Watch me post this and then disappear for two months again.
A chat with two old friends brought back something I originally thought to be dead
utterly obsessed with this headline
remember that post going around about how cops will pop the hoods on their patrol cars to block the always-on dashcam while they beat someone up and was accompanied by a picture of 3 cop cars doing exactly that, and it got big enough that snopes stepped in to defend these poor defenseless officers, and their entire analysis was "this is fake because we asked those officers specifically and they pinky promised all 3 of them were raising their hoods to stop their engines from overheating", and then an actual auto mechanic stepped in and pointed out that popping the hood on an idling car in the southern summer sun would actually make the all-black engine block hotter? good times

Whatâs True: They do this.
Whatâs False: There isnât literally a section of the police handbook saying theyâre allowed to block dashcams, so obviously they never do that and would be punished by their fellow cops if they did. Stop worrying about it.
today is the first international asexuality day! on this day, we celebrate those that are under the ace umbrella, including demisexual, gray-asexual, and all kinds of other ace identities.
asexuality is the lack of sexual attraction to others, or low or absent interest in or desire for sexual activity.
asexuality is valid. asexuality exists.
if you are an allosexual person, check in with your friends that are in the ace spectrum today! let them know you are with them every step of the way. and educate those who do not know what asexuality is.
and for us in the spectrum, let's use this day to celebrate our identity! we are in this together, let's not lose the community spirit. we have enough love for everyone.
sending love to my people, happy asexuality day!
glitched areas in 3d games: bizarre but serene, like being in a wide awake dream world, where physics and logic are only theories, and everything seems so confined and yet youâve never felt more free
glitched areas in 2d games: welcome to hell! welcome to hell! welcome to hell!
the infection has spread to the safdie brothers
I need to preface this by saying my parents were godawful parents who should have never raised children due to their combined issues and belief-systems. Them delusional hippies fucked all three of us up so so bad.
that being said, I donât think there was literally any other more extreme or effective way to counteract negative body image then by visiting nudist colonies of old people growing up. like, yes, I DID NOT enjoy seeing a bunch of naked old men and woman walking around, going to hot springs, and doing physical activities.
Dangly bits. Dangly bits for days.
However, when I got older and all of my female peers started expressing how much they hated their bodies, I just. Did Not Understand. Itâs not that I loved my body or whatever, but it never bothered me. My breasts came in and I was like âwhatever.â I never shaved my legs because I didnât care. When I started dating I was never anxious about people seeing my naked body because if they donât like what they see and they leave then theyâre the asshole and fuck âem. like, thatâs not even the point of sex anyway.
it just didnât matter. I had friends that started dieting and hating themselves and talking about their thighs and stretchmarks and just, everything. I still feel guilty about this, but I used to make up things I didnât like about my body in order to fit in.
My friend even brought this up later in life. She was like âWhy did you say you donât like your knees at sleepovers??â I then had to admit that I was lying, I had no issues with my knees, I just chose a random body part so I could be part of the conversation. (Note: knees are NOT the right body part to dislike and many people apparently thought this was weird).
I dunno, I always thought the body positivity movement was a bit off the mark. I never thought it was important to love my body or that everyone should be beautiful, I always thought it was normal to be cool with it. Itâs okay not to be beautiful. We all end up nothing but dangly bits and skin tags and drooping parts in the end anyway.
like, we always say âbeauty is fleeting,â but there is a significant difference between saying it and seeing it. Seeing naked old people who were comfortable with themselves definitely helped me be comfortable with myself. I donât know what this means or how this should effect future child-rearing, but I do think itâs interesting.
need a girlfriend so i can deactivate for good
letâs say that being hot as a form of empowerment for all women could even be a thing. letâs say itâs possible to look hot for yourself and not for men. where did your idea of hotness come from? why is it important to you to look hot? who decides whatâs hot? why must you change something about yourself or cover something about yourself to get hot? what makes you not hot at your most unmanicured state? why? how did you know what to do to get hot? do the people around you view hotness in the same way?
ALSO people can accept theoretically that beauty standards are inherently racist and anti-semitic yet cannot then apply that to the idea that placing value in your looks is not going to be empowering for all women? you got a nose job âfor you.â okay. so why? what about YOUR nose needed to be fixed? and where did that idea come from?
