🐞 a ladybug for everyone who needs good luck
Imagine being Jack Abbot and you come home from a nine month deployment and your twink bf has turned into this. I bet he blacked out for a second.
coming up for air
[the pitt, jack abbot/michael "robby" robinavitch, t, 2.2k]
Jack is drinking coffee at 10pm on a Thursday when Robby calls.
happy pride to the old men yaoi!!!
this took me SO long but i tried to make pope a lil bit grey just to visualise 🫡
There is only one rule for Rabbotfest and that is that this is exclusively Michael Robby robinavitch/Jack abbot event. Other character can make appearances but the main ship should be rabbot.
The rest is just a guid line. You don’t have to do every single prompt, feel free to skip any that you don’t vibe with that’s okay!
Next is please try and post the correct prompt for the correct day! If you find out about this after the fact than yeah spam post to keep up that’s fine!
Next is tagging, you can @therabbotfest or just use the tag rabbotfest2026! So myself and others can see/like/reblog just interact in general.
Other tags such as rabbotfestday(insertnumberhere) is also a tag that I would like to see used. To help keep organized!
Most of the prompt from my perspective at least don’t scream nsfw but if any of them do feel free to skip the day, fade to black or ask me for an alternative prompt! I can pull from the runners up poll for you!
And remember, have fun! The event starts the second week of June, so the 7th till the 13th
The prompt list is as follows
Drunken confessions - Day 1
Touched starved -Day 2
You came/you called - Day 3
Stubbornly injured and protectively exhausted- Day 4
Soulmate au - Day 5
It's rotten work, not to me, not if it's you - Day 6
Unwanted attention = overprotectiveness - Day 7 https://archiveofourown.org/collections/TheRabbotfest/profile Ao3 collection link!

"Write character relationships that are normal" WRONG ☝ CODEPENDENCY BEAM 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
idk how to explain it but im never truly comfortable with the way people insinuate that all older folks are inherently bigoted. it always feels like it kind of hand-waves away personal responsibility like ohhhh grandpa cant help homophobic, hes old. well ive met plenty of older folks who are normal about gay people. i think grandpa could be better. i think we should hold grandpa to higher standards.
I think the deep misunderstanding from the fandom of robby's unconscious bias towards men, and *certain* fandom groups (at times, deliberate) mischaracterisation of it to paint it as intentionally malicious and overt misogyny, is genuinely one of the things I'm saddest about after season 2.
you've taken a very carefully written character- shown to be deeply, deeply good, and deeply relatable to the medical community, and based your entire view of him on an unconscious element of his personality, instead of accepting that good people have flaws. robby's bias (and it's storyline in s1) is meant to be a thing where you go "oh yes, even very competent, very kind men will have this bias often, due to the structure of society. he's written this way because he's realistic. his bias isn't good, but it doesn't de facto make him a bad person."
it's *not* meant to be something that you cling to to discredit his failing mental health, his overt and intentional goodness and his care for others. it's *not* meant to be something that you hunt through every scene looking for- because it's not there in every scene, or even whole batches of episodes. it doesn't inform every choice he makes and it's not present every time he talks to women- it's not even present *most* of the time. you're *not* supposed to hate him.
it's meant to be an occasional callback to the realities of society and how that impacts the behaviour of people who are (as far as they've thought about it) considering themselves feminist. because robby most likely *does* consider himself this way. he absolutely believes in equality and feminism, and he will stick up for women when he sees they're treated poorly (eg, the scene with the male paramedics). he just also doesn't notice the underlying bias he acts on at times.
the inclusion of his bias is meant to do the same thing as every other bias shown in the show that good characters have. mckays unconscious weight bias, langdons gender bias, ogilvies bias against drug users... all there to show good people carry these things, that no one is perfect, and we should look at our actions towards others.
the fandoms reaction to robbys bias being to wish for his characters death, rather than to understand the intended use as a realistic flaw, is frankly appalling. I will always mourn the interesting, nuanced conversations we *could* have had.
Being a kind person means being kind to yourself as well.
thinking about that first night trinity brings dennis back to her apartment. the uber or bus or car ride where she tells him if he thanks her again, or asks if she’s sure one more time, she’ll leave him on the side of the road. when he doesn’t say anything, she finds herself softening, just slightly, in a way she wouldn’t be able to name if asked. she blames it on the food she had at dinner, the way it settled something in her, and not on him.
when they arrive she tells him the lock is sticky, that it hasn’t been replaced in a while, so he’s going to have to jiggle the key just so. she demonstrates without ceremony and tells him she’ll wrestle up the spare the next day, turning serious when she explains that it’s the only one and he better not lose it. he realizes then that while he might have to be careful with what he says out loud, he can show it in other ways, and has already decided to fix the door the first chance he has.
the apartment is, of course, very her; dennis makes note of everything. when she flicks on the hall light she tells him shoes off at the door, always—no outside shoes past this point—and if he wants to wear something on his feet in the house, it has to be a pair that never goes outside. then she tells him about her cat, who is wary of men and will probably stay hidden, and not to take it personally. except when they walk into the living room, the cat is perched on the back of the couch and immediately pads over to dennis.
trinity disguises her discomposure by gesturing around and telling him she doesn’t have very many rules, except that he cannot come into her room without knocking, and if the door is closed he is to assume she wants to be left alone. he’s welcome to whatever’s in the fridge, but he’s not to touch her things without asking. she shows him his room, tells him he can decorate it however he wants, then brings him to the crown jewel of the apartment—the in-unit washer dryer—and tells him to throw all his shit in there immediately. then she whirls around and announces she’s getting in the shower, and he should do the same, her nose wrinkling slightly.
they take their showers and settle in their respective rooms, but after the day they’ve had, neither of them can fully relax.
trinity gets up to make tea and startles when dennis follows the sound of her clanking into the kitchen—says jesus fuck, you scared me—and he files that away, resolves to make more noise next time so he doesn’t scare her. she makes him a cup without asking. they both know what’s keeping them up and they do not talk about it, just sit together, the little black ball of fur that is trinity’s cat—who will, ultimately, end up sleeping in dennis’ bed most nights because, as trinity will say, she’s a backstabber—fast asleep on the carpet between them.
at some point dennis finally says i couldn’t fall asleep and trinity says no shit, me neither. dennis deflates a little, but then trinity asks if he’s ever seen the show love island, and dennis thinks she might be having him on but finds it in himself to joke and asks her what a “show” is. a genuine, bright laugh is startled out of her. you’re such a fucking huckleberry, she says, oh my god, i can’t wait to corrupt you in every way.
they migrate to the couch and she navigates to netflix. he manages to go a record-breaking few minutes without asking questions before they all burst out of him, and when she doesn’t respond, he looks over to find she’s fallen asleep. he feels something in his chest come loose looking at her. her cat has since claimed his lap so he’s trapped, and he doesn’t remember deciding to stay, but one minute he’s debating the merits of somehow getting back to his room without waking her, and the next he’s opening his eyes with a crick in his neck, disoriented, heart lurching for a moment before the warm, insistent weight of the cat knocks sense back into him. he gets up carefully, repositions the blanket over trinity, and goes to see what’s in the fridge to make her breakfast: the first of what will become many small ways of saying what he can’t.
michael robby robinavitch they could never make me outright hate you, for i see your unglamorised experience of a mental health crisis and i empathise with you, i see your trauma and your inability to address it and understand it comes from a culture of stoicism, i see that you’re not a violent dog, you don’t know why you bite
in his words,
“people don’t always respond to trauma the way you expect them to.” and they should be treated with fucking compassion and care.
not saying it’s easy, but when has loving ever been easy? you can’t pour from an empty cup so take care of yourself too.
michael’s not perfect, he’s fucked and flawed. he’s done so much shit trying to keep that damn ER afloat but it’s at so many costs.
and a handful of the characters understand why, doesn’t mean it’s easy, once again.
baran, dana, abbot, santos, javadi, mckay— almost all of them. they extend empathy, concern, compassion, love while also being frustrated because there is only so much you can do to stop someone slowly speeding over a cliff.
none of the characters in this show are perfect either, so stop putting them in that lens and dragging robby for being on the same platform as them.
and as someone that’s going through a very rough time with my friends that similarly struggle like robby, it makes me fucking livid seeing people hate the fuck out of him, cancelling him out like the rest. what do you not understand? truly.
don’t watch the fucking show if you don’t understand nuances.
reverse gaslighting where i pretend to know exactly what you are talking about
you know what we all moved on from too soon? the emotional implications of dana being fully aware the only person robby really listens to is jack and that the truly hard, painful truths ✨have✨ to come from jack to even have any chance of making it through to robby.
dana, who loves and respects robby, who robby clearly loves and respects right back, who robby can't fathom running the hospital without, but even through all that mutual adoration and affection there is still a final mile between them, a wall dana simply can’t breakthrough, one that robby is stubborn and steadfast about maintaining. whether that’s because of some kind of internalized bias or some misguided sense of responsibility or just sheer stubborness on robby’s end, who knows, but the cracks dana sees in robby are in spite of his effort, things robby is trying and failing to hide, rather than because robby lets her in to see him. robby trusts dana so much, but clearly still needs her to see him a certain way, to be the fearless leader, her partner in crime, someone who’s strong, the carer and never the one who needs care. if i had to guess i'd say at least toward the end of s2 he’s self aware enough to know dana has seen past that smokescreen, but even still at no point does robby ever let himself open up to her. he resists up until the very end and what he does reveals is reactive, almost out of his control, never meant to be shared except the veil is too thin and he is too tired to hide behind it.
with jack, robby still gnashes his teeth, but he’s doesn’t lie to him. it almost feels like he can’t, that he doesn't want to. oh he'll try to distract him, try to deflect so he doesn't have to give in, or he'll avoid him so he doesn't have to confront it, but when jack really really steps up to the plate and confronts robby directly it's almost like it's the secret code for robby's brain to shut up and listen. when jack point blank asks, robby answers. he hears him, even if he doesn't always believe him, even if he can't, and as far as we've seen on screen, it works. jack knows robby doesn't like to to listen because this is a song and a dance they've done before. when no one else can make robby even begin to listen, they look to jack to cross that line because it's a line he's been able to cross before.
and dana knows this, has clearly witnessed this enough times that she is fully aware that robby will defer to jack and listen to jack, especially when he will not listen to her. when jack can not read robby, he goes to dana, and when dana can not reach robby she goes to jack. dana is the sentinel, the watchful eyes and jack is the cavalry, the big guns, the hail mary when it comes to robby. dana is the brains and jack is the muscle and robby is the heart, and right now the heart is broken. the history that must exist between the three of them for both dana and jack to know this between them, to depend on one another to keep robby afloat. i imagine COVID pushed that to it's limit, and adamson's death pushed it right over that. years, maybe decades, of an unspoken rule that while robby tries keeps the hospital upright, dana and jack will try to keep robby upright and in the past year they've had to acknowledge it out loud twice now. dana knows that if robby is beyond her (and i imagine it doesn't happen that often), he is not beyond jack, and maybe up til now that has never ever been the case, but at the end of s2 it was so clear to me that dana was terrified they were there. jack spent that last hour watching robby, but dana spent that last hour watching jack, because dana knew that if robby was truly beyond them both, that was a robby they would lose forever.
Manifesting a hug for them when Robby's on the roof top. 🥺🥺
