Reflective practise Harvard referencing

This weeks task was get to know Harvard referencing, we chose a subject matter within the design world which i chose printing techniques and began our research, the first place i headed was the library and picked up a couple of book’s browsing the index for important information i could use, after taking the books out i used sticky notes to mark the pages i would later scan and print, and began to use the college intranet system and look for any documents on printing techniques and printed out the information i needed, (now comes the tricky part) after scanning all the research i had gathered we had to pick out certain key area’s and use a colour coded system to be able to quickly access the information we needed so for example red = key dates, blue = pioneers and so on, then filling out all the research into a data sheet with the research source or website, author, title and page no etc. At first it was very daunting but after having my first attempt it became a little easier, i can definitely see me using it in future and coming in handy when having to write essays and such, I think with with a little more practise it will become easier and almost a natural instinct to use this method in all my work.

Reflective practise research module

Had a class presentation yesterday and we had to dissect the anatomy of 3 pieces of design and deliver a final piece. All though i had throughly researched my 3 design’s, the final presentation wasn’t ready to show everyone even though most of the class were at the same stage i should of got some kind of time management in place and thought about the final outcome as i had all the research together but didn't have a sketch book or anything to showcase my work, so i went into the library early to pick one up and started laying my research out.

I think i also relied too much on internet use for my research instead of using primary research and going out and taking pictures and using visual examples so the next task i will get out there and start using my eyes and gathering research from my surroundings.

In future i will also set a time management plan up have more ready for the table top review and think about the final piece of how i am going to showcase my work in this case as my task was all music based i am going to do a 3 page magazine.

Plenty of time for improvement but need to start being more focused and set myself some achievable goals.
