We had some leftover sign spots in the store, so I set out to create my Rhode Island magnum opus, in the form of a night/day illustrations juxtaposed over one another. As I get closer to leaving Whole Foods Market and Rhode Island I wanted to leave this as a thank you for letting me come down and learn so much and grow so much as person - even though a good amount of you spent my first month down here flipping me off as I drove around, I now assume that's just how you Rhode Islanders wave at eachother. The illustrations are two things I find that are synonymous with my most posetive experiences of summers in RI: My first journey through Providence on the night of a Waterfire lighting a of the lighthouse on Block Island. “with water we are bound”

The genesis of life is one of the most debatable subjects I can think of - but one undeniable constant is seen in all life on this beautiful planet : it’s connection to water. These designs are available as shirts, stickers, ect. on the WATERBOUND TeePublic shop, where every purchase is one step towards the growth of WATERBOUND.  Where there is water, life seems to be summoned in whatever way you choose to believe. This image, based on alchemical circles and symbols, has roots in mythology & science.  The outer ring features a quote from JFK - while the interior words feature a brief poem about the origins of water and it’s guiding hand in the creation of life on earth:

With water we are bound as molten mother chilled basalt rivers froze vestal waters spilled steam and gas arose shielding new life protected from cosmic strife with water we are bound

Working on other designs for WATERBOUND...

I admit this one is less successful as I have passion in both design and illustration - where this is just one half to whole coin. As I develop this brand I plan on blurring the line between the sides to really refine a unique and modern brand identity.

Here is a version, and a crowd favorite, of the original WATERBOUND logo. 

I like the use of water imagery because it is a great metaphor for our connection to Earth and the life residing on it - it was here at the start of life and in one way or another it will go on to nourish life beyond those alive today.

I created everything you see, except for the beautiful water photograph in the background - I found an open use licensed photo via google for that. If anyone knows the artist please let me know so I can credit them.

This was the first image I made for WATERBOUND

Backstory: WATERBOUND started as my go to name for video game guilds and clans, in full it is the Waterbound Gang, abbreviated as H2OG. Recently I’ve been wanting to do more with this brand that I’ve grown very fond of. 

I have been working towards developing it into something. Starting small with a teepublic account to generate initial income. From here I plan on branching out and approaching other creators to grow until this idea becomes a full blown business. 

I see WATERBOUND as a movement fueled by aesthetics and the unseen connections we share with each other and the environment around us. It’s small now, but together we will grow. Once it becomes sustainable I will be seeking to work with organizations that help protect the environment and uplift those most at risk in society. I want to work with those on the cutting edge of technology and social media to raise awareness and generate results for said organizations. But for now, I just WATERBOUND to make fun and meaningful illustrations and designs to generate revenue that I put back into WATERBOUND to keep it growing.
