Favorite Side to edit/least favorite Side to edit?
Anon? Great question omg I’d love to talk about this. I’ve done it a little before on Twitter a while back- so I’ll gladly talk about it!
Here’s the thing, surprisingly enough the ranking of like- my favorite to least favorite side in general in terms of liking them- doesn’t play as much of a part as you think. I could not like a side as much but love to edit them and vice versa.
So in ranking, and it does change sometimes but it stays pretty consistent to this list.
But janus is a close second.
Roman and Patton are probably tied at the bottom.
Now again, this list doesn’t have reflect my opinions on the characters in terms of regular favoritism.
Atleast for me, when it comes to what makes a side fun to edit is how visually Interesting the character typically can be. How much variety do they have in their clips? Do they get a lot of outfit changes in the series? That’s the biggest factor IMO when I think about what sides are most fun to edit.
So for example, Remus and Logan are higher up on the list due to their clip variety. Logan used to be a lot lower despite him being my favorite as he didn’t have a lot of variety- but WTIT was a game changer! Different camera angles and lighting do wonders for visual eye candy and edit potential.
That’s why Remus is the highest for me. Now he hasn’t been around as long as the main core 4 to so technically he doesn’t have as much footage to use. But I mean, he’s the star of the forbidden fruit music video. That’s one of the most fun things to edit with. It’s very visually interesting compared to the static shots of the rest of the series. Lots of opportunities for masking transitions. And then WTIT of course, he’s a main character of that episode as previously mentioned.
Janus similarly has a lot of scenes with fun visuals. (The ‘hopefully he’s better at pretending…’ scene in svs, svs redux video game scene, him pretending to be other characters, etc.) He’s also a fun character to do story edits with given his villainy type vibes.
Logan I am biased to as he’s a favorite so I do naturally find him more fun to edit usually soft or angsty stuff with (angsty stuff esp with his current arc and all.) also WTIT as we’ve established and also the jam video- he’s very pretty in that :3
(If I had to rank c!thomas too- uh probably inbetween Logan and Virgil or tied with Virgil. He has WTIT under his belt. Eye opening shots like in moving on or svs I like to use. He’s fun for story telling edits on occasion.)
Virgil’s next. I have weird random hyperfocuses on virgil sometimes where I get obsessed with him. I either hate or love him, we have a complex relationship- and that also comes with editing. He has alot of story telling edit potential, given his yk main character focus Thomas gives him a lot, his angst, etc. also young!virgil is the cutest fella. Embarassing phases as well his costume there is very cool yk fun to edit with.
Patton and Roman are tied, just cause- they don’t really get a lot of clip variety? Maybe id put Patton slightly above Roman idk. Their clips aren’t as visually interesting to me. Love them both but as of rn they don’t have a lot of eye candy to work with compared to like Janus or Remus.
Idk if this made much sense, I do love editing all of them of course, some just inherently have more fun editing potential to them IMO :D but of course I’ve slowed down wit edits over the years- I used to post multiple times a week in highschool, now I’m lucky to edit once a month- mostly cause of time but also it’s kinda hard to find new ideas all the time to edit the same clips cause content has slowed down.
