watching her defend herself against him, caused an unexplainable pang in his chest, due to the lack of trust that seemed to be there all over again. had everything he had done been for nothing? was she destined to always loathe him? jerking back in time to avoid her makeshift staff, ben then furrowed his brows as he tried to find his words. “no,” he managed, his voice sounding defeated as he looked her over, pain and confusion clear in his features as he did so. “you’re not her, are you? you’re not my rey.” he suddenly stated, swallowing after he did so. “you are, and yet… you’re not. not yet. perhaps something stronger than us brought us both here to stop what happens in the future– our future.” ben continued, mainly to himself at this point, trying to make sense of all of this. maybe it was best if he left her alone, gave her time to think– maybe even remember? though the former supreme leader doubted she would. she was his rey, but she was not yet the one he had come to save; the one he knew he loved. “if i figure this out, i’ll be sure to tell you.” he offered before taking a step back, giving rey the space she needed and clearly wanted. “…until then, perhaps it is best our paths did not cross?” ben said reluctantly, though all he wanted for her was to feel safe, even if they were somewhere unfamiliar.
the way he looked, so broken, so hurt by her words. it was weird like he didn’t understand why she would be so afraid. she looked him up and down and noticed things were even more different than just a feeling. he looked different, his hair longer, his clothes -- changed. he wasn’t wearing his first order robes, everything about him was different. even the way his eyes looked -- clear, almost hopeful but also sad and scared. staying her distance she continued to study him, her shoulders relaxing slightly. this was not the kylo ren that she had last scene. this was not the same man. “what do you mean i am not your rey yet?” she asked. when was she ever his? they had a connection yes but one neither understood. something was off, more off then she could ever thought. it was clear he did not do this. “who are you?” she knew who he was -- but also he could be somebody totally different and part of her felt a twinge of hope in her soul. did she have any idea what was happening? no, but there bond felt different, closer..deeper than in that room before all this.
