the eyes and mouth. 

"Alright," he said, "Now the eyes and mouth are going to be the toughest part. So, you’ll need to make this face so it’ll be easier for me, and also yourself when you apply makeup on your own."

With that said, he then opened his mouth wide so that his lips were drawn tight, and also rolled his eyes upward.  Despite how silly it looked, it was actually useful for applying makeup.

The creams felt strange and cool, and the brush tickled in a way that made the ranger want to sneeze. But her discipline won out, and she kept still as the drow went to work.. When he demonstrated the expression he wanted her to make, however, she eyed him doubtfully. It felt like he was trying to force her to make a fool of herself! But thus far he'd been nothing but kind, and Aruya refused to let her own reservations about the process color her opinion of him. Deciding to trust Derik, she mimicked the expression s best she could.
