This was my favorite moment of the night, the soft ways he tries to understand her, the way she earnestly, repeatedly reassures him that she loves him, that nothing will change that, even this seeming impasse. HIS FACE when she says ‘It was lovely.’ YOU THINK I’M LOVELY?? Ugh, you can visibly see the hope gradually start to fill his eyes again; you can see his heart slowly peek outside his chest and wander back onto his sleeve just for her.

My poor sweet darlings. Felicity’s insecurities are pushing her away, and Oliver’s insecurities are driving him to hold on all the more tightly. This is amazingly well done. Because even though this talk is raw with emotion and real, we the audience recognize that there is fear mixed with love going on underneath the surface.
