I've been working on a little side project for a while now and I think I'm getting really close to releasing the first chapter. It'll be a simple little fic with only a few chapters, but I wanted to share a teaser because I'm having so much fun writing it. For context, it's a "To Hell and Back" style story where Lucy needs a guide to take her to hell so she can make a deal with the devil.

“I will pay your fee.” She told him, lifting her chin and hoping she looked confident. Gosh, please let her look confident.

The Ghoul watched her closely, his eyes darting over her face and then down to her hands, which were resting on the table. He set his drink down and stretched both hands across the surface, palms up. With a twitch of his fingers, he silently urged Lucy to put her naked hands in his gloved ones. She hesitated for only a moment before she did.

Anything for her father.

He immediately caught her wrists and held them in place, meticulously inspecting the back of her hands and fingers, then flipped them to see her palms. She bit her tongue to the point of bleeding when he took a particular interest in her left palm, where the fresh wound was still wrapped. He gently unraveled her bandage and eyed the injury with curiosity. It cut across the hard-earned calluses that had formed on her palm, and the Ghoul used his right pointer finger to run down one side of the ugly, stitched-up line. She did her best not to shiver at his touch.

“You makin’ blood oaths out there in those villages?” He asked, that musical tone soft and considerate now.

Lucy swallowed.

“My husband attacked me with a knife.”

The sharp inhale across the table surprised her, and Lucy yanked her hands away in fear. When she looked up at him, the Ghoul looked angry. At her or her awful, six-feet-under-husband, she wasn’t quite sure.

“And where’s the fucker now?” He asked.

Lucy tried not to smile. She really did. But the satisfaction in her answer was just too good to hold back from physical expression.

“Hell.”

How did you find your artstyle? Did you use artbooks or did you had in mind how you want your art to look like?

I looked at my favorite artists a lot, like Phobs, Charlie Bowater, Shoomlah, Loish, and Makani. I studied their work for a time, did lots of gesture drawing, messed around with random tutorials on deviant/pinterest, drew constantly.

my favorite past time is daydreaming/falling asleep to ideas, so I always have a folder of my art so that I can look at what I've drawn to imagine them in an animated sequence. for me this has really helped keep the emotion and gesture alive in my work.
