some pride icons I meant to postâŚ. uh⌠in June đď¸đ§
better late than never here are some (mostly) pride icons of the main StarWay cast!
Itâs important to me that in my stories Iâm able to represent a variety of queer characters. Queer protagonists, queer villains, queer characters with flaws, queer characters that donât just exist in the background for representation points. Queer characters that arenât playing it safe for mainstream audiences. Queer characters written by queer people. So here are some brightly colored animals đ Long live gay dragons
(Characters in order are Lucaif Redimir (gay man), Carnelian Marolvina FireDi (pansexual), Limer Bayoun (aroace), Nightfall Starcrest (bisexual trans man), Princess Sunset (demigirl), Ember Solbraizz (cishet), Queen Tundra (lesbian))
So whatâs the deal with souls anyway? (Long explanatory post)
In the StarWay, souls are divided into three parts- The Core, Soul Energy, & Soul Remnant
The Core - The Core is the conscious being of the soul. Itâs essentially a copy of the brain translated into a type of soul matter. Itâs the core of a being, itâs who you are.
Soul Energy - If the Core is the brain of the soul then Soul Energy is the heart & blood. Soul Energy, or SE is the property that allows the soul to function & exist. Without Soul Energy, there is no soul.
Different souls have different amounts of SE, & souls with higher amounts of SE are considered âstrongerâ while those with lower amounts âweakerâ. The amount of SE isnât based on any physical, psychological, or moral factor, meaning that if youâre a strong, moral, true-to-yourself soul that doesnât necessarily mean youâll have high amounts of SE & if youâre a weak, fragile, evil soul that doesnât mean youâll have low amounts of SE. The amount an organism has really just depends on how the soul formed, the organism has no way to influence that.
So if having a âstrongerâ soul isnât indicative of moral or physical characteristics, then what does it mean to have a stronger soul? Well, to the mortal soul itself- pretty much nothing. An organism can go its entire existence without knowing the amount of SE it has, it has generally no effect on them as a person. The amount of SE only really matters to StarTreaders. StarTreaders are a very specific type of soul that is made out of a fractured Core & Soul Remnant- they donât have any SE within their soul. Since SE is needed for the soul to function, StarTreaders are a parasitic species that need to consume SE from mortals, & thus mortals with higher amounts of it are more beneficial to StarTreaders. StarTreaders are able to claim SE from mortals by claiming their soul, this is usually done by the god injecting their blood into the mortalâs physical (alive) form- which causes a process called Corruption. Corruption is a very painful process where the mortalâs original blood drains out of their body so the StarTreaderâs blood can completely overtake the vessel, giving the StarTreader complete access to the soul. Usually Corrupted individuals die during the process, but in the Afterlife their soul will belong to the StarTreadee who corrupted them. On the rare occasions where a mortal does survive, they pass down this blood gene. Their descendantsâ souls will also belong to the StarTreader, but they will be born this way rather than also having to be corrupted.
One more final important thing to note is that having high amounts of SE isnât just beneficial for survival, but it can also lead to a StarTreader developing god like powers. Hence the market for SE amount StarTreaders is very competitive.
Soul Remnant - Soul Remnant consists of miscellaneous soul properties that help bind the spilt together- the glue of the soul. Hypothetically speaking, Soul Remnant is the only part of the soul that a mortal doesnât need to survive, but it makes the soul much more stable & existence much easier.
The most important thing to note about Soul Remnant is that itâs the only part of the soul that continues to exist wholly after the soulâs destruction. Soul Energy completely dissipates, while the Core is at best fractured beyond repair & at worst completely destroyed. The Soul Remnant scatters across the galaxy after the soulâs destruction & on rare occasions it combines with a fractured core - creating a StarTreader. StarTreader souls are very weak compared to mortal souls.
In regards to the StarWay- Sveltyy & Temno are both StarTreaders. They decided to rule over the StarWay together & split the amount of Soul Energy among the planet evenly between themselves to prevent either one growing more powerful than the other. Sveltyyâs souls were referred to as Mid-Days, Temnoâs souls were referred to as Mid-Nights. When Sveltyy grew power hungry, this means that he attempted to cause mass Corruption on the Mid-Nights into Mid-Days. When Temno & the Mid-Nighys were unfairly banished from the planet, Sveltyy created propaganda painting the surviving Mid-Nights as a âforce of darknessâ to make his mass wiping / conquering of the people seem justified.
Prophets are StarWaiians granted powers from Sveltyy & Temno themselves, but StarWaiians can only become Prophets if they have high amounts of Soul Energy. Granting these powers also causes the StarTreader to use often detrimental amounts of claimed Soul Energy themselves, hence why Prophets are rare despite the benefits of having them. In Temnoâs last ditch effort to get back onto the StarWay mentioned in my last post, that involved Temno dumping all of his remaining Soul Energy into a single mortal to give them the Prophetic ability to actually be able to leave the Wasteland. (Note that since StarTreaders souls are so weak Temno was unable to do this himself & had to put it onto a mortal, otherwise he wouldâve left the Wasteland a looong time ago.) Temno gives the mortal a mission to corrupt a Mid-Day with high amounts of SE so he could regain power & recuse everyone from the Wasteland. This was successful, & thus begins Temnoâs slow quest of corrupting more & more Mid-Days this way until he finally had enough power to launch a full invasion of the StarWay. On the other hand, Sveltyy grants Nightfall the Prophetic ability to avoid corruption, which causes Sveltyy to spend a decent amount of SE. This starts off the huge war between Sveltyy & Temno present within the main series, as Temno grows in power & Sveltyy decreases in power.
I know thatâs a lot of needlessly complicated confusing fantasy stuff so if you have absolutely no clue what you just read feel free to ask!! đ My ask box is always open Iâm always open to answering questions & elaborating on things :)

Finally posting some original art after taking a long break. OC art tends to not do as well as fandom stuff so reshares are appreciated :]
Havenât used this blog in forever oops- To make up for that hereâs a little look at one the StarWayâs biggest antagonists- Temno!!
Temno seen as something equivalent to Christianityâs devil within StarWaiian mythology. Itâs said that thousands of years ago Sveltyy & Temno peacefully ruled over the StarWay together until Temno grew bitter, jealous, & sought to take over the StarWay all for himself. With an army of darkness by his side, Temno wreaked havoc on the StarWay until Sveltyy banished him & âthe darknessâ to the Wasteland, a barely habitable moon that orbits the StarWay. Thatâs how the tale goes, but is it actually true? Throughout the StarWay the protagonists learn of Sveltyyâs corrupt & tyrannical rule & itâs revealed that Temno never instigated a war for sole control of the StarWay- but Sveltyy did. Sveltyy tried to overthrow Temno & when Temno & his citizens were unable to successfully fight back they were banished & their image was forever tainted. Temno was painted as a villain, his subjects massacred by Sveltyy as âforces of darknessâ, & Sveltyy as a hero & all kind god.
Time goes on, & after numerous failed attempts to escape the Wasteland Temno & his subjects are left to rot on for thousands of years. While most of his subjects die, Temno, being a god, never does. Instead he is left immobile & starving in scorching heat for thousands of years, watching his subjects die over & over while he is helpless to do anything. He grows vengeful & wants nothing more than to see Sveltyy suffer. Temno nearly kills himself in a last ditch effort to finally make it off the Wasteland (& actually does die for a brief period of time), & is finally successful with gaining a small amount of control back on the StarWay. The threat of Temno regaining large amounts of control of the StarWay prompts Sveltyy to create the Prophecy to stop him- the Prophecy that the main story follows. Although he is a victim, Temnoâs vengeful attitude leads him to becoming exactly like Sveltyy. He manipulates & traumatizes vulnerable StarWaiians into helping him regain power, massacres the opposing godâs subjects by the thousands, etc. What I enjoy most about his character is that heâs a sympathetic villain who never gets redeemed, to the end he lets his hate consume him & loses track of the good intentions he once had. His actions of genocide make him too far gone to be redeemed, creating a dilemma where neither god is the rightful ruler of the StarWay, but which is the lesser of two evils.
Temno very recently got a redesign; his old design looked like this:
While I liked his older design, it didnât stand out as âgodlyâ at all. He looked nearly indistinguishable from your average StarWaiian despite being a god. So I gave him features not seen in the StarWaiian species, such as an extra pair of eyes, bat like wings that double as a second pair of arms, & a big arm tail used for gripping things! Oh, heâs also gigantic too
Early redesign concepts ^
Royal mask concept + his design before being banished ^
Extra limb concept work ^
Thereâs a bit more to his character regarding how gods claim mortal souls, how the types of souls they own enhances their powers, their mortality, soul lore in general, etc. But Iâll save that for another post since itâs decently complicated lol. For now all you need to know is that he was once a kind & benevolent ruler who was unfairly screwed over, & after thousands of years of suffering became fixated on revenge & became the very thing he hated the most~
Reshares appreciated original content never does as well as fandom content (hence why I like never use this blog) so Iâd appreciate the extra reach :]
Happy pride month everybody! Iâve done a lot of pride icons over the past couple of months & intend to post them soon >:) For now heâs Nightfall with his color palette adjusted to the trans flag!!
Happy pride month everyone!! I have SO much pride stuff I could post during this month & I thought Iâd start off with this thing I made back for trans day of visibility! â ď¸TW DRAWN GORE BELOW THE CUT!!â ď¸
I might end up deleting this post because spoilers & stuff but for now hereâs a little shitpost on some late Arc I StarWay stuff
I know this image might make it seem like Nightfall (purple fox) killed Hazel (dead as hell brown cat) but itâs actually not like that at all!! For context: Ember (orange cat) is a ghost, hence the blue outline. Sheâs been dead since she was six rotations old (which is just StarWay vocab for six years old, literally meaning six rotations of the planet). After her death, she was trained by Sveltyy, the StarWayâs god, to act as Nightfallâs guardian angel. Nightfall is the main Prophet in Sveltyyâs latest prophecy & Ember has been watching over him to make sure he carries out his duties & stuff.
Nightfall & the business heâs a part of worked for Hazel & her abusive boyfriend, currently an unnamed villain character. Said unnamed villain ended up killing Hazel after Nightfallâs business cut ties with the two, & while Nightfall & co. tried to save her it was far too late to do so. Ember ended up taking in Hazelâs ghost after her death & the two became really close in the Afteelife, Hazel being the first real friend Emberâs ever really had.
Ember is closely tied to Sveltyy being the guardian angel in his largest prophecy ever & all. But of course, Sveltyy is not the all good god he poses to be & is very much a tyrant in disguise. Hazel gets dangerously close to Ember & ends up discovering the truth behind Sveltyyâs rule. Hazel confronts Ember over this & Ember FREAKS out since her entire life sheâs been groomed into blindly worshiping Sveltyy. As a result of this, Ember tells Sveltyy that Hazel knows pretty much everything & Hazel is promptly executed to silence the truth from getting out (when a ghost is killed,:they disappear from existence entirely. they donât go to any second afterlife or anything - theyâre quite literally gone forever.) Ember was pretty much responsible for Hazelâs (second & permanent) death, & the guilt has been eating her alive ever since.
Nightfall also discovers the truth about Sveltyy- which is the main conflict of the back half of Arc I. Ember & Nightfall are constantly at each otherâs throats since Nightfall believes Sveltyy needs to be overthrown while Ember is Sveltyyâs biggest bootlicker. The two are mutually toxic & are actually destroying each otherâs mental well-beingsâ. Nightfallâs main goal to expose Sveltyy to the rest of the world, making his grudge against Ember both political & also deeply personal given the twoâs extensive & rough history. Nightfall hates Ember & through his corruption arc is actively trying to get her to crack.
At one point, Nightfall discovers what happened to Hazel, & at the beginning of his corruption arc as the first genuinely despicable thing he does, he digs up Hazelâs rotted corpse & leaves it at a place where Ember would see. He does to get his point across as a âlook at what your blind devotion to Sveltyy has doneâ statement. Both petty & horrific, it symbolizes the point of no return for both Nightfall & Ember.
So there you go thereâs your shit load of context for this shitpost đ
:3
ive noticed all the ask games for ocverses tend to be centered around characters and less the actual ocverse, so im making one for the worlds/stories your ocs take place in! feel free to reblog
1.) how would you describe the world your story takes place in?
2.) if you gave an in depth description of your story to someone who was not all the way paying attention, what would their takeaway be?
3.) any recurring images/elements?
4.) what would you say is the message, if there is one.
5.) pick a theme song for the tv adaptation.
6.) speaking of tv adaptations, why would yours get cancelled? (other than capitalism)
7.) how would you describe the relationships between the characters in the story within eight words or less?
8.) what inspired your world building, if anything?
9.) if your story got a video game adaptation/spin off, what would it be like? if your project is already a video game, do this for a novelization.
10.) if your story is titled, why did you choose that title?
11.) give a general summary of the plot/world/characters.
12.) okay be honest. pick a favorite oc from this ocverse.
13.) how long have you been working on this project? what has changed from the outset?
14.) whats your favorite part of this story/project?
15.) how/through which format is it told? (ie webcomic, video game, books etc)
16.) imagine the entire story takes place but in the meantime the characters all also have tumblr. what kind of (terrible) tumblr posts would happen?
17.) describe the "required reading" to understand your vision. be as pretentious as possible.
18.) what aspect of the story would get you #canceled on twitter?
19.) describe the sillies you think about but that dont go in the story.
20.) your ocverse just got a movie trilogy a la hunger games style. how have they horribly mangled your message/theme so that the movies are now a showcase of what the original was condemning?
21.) you have been given unlimited funds to make your story idea a reality. what are you sparing no expenses for?
22.) you have been given unlimited funds to make two adaptations of some sort, however you cannot make any other adaptations of any other sort. which two formats do you choose?
23.) describe how everyones character gets butchered once in the public eye?
24.) best scene youve written?
25. best scene you havent yet written, but have an idea for?
Shoutout to Carnelian FireDi & her girlfriend with comically large eyelashes fr fr
Uhhh what else to wider for a captionâŚ. ask me about the StarWay Iâd youâd like idk⌠or donât & instead just behold my disaster sapphics I care them both very much
I realized I should probably clean this blog to like.. actually explain my projects instead of just posting miscellaneous info that no one knows the context behind?? So here's me finally doing that
Here's a little character summary for
Lucaif Redimir - protagonist of the StarWay
Lucaif is a Neutral canine- meaning he has no type of natural power in a world where people often do. For example there are Fire Divideds who can breathe or produce fire & withstand excruciatingly hot temperature, there's Night Divideds who gain enhanced senses when in the dark, etc. Lucaif had a relatively normal life growing up & eventually created a freelance exploring/treasure hunting business with a few of his friends, where they are hired by other StarWaiians to travel the continent of Anamala with the purpose of achieving a specific goal- whether it be marking a place to create more accurate maps or finding desired resources.
On one of these business ventures Lucaif is almost murdered by a royal guard who suspects that he's trying to steal from the monarchy (which.. in all fairness may have been his objective..) by knocking him into a Starpool. On the StarWay, the existence of an afterlife & their god- Sveltyy- has been proven & the living realm is able to interact with the dead through Starpools. Starpools can be incredibly dangerous, however, & only the highest level of trained priest should attempt to use them. Otherwise it could lead to death or being possessed & stuff.
Lucaif survives being knocked into the Starpool (although briefly falls into a coma) but now he has the uncanny ability to see the dead. at all times. without accessing the Starpool. He is haunted by this one feline specifically, who whispers secrets of a great prophecy to come. Seeing every ghost within the area at all times is more of a curse than a blessing, & Lu often finds himself tormented by this strange ghost keeping him up at night & flashing horrific imagery into his eyes. He isn't able to say no to any ghost that needs his help & will burn himself out running life-threatening tasks to put these ghosts at peace. He's very tired please give him a break
Limer Bayoun !
imestone "Limer" Bayoun- one of the main characters of the StarWay ! He's a Sea-Divided canine from the deepest swamps in Anamala, who was always itching to leave his small marsh community & see the world. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do with his arc at the moment, but for now he's the StarWay's lovable short king (he's 4'6 feet) who squeaks like a dog toy & exists in a perpetual state of :P
Trying to work on shape language with his new ref. I want him to be very rounded & soft & I think I achieved that well : )
