Like they tried to change Reblogs and people rightfully got up in arms, this is a LOT worse. In order to have access to any sort of thing dubbed mature, and We haveALL seen what they think is mature, Everything from a black and white photo of a black woman's arm, to posts about IUD recalls, to a nude painted by a 17th century artist, to anything involving the word Trans; you have to send your personal information to a third party site that WILL get hacked, and you will be doxxed. And they can say "Oh shit, well it wasn't us who sent your name address and gender identity to Moldovan teenagers, here's a couple extra minutes in the ball pit.

That's bad enough!!!!!!!! But the entire idea of needing permission from state authorities to access anything labeled mature by our friendly AI overlords is some fucking Boll shit. im not in the most clear-headed state rn and not to get conspiratorial about gintama again but god i am rewatching my favourite arc aka the ghost ryokan arc and jesus FUCK. it is once again, extremely striking how blatant the parallels between takasugi and gintoki and the canon heterosexual romances are. okAY look i'm going straight into conspiracy theory here but LOOK here are things about oiwa and tagosaku that just kill me:

one of the first, in-your-face things we learn about them is that tagosaku made a promise to protect oiwa and the inn. do you see where i'm going with this?

so i think both takasugi and gintoki can be compared to metaphorical ghosts (as explicitly said by bansai in shinsengumi crisis) and yes the perpetual haunting presence of tagosaku FEELS COMPARABLE idk. and he's only really appeased after an emotional resolution and with a SINGLE TEAR and do i need to explain it (not a 1:1 comparison but the haunting is resolved when takasugi and gintoki sort of? use their words to solve their misunderstandings)

and it straight up mentions that tagosaku died 10 YEARS back and yes what else happened a decade prior to the series' main events-

and the fucking. cherry blossom symbolism when talking about their romantic youth, i think i'm going to roll my eyes.

this gets very interesting once you think about how oiwa asks gintoki in desperation whether he even ever had someone as precious and he genuinely sheds a tear and considering the specific parallels that are mentioned here well how about i completely go into tin-foil hat territory and suggest gintoki was thinking about takasugi when she asked him about this........

And after contacting the Irish Museum of Modern Art and being referred to a curator (!), they provided me with the caption information that was used when displaying the work for the Staying With The Trouble exhibition in 2025 (thank you so much IMMA staff!!)

Artists is a series of blank, square canvases, each signed by a staff member in the manufacturing facility that produced the canvases in the La Romana Free Trade Zone, the Dominican Republic. The manufacturer, Daler Rowney, is a popular supplier of art materials in Ireland. The artist coordinated the project remotely by contacting the facility manager. The signatories volunteered to take part in the project upon invitation. They are Johan Rivera, Carlos Roa, Aneury Rondon, and Orlando Saldivar.

Anyways, I’d spent about the last 6 hours of my life trying to find out this information after some discussion on artist supply chains came up on the dashboard. Hope you enjoy the work as much as I do.
