“Actually my name is Bennett, not amy. Thanks for the help though!”

     Wh-- oh. Sophia giggled at that, shaking her head,

     “No no. ‘Mon ami’ means ‘my friend’. I am from Fontaine, le pays de l'eau. Er, the nation overseen by the Hydro Archon. My name’s Sophia! And.. can I ask what made you miss that small ledge??”

     The thud was legendary, and Sophie rushed over to the boy and helped him stand as best she could,

     “Oh archons, are you okay?! That was a nasty fall, _mon ami_!”

⚡️They froze slightly, slowly turning their head towards her before quickly withdrawing their fingers and bolting back a bit. The yaksha stared at them for a moment before swallowing a bit as they turned away with a nervous laugh.

“A-Ahaaha. Uh Nope! I was just… just leaving!”

     Blink. Blinkblink. Her head tilted as she gazed at them, bolting backwards and looking for all the world like someone with their hand caught in the cookie jar,

     “Are you sure? There’s plenty, and I do have another bowl you can have.” she offered again, just so it couldn’t be said that she didn’t. It was kind of cute, though, watching them fumble over themselves.

🔔 A soft hum left the old woman as she began to pour two cups of tea, noticing that she had company. A kind smile making its way onto her lips as she looked towards her guest.

“Please… Why don’t you take a seat?”

     “Hm? Oh-- sorry, miss, I didn’t mean to intrude. I was exploring and.. well, here I am.” The smile set her at ease immediately, reminded of her own Grand-mere. Slowly the woman settled down at the seat, peering at the tea.

     How much would this cost, she wondered,

     “You’re very kind, ma’am. Thank you. I’m Sophia Auberlaint - I’m new from Fontaine.”

⚡️ Quick as lightning, they were by the pot. Looking around, they were well aware that there was a mortal nearby- that didn’t mean he couldn’t just have a small taste… right? So they moved to lightly dip their fingers in when they heard her, pausing for a moment. Maybe this wasn’t a good idea… they knew that Bosacius would chide him for this but it was too late now.

     “There it is!” she grabbed up the spice, and made her way out of the tent. And, sure enough, she came face to face with someone who was about to stick two fingers into the pot of stew. A hot minute of staring later, and Sophia cleared her throat.

     Headtilt.

     “Do, uhm.. do- you want a bowl?” she asked, noting their fingers before looking back up at him.

⚡️ Bonanus lifted their head, sniffing slightly as they caught a whiff of something. Whatever it was smelt good… Carefully, the electro yaksha made their way towards the source- peeking around the wall, they noticed someone had a fire going and that there was a pot on. They know that if the others found out he might get in trouble but they couldn’t help themselves!

“…Maybe just a tiny taste…”

     Just a little bit longer, letting the pot simmer. The stew was thick, as it should be, and the chunks of meat thick (but not overly so) and the flavors had married wonderfully. Her mother may have passed away while she herself was young, but her father had learned to cook as well from her maternal grandmother, so he had passed the knowledge down.

     Sophia was not at the pot, currently, but she could be heard rummaging about in the tent nearby,

     “Where is that spice..!”

“Eheh! I guessed right then! You are from Fontaine.” Venti said doing a sweeping bow to her smiling. “The pleasure is mine! I love the shanties of Fontaine. They always are the best way to get an introduction into ones culture.”  He looked at the wandering sailors smiling, “It’s also a wonderful way to stave off homesickness they say.” His fingers tapped out a new beat on the lyre’s frame. “So tell me miss, do you think in exchange for the song  you could buy this bard a drink?” 

     “Fontaine is certainly a place to be homesick for. I miss my fathers but, this is the best course for me I think!” She gestured for him to walk with her, making her way down the thoroughfare. Sophia listened to him talk and strum his lyre, enjoying the sound and the light-hearted way he spoke.

     It was so different from the sailors she’d dealt with and from her father’s friend that she and Mercer were staying with. Liyue Harbor was a city of business and contracts, and everyone was Very Serious™ about everything. Some light-hearted joy was refreshing!

     He mentioned a drink, and she actually smiled,

     “I actually haven’t had breakfast yet, so why not breakfast as well? My treat!”

It wasn’t hard to spot a citizen of Fontaine if you looked hard enough. The ones who came from the sea of the land always held a certain level of grace in their walk. Even their sailors were a treat to see how fludily they could move through a crowd.  He smiled sliding up to the woman. A playful wink and the song left his lips, hands drumming the beat to the song on his lyre.  “Pour retrouver ma douce amie Oh mes boués, ouh là ouh là là. Pour retrouver ma douce amie Oh mes boués, ouh là ouh là “ 

     New friend?

     New friend! Sophia laughed as he strummed his lyre and sang to her, and naturally she had to sing back to him,

      “Pique la baleine, joli baleinier        Pique la baleine, je veux naviguer.        Pique la baleine, joli baleinier        Pique la baleine, je veux naviguer!”

     The woman laughed, even going so far as to continue with the Fontaine-bred sea shanty,

       “Aux milles mers j'ai navigué         Oh, mes bouées ouh là ouh lala~.“ and she spun away, ending up bent over a bit and gesturing for him to continue should he wish to. If he didn’t, Sophia would laugh and straighten, curtseying before him,

     “It is good to make your acquaintance, mon ami! I’m not used to someone knowing Fontaine’s beautiful songs, including the songs of the sea. I’m so glad!”
