ROSALIE CULLEN
“Well you’re still here, so clearly it’s not helping.”
‘ you know that you have legs and can leave, right? ’
KYLER EVERSON
Fingers reach up to brush a stray piece of her back, friendly smile making its way onto her face as a hand outstretches in offering. “K Y L E R, Kyler Everson. It’s nice to meet you as well.” And her hand is falling back to her side, fingers reaching out to give the dog a small scratch behind the ears. “—Don’t think I’ve ever seen you around before. You new to town there, or just visiting?”
stands, moves hands from the dog’s fur and takes hers in his own. if looking had been strange, touching is WORSE. static electricity makes it’s way around body, changing everything as their hands meet. he understands, now, just what the others have been saying all along about this moment. ‘ visiting, but perhaps a bit more long term than the statement suggests. i’m here in a SORT OF work capacity. ’
CLAIRE YOUNG
“i couldn’t imagine us staying gone for long either. la push needs you guys too.” she worried about what could happen in their absence from home but she had to believe the elders would call the pack home if they were needed. “if anyone asks i’ll just tell them you’re a weirdo and at the very least it would be true.”
‘ it’s all just a big challenge to see how fast we can run back if needed. ’ his shrug is light, though he also worries about leaving their home UNDEFENDED. it seems that half the supernatural world is here anyway. ‘ at leas i’m less of a weirdo than QUIL. ’
CLAIRE YOUNG
“me too. but we’ll go home eventually. or at least, i will. i can’t imagine living here forever.” there were too many things she loved about la push to ever really relocate permanently. “in the mean time maybe if we follow you around with a snow maker we can make as much snow as you’re melting.”
‘ i doubt the rest of us will be far behind you. ’ eyes long for home. he never wished to leave even before this life, small town boy, small town dreams. holds no t h o u g h t that this world is any better for him. ‘ suuure. that’s not gonna make people ask questions, CLAIRE BEAR. ’
KYLER EVERSON
“—Like them or not, it’s no reason for her to forget her MANNERS.” Still, she makes no movement to pull the pup back from introducing herself, lips turned up into a relieved smile that the stranger didn’t seem to mind (not everyone was so kind). “—I think she LIKES you.” Sure enough, the pup didn’t seem to have any qualms with the boy; which if you asked kyler, tended to say a lot about a person, whether the dogs liked them or not.
can’t stop eyes from tracing her features. this girl, THIS ANGEL, cut from cloth to steal his heart, made for him, a p p a r e n t l y. how was he meant to feel? what had the others always said. smiles to her, finds words in the corners of his mind. ‘ EMBRY. EMBRY CALL. ’ pauses. ‘ that’s uhh – that’s my name. HI. nice to meet you — ’ leaves space for her words, needing to know what he can call this girl.
ROSALIE CULLEN
“Anything to get rid of that smell.”
‘’ keep telling yourself that, if it help. ’
CLAIRE YOUNG
a genuine smile grew on her face as he spoke and finally she laughed. “in that case you might need to go back to la push. i can’t be responsible for you destroying an entire ecosystem.”
‘ all i’m saying is that i’m far to HOT to be here, and i miss home. ’ his expression pouts. a joke, perhaps, but one that comes fast. ‘ nothing melts in LA PUSH. ’
ROSALIE CULLEN
“Bunnies are child play.” Rosalie almost smirked. “I usually eat and kill things with fur.” She tiled her head. “You usually have fur, right?”
‘ did you just say you wanted to take a BITE out of me? ’

KYLER EVERSON
“ASPEN!” A sharp whistle escapes the brunette’s lip to summon the dog -who had been just seconds from mauling the other- back, an apologetic smile crossing her face. “—Sorry about her, she gets excited around new people.”
sees the dog first, strange kinship flows through veins as smiles grow. bends before looking to the owner, before everything changes. ‘ don’t worry. ’ and then eyes move upwards, a blind man seeing the sun, as world shifts, GRAVITY FAILS. this v i s i o n, this girl, changes life and feeling as he knows it. THIS, he thinks, this is more than they have ever said, more than he could have thought. ‘ she’s fine. I LOVE DOGS. ’
ROSALIE CULLEN
Rosalie tilted her head and barely curved her lips into a smirk. “At least I still have insults.” She said to him. “Still running around with your dogs, in the mud, with fleas after 20 years?” She asked him sarcastically.
‘ and here, i thought only old, broken record players repeated themselves this much. though, perhaps the OLD part is right. ’ sarcasm, MIRTH, an endless s t r e a m of words. ‘ still feeding on the EASTER BUNNY and pretending it gives you a soul. ’
ROSALIE CULLEN
Rosalie didn’t even seem the least bit phased by the dog in front of her. “That stench, isn’t very becoming of you.” She sassed back.
quick mouth, quicker wit. how jovial this wolf boy in the company of such sarcasm. ‘ oh, didn’t you hear? ROSALIE from twenty years ago called, and she wants her insults back. ’
ROSALIE CULLEN
“Damn right I’m not.” Rosalie said in a snarl with her eyes narrow. “Don’t ask me again.”
‘ snappy, barbie. ’ laughter comes quick, BARKS OUT. wolfish nature shines through even in this form. ‘ not eaten recently? HUNGER does not become you. ’
CLAIRE YOUNG
“can you believe how pretty it is here?” she said, staring at the screen on her digital camera. “i’ve been sight seeing all day. i can’t get enough of it. you should come along.”
‘ you know what happens to hot people in the snow, CLAIRE? we melt it. i am not joking at all. there is a p u d d l e around me. ’ laughter // sweet, fresh, real. ‘ you want me to melt the whole of ALASKA with you? ’
sighs // he’s been sat for too long – his coffee unforgivably cold in front of him. the run here was long, scouting the a r e a for themselves, and he had thought that this would help him out. his own mind had wandered, lost in the wilderness as he contemplated what being here meant.
‘ can you get me another —- SORRY. you’re not the waitress. ’
