Guanaja, the fourth installment and final island in our Islas de Bahía adventures. Guanaja is the most remote of the three islands, and one who believes in protecting and preserving this seclusion. While our journey to get to Guanaja was one of the most enduring, and challenging experiences of our lives, the juice was well worth the squeeze. From the madness of Utila, to the friendships of Roatán, Guanaja gave us peace...

Wanderlust's third installment of our episode in Honduras as we continue our journey in Roatán. The adventure continues as we introduce some friends we met on the island, three national free diving champions all from different respective countries, met by chance after one of our dives in the West End. These folks proved to be an impetus for us adventuring on to one of the most fascinating and delicious restaurants any of us had ever been to, along with helping to secure hiring a boat captain to the remote island of Guanaja.

Roatán! As we left the vagabond, expat paradise of Utila we were a little shook by the initial tourism of Roatán, but it was only surface level. Beneath her tourist destination skin lay an island made of mysticism, beauty, warmth and sincerity. They say that it's the people that cause the heartbeat of a place, and no island's heart is pumped more by the people who inhabit it, than in Roatán. In Part II of this episode you'll see just how true that statement really is, and also, one of each of our greatest moments under the water's surface with bubbles for breath. Wow, our debut episode! Holy how-the-hell-did-we-get-here Batman!? We'd been told by some ramblers met in travels prior that there was no place on Earth quite like the bay islands of Honduras. Not only that you could get certified to dive for pennies on the dollar in comparison to most major reef regions, but also, that you just may lose yourself, and love her a little too much to ever want to leave.

These islands have a power, a seduction that only sirens may be able to rival. They draw you in with such genuine good nature, but also, a feverish wildness about them that is undeniable and infectious. We felt it the second our ferry landed us on the dock in Utila. The tiny island is a treasure trove of ex pats, scuba vagabonds, lost souls, native islanders, and a sea life. No other place in the world will welcome a traveler like Utila does, and the reception is so warm, it’s almost dangerous. You begin to feel at home near immediately, those that were strangers the day before, dear friends by the nights end. We fell in love with everything that Utila is, and tried to capture as much of that raw energy that it possessed as we could. We hope you enjoy Part 1 of this episode, and will leave you with what we learned are the Three Great Lies of Utila: I’m leaving tomorrow. I’m not drinking tonight. I love you.

We came together, the three of us, unified by one inescapable factor: backpacking. Whether it be from work, leisure, or the undeniable pursuit of a better existence, each of us had been tapped to be forever travelers. Seeking more knowledge of the world around us through a travel based in the immersion of culture, not luxury. The Islas de Bahía had been whispered to us so many times, but we knew so little, so it was a clear must. No frills, nothing fancy, just three guys out to show the world how achievable travel is, and the world beyond resort walls.
