Pʀᴏᴍᴘᴛ: Wᴀʀᴅ ᴀɴᴅ Mᴇ

A bit of a spoiler warning. I mean it’s vague, but I’m sure you can figure it out. It’s about Kingsman. Other than that I think everything’s fine.

I will stand by what I said about characters being a part of the writer, but in the case of Ward, there isn’t much that connects us. It would be really cool to be a spy, minus the dangers and all that, but I know because of the dangers and all that, I couldn’t be one. I couldn’t lie to my family, and most of all, I couldn’t see myself killing someone, especially as a job.

But I think that’s where Ward and I could be similar to an extent. Yes, he went into the business and yes, he killed people, but the extent of not liking the idea of “playing god” is where we’re similar. And I’m not meaning in the sense of beliefs, it’s just a term I use to describe the act of choosing who should die and who shouldn’t. It’s not my place to say what’s wrong and what’s right. I know in my head what’s wrong and what’s right, but that motivates my decisions. And I think in Ward’s realization of this, we are similar. All in all, however, I wouldn’t have had what it takes to be a spy.

I won’t talk too long, or quite as much about family this time as I did the last time, but both Ward and I are older siblings. I would do anything to keep my sister safe, alive, and happy. No one messes with her besides me. And that’s the type of relationship these two have. Except, since they’re considerably far apart in age, they weren’t very close until later in life when Ward left the agency and he left home with his brother. From then on he basically raised his brother. I know I’d do the same were my sister and I ever in this situation.

Beyond this, not many people who don’t know me super well would be able to tell Ward is also played by me. But those who know enough, know that I love Jack Davenport. And you can imagine my excitement when I found out he was going to be in Kingsman. And then in that case, those who have seen the movie, you can imagine my horror three scenes in. So this character is fueled by revenge and love.

His personality is where we are most unalike. I find it very hard to be snappy with just about anyone. It becomes hard at times to write him like that because my default is to be nice and pleasant, but I think I’m managing. At least managing logically. I think. But otherwise, the good nature he has deep down, I can relate to or at least admire. That’s one of my favorite additions to a character. Something truly good among whatever other quirk they have.
