The dark circles around dark eyes are going bruise - like —— she hasn’t slept since she last woke up in the lab, screaming.  (  every time she gets too close, she digs her nails into the scar in her back.  )  Afraid of what sleep might bring / afraid of the weakness she knows the terror displays.

“I’m —— okay, Aqua.  Promise.”  She seems them all so rarely anymore, always asleep / an object for study / a tool to save.  Doesn’t want to spend her rare days awake making them worry over her.  “Just tired.”

the   lab   is   not   a   place   she   is   all   too   fond   of   ,    &    a   place   she   could   not   quite   imagine   spending   so   much   time   in   .    their   desperate   search   for   sora   has   drawn   each   of   them   in   a   different   direction    ——       &    here   ,    perhaps   seen   as   little   more   than   something   to   be   studied     /     observed     /     comprehended   ,    she   cannot   imagine   what   kairi   is   enduring   .    she   visits   between   trips   to   the   realm   of   darkness   ,    a   reprieve      (       hopefully       )      for   them   both

bruising   beneath   kairi’s   eyes   draws   attention   ,    but    ——       on   the   matter   ,    aqua   has   no   ground   to   stand   on      (       they’re   similar   to  her   own   ,    after   all   .    sleep   comes   rarely   ,    &    she   is   loathe   to   accept   it   .       )      reassurances   come   quick   ,    &    perhaps   the   smile   she   offers   is    ——       not   quite   a   smile   at   all     /     a   smile   that   doesn’t   quite   reach   her   eyes    /     a   smile   lined   with   sorrow   .    here   ,    there   isn’t   much   to   be   said   .       “         i’m   glad   ,         “       spoken   low   ,    as   though   she’s   uncertain   of   whether   to   speak   at   all    ——       &    the   half   -   laugh   that   follows   sounds   too   much   like   a   sigh   ,       “         i   ...    might   just   know   how   you   feel   .         “       &    i   wish   i   could   just   make   it   go   away   ;    as   if   it   would   be   that   easy   .
