there is this propensity people have for being harsher on women than men (in this case i mean specifically pwhl players vs nhl players) from the perspective of "well they should know better bc theyre women" which is how you get people writing off conservative pwhl players while not having the same energy when it comes to conservative nhl players (so, like, 99% of them lol)

and maybe its bc a lot of pwhl fans think that by virtue of not engaging with the nhl it means that they can be safe from platforming conservatives in their sport? but hockey is still an upper middle class sport (at best) no matter who is playing it and you will have to navigate it with the understanding that Thems Kind Of The Breaks

imo its not really helpful to hand-wave nhl players bc "all men are bad so we expect this" while hyperfocusing on pwhl players bc "women should know better" it doesnt do anything meaningful
