This is a new split bamboo fly rod for brookies I’ve just completed based on Paul Young’s “Midge” taper. It is a 6’3”, three-piece, two-tip for a 4 weight line. This 8′ 4-wt fiberglass fly rod is built on an amber Epic 480 blank. She is for sale. It is an extremely smooth caster with a somewhat traditional moderate action.  Like most of my new builds, it features one of my own fiberglass/carbon fiber weave grips, extremely tough, ultralight, super sensitive and the most comfortable grips I've every used. A newly completed 7’6” 4-weight fly rod. This is using a custom Carbon 4 blank with dark nickel snake guides and an amber agate stripping guide. The grip I made by pouring and shaping a urethane foam core, and skinning it with a carbon/fiberglass weave material. The rod was built to a customer’s specifications. It casts both a 3 and 4 wt line nicely. #waywardangler #customrodbuilding #flyfishing

i went with a brookie-inspired pattern on this custom 7’ 6” 3wt Blue Halo blank. I’ve put the BH 3wt fiberglass blanks to the test while blue lining for “natives”, our beloved Appalachian brook trout, and it’s performed perfectly on tight streams. On my personal one, I regretted not embedding my signature magnetic hook keeper in my custom carbon fiber/fiberglass weave grip, so this one has it. The stripping guide is an original Mildrum SRMC and running guides are Snake Brand.
