Tonight was the last dress rehearsal for this year's production of Evil Dead: the musical. Tomorrow is opening night. I am beyond excited to do this show. I am so proud of the work put into this production by all involved and honored to be a part of this cast. I have never performed professionally in a musical and not as an adult as a named character in a musical. I've got the jitters just thinking about it! Every day the young man playing Ash, David Moan, checks in, tells me we're doing good, and continues to be a champ. Everyday my cast mates inspire me, lift me up, and make me laugh. This show is a riot. I haven't laughed this hard at a production I've been a part of in ages. Of course Detroit would be the place where I branch out into musicals. Nothing I've experienced in this city yet has been expected. I never even thought I'd end up here. Evil Dead is a classic. And I'm a part of a long standing tradition in this city to celebrate the classic, a home grown classic at that. Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are local heroes, legends even. My day-job coworkers talk about the movie, the show, and the local history everyday since they found out I got cast. Come see this show. Come get covered in blood. Come see me wear pants for the first time in over two years!
