shadow company . what a change that's been . a good one , but it's still some getting used to all the same . there's quite a few differences between here and the task force . he doesn't have a roll of red tape around his throat keeping him from doing what needs to be done . if anything , it's encouraged and the weight of it has been lifted from his shoulders . the training is different ; it's harder , but he can keep up . he likes it . for the past few weeks , he's been put under velikan's supervision . well , it's more of the fact he caught soap's eye and now he follows him around willing to learn anything he decides to teach him . which , to his surprise , is quite a bit . he shadows a shadow . he doesn't speak much , and in all honesty , he's used to this sort of thing . he dealt with it for 4 years prior ( though that's not something he wishes to dwell on anymore ) .

they're current operation puts them in moscow woods ; this coupled with a downpour , it's just fan - fucking - tastic . ' nobody told me it was gonna be fuckin' rainin' . ' bitterness laces his tone as he steps over a mud puddle , completely ignoring the way he nearly slips and falls on his ass . he catches himself before it's too noticeable . ' we couldn't've postponed this for tomorrow ? '

moscow was never velikan's hunting grounds of choice. he'd been here a few times, namely when the threat of vladimir makarov was still on the horizon and not quite as imminent as it is now.

he lets out a low hum as soap speaks. he likes the scot, believe it or not, despite his stubborn silence on the matter. graves had a real habit of picking up strays. velikan wasn't there for las almas, cooped up in building twenty-one until konni had kicked him out.

one large hand presses against soap's back to steady him, before he gestures with two fingers ahead. the fog's clearing a bit, and there are lights in the woods, peeking through the trees — still a while away, but the tell-tale sign that they're almost at the facility.
