I think the real genius of War and Peace is that it’s such a long, sweeping story that by the end of the novel you completely forget that Pierre and Anatole tied a cop to a bear then pushed them both into a river
ENOUGH ABOUT BOOBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE FUCKING COMET IS COMING

Is it just me or is it kind of queer of Nikolai to decide he definitely needs to marry Sonya while she is crossdressing? This in conjunction with his obsession with the Emperor makes me think he is repressing bisexuality
see THIS is the hard-hitting literary commentary i started this newsletter for. nikolai's truly in the top 3 most repressed gay characters in this novel
I love receiving the emails - but the experience is spoiled a lot by the headers that give away what's going to happen in the chapter.
I'd be grateful if you stopped doing that.
For example, today's header: "Natasha and Andrei are engaged". That's a dead giveaway. I'd rather hear it from Tolstoy without already knowing first what's going to happen.
Thank you.
hello,
sorry for the delay in responding to this. the chapter headers are meant to invoke the 19th century serialized literature while also giving readers a brief sense of what will go down in the chapter. chapters are scheduled several weeks in advance, and i have already made an effort to make them more general especially where major events are concerned. over 500 people are subscribed to the newsletter, so it wouldn't be entirely fair to cater to just one person, but i hope the more general chapter headers work (sometimes it's hard to summarize the action without giving away too much, especially with brief chapters where the main action is in itself a spoiler)
