Alastor! The Radio Demon ~ sticker sheet
"why can't they just be friends?" not in the homophobic sense, but in the "in your need to center romance in everything you are missing the whole point of the media in question" sense
You know all the Lucifer posting really has me rooting for an Alastor Lilith fake dating to whirlwind friendship. I dont even care if he thinks she's a bad mother who sheltered her kid too much and then disappeared for a bit. I doubt he cares either, who cares about holding people to moral standards in hell anyway. Her daughter was an adult with other adults in her life and phones are newfangled.
This is truly the kind of thing that I could only see happening in a fic but I still really adore the concept. Alastor needs to be allowed to be a homewrecker of some sort in some direction in every season of the show. Whether he's usurping the role of Charlie's dad, inciting divorce amongst the Vees, or dating Lilith - the Radio Demon needs and deserves this as enrichment.
i started rubbing my hands together nefariously the moment i hit post on that ask
I wonder if sinners are restricted to living in pride. Was Lilith similarly restricted? Cause that would make it even more grating to have a husband steadily getting more racist/classist/speciest against your people while clearly holding you separate and apart from them. He's not listening to you, but what happens if he does, what happens if he stops making an "exception" for you. Honestly surprised she didn't bounce sooner. They must have been very in love.
I'm pretty sure that, canonically, sinners are restricted to Pride. I'd be curious as to whether that was always true or if it was a change made as of the start of the exterminations - the latter would make all of this a lot worse.
But yeah, I assume Lilith has always had freedom of movement and has never been considered a sinner "technically."
On the other hand, I did just think of a demented theory that directly contradicts what I just said above, so here goes. What if Lucifer didn't in his eyes/his mind consider Lilith a sinner, but Heaven does just like Lilith herself does, and the arrangement to send Lilith to Heaven came about when both of those two viewpoints came to light and clashed? If she stayed in Hell, she would be subject to the same rules as any other Sinner, but if she left Lucifer, her daughter, and her people (who she had been riling up to revolution, pissing everyone who's anyone in Heaven off), she wouldn't be at risk of death.
Which isn't really a "risk" at all, really. It was actually basically a certainty the moment the option was on the table.
As another Mimzy fan, have you read the What are Friends For? series by Daisynights? It's mostly written before season 2 aired, and has a really fun and in-depth interpretation of Alastor and Mimzy's friendship. Deserves to be WAY more popular
No, but it'll be on my reading list now for once I'm done with WFLT!
Someone is very pleased we had to work from home to supervise the utilities company today.
oh no, I think I'm obsessed with hell's most toxic poly ship XD
About Lucifer, do you think his views on Sinners could have soured his relationship with Lilith a bit? After all given she was human, she's literally a Sinner herself, she just happens to have the title of his wife and Queen of Hell alongside it, but take away the fact that she's his wife and the Queen and she's like literally like any other Sinners, a human soul condemned to Hell, and personally by Heaven too. Think hearing him say how much Sinners sucked for 10 000 years might have made her think he would view her a bit like them since she's basically one too? Also the fact that he keeps insulting their people, whom she apparently adores, one would think she would eventually have enough of it and makes it a bit more believable why she would strike a deal with Adam to go on vacay to Heaven for a few years just so she can stop hearing badmouthing her people and in a less straightforward way, herself. Even worse if Lucifer meaning every single words but he never actually sees his wife as a sinner herself, she's his wife, she's Lilith and their daughter's mother, to Lucifer, Lilith has never and never will be seen as a Sinner in his eyes. Except Lilith doesn't see it that way. Would be an interesting dynamic to explore.
Yeah! I have an old post on this but my theory is basically that Lucifer thinks Lilith isn’t technically, taxonomically a sinner because she didn’t die on Earth and fall to Hell and because Eve, not her, was responsible for Original Sin—and that has made him feel way too comfortable badmouthing sinners to and around her, even as over the millennia she has formed a bond and kinship with the mortal souls in Hell as her people. So unbeknownst to Lucifer, his attitude towards sinners at large really poisoned his relationship with Lilith over time.
day 75

And I do like Lucifier when its aknowledged he is the personification of Pride in Hell- and not just a little guy. He says he is nearly a God- and I can feel it slip into being Godhood with how much he promotes his ‘divine’ power to his daughter.
He seems to have created Hell. And Hellborn in Pride do refer to him like a deity- the Goetia blasphemy using his name. There are hellborn churches with hellborn bishops using (an edgy kid’s understanding) of an ‘anti-christ’ symbol (which, sooo funny if anyone ever tried explaining that one to Charlie). Its just always this really funny contrast in how much sinners cannot care less because thats what happens when you don’t govern or pay attention at all. And at least his own sin family seems to miss him! Theyre bribing him to come back and actually to hellborn governance again in the background shot of his bedroom. He has the potential for competence and respect.
Not to shamelessly self-plug but I AGREE and this immediately reminded me of a little tidbit of conversation from WFLT Ch. 4 that hasn't gotten its flowers and SHOULD.
I think Lucifer does kind of sort of think of himself as a God! Now, don't get me wrong, it's a "kind of sort of" thing in his head, not a full-throated proclamation. But he has this level of pride because he was left down in this creation-sandbox and built a whole society from scratch-- which! To be fair! Was very impressive!
But there is such a funny tension between Lucifer, who made the Hellborn and probably the Rings and all of this non-Pride-Ring-infrastructure... and then the goddamned motherfucking Sinners who came down here with their bad mojo and their evil habits and their rap music and their "building our own city" like the city he built wasn't good enough, and what the Hell!
I like to think that every time, in Lucifer's estimation, he "turns around for a second," the Sinners have done something horrible (in his opinion) and unauthorized (in his opinion).
And he does not realize this at all, but that's actually part of his punishment. It's not just being stuck in Hell with a bunch of sinners that he can't control; it's experiencing the literal exact thing he put his dad through with the garden and the apple on repeat ('I left my creation unpaused for literally 5 minutes and now everything is a complete disaster').
He does not see the irony and it is unclear if he ever will.
Can you see the comedic potential of Razzle and Dazzle, though?
Consider:
A) these things have been able to talk the whole time.
B) They hate the hotel and sinners so much they won't even speak to them.
C) Charlie pulled them in to LARP her Disney Princess fantasy as 'animal' friends.
Lucifer created Razzle and Dazzle, therefore they hate sinners with every fiber of their beings and cannot believe they have to work at this fuck-ass hotel, but they have no vocal chords and cannot speak.
Hilariously, Razzle and Dazzle would get along famously with Alastor if only they were able to communicate--
Lucifer is one of my favorite Hazbin Hotel characters and I am LIVING for the shade thrown on that entity.
Do you think sinners love to dunk on him too, given all the 666 news clips dragging him?
I think if they didn't before then it has to become a national pasttime after S2. Like. Everybody saw Vox Populi. Literally everyone. They probably saw it multiple times because you know Vox was replaying that shit for days afterwards.
personally, my issue with Lucifer is like half his actual writing and half the fandom reaction to him. NOTHING like people treating a guy like he's never done anything wrong ever to really make you aware of everything he HAS done, thanks, and more to the point things he never once acknowledged!
Lucifer has a HUGE issue with Sinners, and Alastor is the best example because he's Lucifer's focus as competition. But it's not like his reactions to any other people were better; he refused to speak to ANYONE at the Hotel in his fist introduction, was late enough that there were already two casualties and a severe injury in the Extermination (what else could he POSSIBLY have had going on?), hides from people most of season two- it's obvious that he doesn't want to be around them. it's just not the focus because people don't like admitting that he has a clear prejudice and does NOT see the Exterminations as an issue beyond Charlie personally not liking them. had she not protested, I can't see him caring one bit
Which makes for an interesting dynamic! His pessimistic view that they are all doomed to fail and are evil deep down versus Charlie's continued optimism about people's potential is a GREAT contrast when Lucifer is refusing to argue with her; it forces him to stay there and, we hope, eventually reckon with his own issues. That is a very fun idea and I can't wait to see it fleshed out!
But if you only read fandom stuff you'd assume he was sent to Hell for trying to help Sinners the first time and is totally on board with helping in round two or something; he's friendly, just awkward! or shy! for sure not thinking that they're beneath him and he wishes more of them died before Charlie got involved...
YEAH so this is a really irritating thing about the fandom for me as well and I do not know how to talk about it without adding my negativity tag as a warning.
He's not an uwusoftboylittleguy. Like, I get it, Lucifer wears a big sweater and he's socially awkward and he's physically little. So all of that can easily add up to a fandom interpretation of Lucifer as this squishy toothless caring person when in actuality, that's Charlie. Lucifer gets the fandom love and attention that Charlie should for character traits that Charlie (not Lucifer) has. Charlie is toothless and hopelessly empathetic and caring and a dreamer and capable of opening her heart to everyone she meets. Charlie is the kind of person who would-- quite believably-- reach out to someone like Alastor and keep reaching out over and over again even though he's "obviously evil," "always scheming," and "a bad person." But instead that's the shippergoggles dynamic that I constantly see between Lucifer and Alastor and it doesn't make any sense.
Lucifer has a huge bias problem when it comes to sinners. We see this over and over again. He says they're all evil psychopaths that will destroy anything nice you create for them (the implication being that they shouldn't be taken care of, at best, or should be exterminated like pests, at worst). He looks down on them for being mortal souls. He considers himself (and by extension, angels) superior. Everything we know about how Lucifer interacts with and thinks about sinners is a red flag. There are no flags of any other colors.
And look, I'm willing to give Lucifer the benefit of some doubt if he continues avoiding sinners in S3. Maybe at this point there's some degree of fear or worry or anxiety about how much he fucked up in S2. Maybe there's some character growth we could do with that. But the point is, Lucifer hating sinners is a character flaw, and a pretty extreme one. And I actually think it's one of the most interesting things going on with Lucifer's character at this point, so erasing it in fanworks is so fucking boring.
also,
(what else could he POSSIBLY have had going on?)
made me laugh out loud. you know what, yeah. what COULD he have been doing? get out of your house, lu!
Lucy was in hiding because he was afraid to face his ex-boyfriend (I’m joking…or am I?)
See this is even worse if true, because why are you letting your messy lovelife cause problems for your child. Unbelievable. Alastor, famed asexual, would never. In fact he used his messy love life to solve problems for Charlie--
Also amidst all of the Lucifer critique (it’s not slander if it’s true) I feel I should clarify that I LIKE Lucifer lmfao. I know it doesn’t sound like that from the last 48 hours but I do like that funky little creature.
