incredibly captivated by this game and i do want to try to grab it when it's out, but do you know what consoles it'll be on? if all else fails i can always find a playthrough but only having one device is always kind of constant disappointment lol

Yeah oh my god! I got to do a song with Cavetown for WTTW. I reached out last year with some ideas, and he wrote the song. Here were some of my thoughts to inform the song:
I often wonder what a cat thinks when she watches TV.
I wonder what a dog thinks when a large truck drives by.
I wonder, if an alien wonders what I think when I look at the stars...
What do the Deer and Fawn think, as they watch the light streak by the train window?
In wttw, you really are an animal. In those shoes, my hope is to have the ordinary start to seem alien, particularly with lights! From this perspective, the player might perceive our everyday world with fresh eyes again. I think that's fun, and also creates an opportunity to regain some appreciation of the marvels of our world. Light from phones, lamps, laptops, and... the moon.
The deer and fawn really do make some memories together throught lights, and that was the basis of the song. I'm hoping to get some more musical collaborations like this, that I think you guys will LOVE.
Love how this song turned out! Cavetown is a seriously good songwriter. Collaborating on this song is definitely one of the highlights of my artistic career. The song informed the section that eventually became the Moon Platform level.

Guys! We won an award with our game demo at SXSW Sydney! I'm so pleased that Way to the Woods was voted as the PEOPLE's CHOICE! We have been declared a good game.. by The People! There was an incredible selection of other games there, including Goodnight Universe and Desktop Explorer. This is a huge milestone, that was a chunky demo with about 30 minutes of gameplay. If you'd be so inclined or haven't already, you can bookmark the game on the STEAM PAGE here with a wishlist! They lost the trophy we were supposed to get so we just got given like... a human skull?

dumb idea that wont leave my head: pointless objective markers for the deer something that might fit better is 'title text' for when you enter a new area. but something about the game telling you to 'eat leaf' is so amusing. i wont do it, i shan't...

Hello! I've loved the concept and aesthetic of your game for years and I'm just wondering if there's an eta on the release date?
It should be within the next 6 months-ish, I'm demo-ing it soon at SXSW Sydney! As the final levels wrap up I will also need to do a bunch of testing and wait for translating :3

game design rule: cursor that turns into a little hand to indicate that you can grab or touch something > raytracing
in this gif, i was testing out having the deer auto-walk to interactions instead of purely snapping into animation. so actually, im only pressing one button! i loved how the deer auto-jumped into place.
unfortunately there will not actually bins in the train carriage, i dont want to mislead you. also: i have updated the steam page as i prepare the game for the next stage!
