The theory I buy is that the fatal shot that killed JFK was a Secret Service officer attempting to return fire on Oswald while hungover. It's the simplest explanation that accounts for the sketchy cover-uppy behavior of the government. It's not a popular theory bc it's not that exciting. Just sad.
Honestly that's the one I 100% believe. It explains the holes in the official narrative along with the seeds of the conspiracy thought. It's unglamorous.
Nothing makes more fertile soil for conspiracy than a cover up.

What the gold rush means to most people: Prospectors! Dusty mine cars on tracks in the wild west! Gold nuggets!
What the gold rush means to an archaeologist: Hmm, where on this 100-acre plot of land covered in contaminated mine tailings do I think these clowns might have buried barrels full of literal cyanide?
How dare you leave this nugget hiding in the notes!
Why were they burying barrels of cyanide? How and why would you even compile enough cyanide to fill multiple barrels???
My friend let me introduce you to the terrifying process of cyanidation, wherein finely crushed ore containing traces of gold is made into a slurry by adding water, then transferred into vats known as “slime separators,” where potassium cyanide is then added to leach the gold into a liquid. Slaked lime is used to prevent the cyanide from going into full Murder Mode as hydrogen cyanide. The gold is then separated from the cyanide through one of a series of processes that I’m not really qualified to explain, but I think there are a few websites that talk about them if you want to google them.
But the key point here: from what I can tell, cyanide has been the main method of getting gold out of the ground for the last 120 years. (Yes, this process is still used today.) Before this technology came along, instead a thin coating of mercury was spread onto a copper plate, and the ore was allowed to wash over it. The gold stuck to the mercury, creating an amalgam, and then the amalgam was scraped off the plate and the mercury was boiled off (urk) to leave the gold behind.
And when processing mills shut down historically, why bother to dispose of your leftover deadly chemicals properly, when you can just bury them in your local tailings pile, which is already contaminated with mercury and arsenic? The known case of this happening in my local area was revealed through a bloom of “Prussian Blue” (ferro cyanide) on the surface of the tailings. Luckily, this is a fairly stable form of cyanide. Unluckily, geologists are crazier than archaeologists and they went ahead and dug a sample test unit right next to it, even knowing what it was, because science.
When I said to myself, “I’ll be an industrial archaeologist. It’ll be cool,” I did not foresee the terrifying knowledge it would unleash upon me.
I’m from Goldrush Country and I didn’t know this. All the gold-mining-related historical attractions around here are about good old-fashioned panning and pick-axes. Now I’m incredibly glad I’ve never had any urge to go explore the suspiciously colorful hills left in the wake of various mining operations.
Eek! Please don’t play in tailings piles and outflows folks, they are Bad News. “Oh but it’s lovely sand we want to take our ATVs out on it and let our kids build sandcastles” NO. DO NOT.
Reblogging because some desert-dwellers might not know this. Yes, those pretty hills are probably within ATV driving distance of Amargosa, Ocotillo, Buttercup, Superstition or whatever other recreational area you might be camped out at, but rainbow-colored dirt is usually rainbow-colored for toxic reasons!
Absolutely! And bear in mind too, not all tailings are brightly coloured - the ones in my area are just light grey. “Sand in spots where sand isn’t common” is sometimes the only warning sign.
I’m reviving this post because I’m doing up a Health & Safety protocol for digging near a mining site and folks. I did the math based on some recent soil tests. The tailings near my test site contain enough arsenic that ½ teaspoon of soil (tailings) easily contains a fatal dose of arsenic for an adult. Please stay safe and wash your hands thoroughly before eating/drinking/smoking if you aren’t 100% certain what the dirt is like where you’re digging.
And this is why we found a whole quart of mercury in my grandparent’s basement! Old timey prospectors would really just do shit.

unfortunately I’m watching supernatural and someone on screen said ‘there are No Wolves in pennsylvania’ and I was like. what a bold incorrect statement. where did they possibly get that idea from. so I googled it…google is insisting there are no wild wolves in pa?? except I’ve Seen wolves here?? there used to be a wolf that would hang out in my backyard and roam around the neighborhood?? like Everyone knew about this wolf we assumed he lived on the golf course and would come to our yards if he got spooked by golfers (very quiet block). like we all thought he just lost his pack or whatever so people just gave him a wide space and let him chill, he didn’t try to break into any houses or attack any pets but this was definitely. a wild wolf. where. where did he come from what do you MEAN there aren’t wolves in pennsylvania I’m literally spiraling right now
still feeling so gut-punched over this
To be fair, PA also said “we did not reintroduce mountain lions, they are not there, you’re seeing really big house cats, please keep coming to the parks and camp sites and ignore that video, that was totally not a mountain lion, someone took last week”
okay I’m sorry but this came up on pinterest and I Screamed
you are the state of Pennsylvania (allegedly)
i just showed this to a friend from pennsylvania and 1. theyre losing their mind bc theyve seen mountain lions which prompted them to look it up which leads me to 2. this fucking bonkers article
[caption: “We’ve been here 45 years and I’ve probably been told by people at least 100 t imes that they’ve seen a cougar or mountain lion,” said owner Vince Hall. “I kind of doubt they saw a cougar, but I’m not God.”]
PA: I can’t believe we’ve lost all our native apex predators Citizens of PA: there’s a mountain lion right there PA: sometimes we can still hear the sound of them scaring away tourists
…PA has fucking EMUS and you want me to believe we have no wolves or mountain lions?
what the fuck do you mean we have emus
http://emusontheridge.com/ https://www.abc27.com/news/us-world/strange/update-runaway-perry-county-emu-found-after-seven-months-on-the-run/
Rescuers still don't know what the animal is... and now it's on the loose.
what the fuck is happening in pennsylvania
As a regretful born and raised Pennsylvanian, we have wolves, coywolves, mountain lions, lynx, and coyotes. Not a single person in authority will admit to there being anything but coyotes and lynx. If you see a cougar, they will tell you you saw a lynx. If you see a wolf, they will tell you you saw a coyote. Ignore the massive differences in sizes. No one knows what a coywolf is but we have them. I have seen a cougar with my own two goddamned eyes. There is an entire nature park whose main attractions are the cougars and wolves (and bison but we’re not talking about them) - it’s called Penn’s Cave, it’s been there forever. Everyone I know has seen a cougar or wolf at least once in the woods.
So what I’m getting at is don’t trust the government.
They literally even taught us in school about how all the wolves in Pennsylvania had been killed and that’s why we had such a deer problem.
Not kidding.
People love to talk about whether or not disabled people can work
but if you can work just fine and your disability is destroying your ability to have a life outside of work (because work takes all your energy and more)
Dead silence. Nobody cares.
File this under, oh you can be active for 4 hours? You can work part-time. Um no, I have to get ready for work (30 min) get to work (15 min) get home from work (15 min) feed myself all day (30 min) maintain myself, my home and my life (15 min, yeah right), which leaves 15 min for work and absolutely nothing else.
This is so accurate, back after I’d relapsed I wanted to try and go in for one class at school so I could still stay in contact with the education system. I let slip during a meeting that I managed to drag myself to that I could manage about 4 hours of activity a week, which the teacher sprang on to mean I was being lazy for just trying to get to 1 hour class. Never matter that it was 30 minutes travel, that I would have to get washed and dressed, that I would probably still need to recover for 3 days from it.
Far too often abled people see the things they do easily as “non activities”, they don’t realise that for many disabled people these things have to be carefully planned and measured, and sometimes they simply can’t be done.
reblog bc the non activities thing seems really important words
I get X number of pain-free steps per day right now, which means that, for large conventions (like SDCC), I need to be in a mobility device. I had someone ask if I used up my steps every day before transferring to the scooter, and look surprised and a little horrified when I said “no, I save them so I can go to the bathroom unassisted.” Like, they had never considered that walking is involved in peeing.
Reblogging for the important point that the term “activity” may mean something very different and much broader for a disabled person with a chronic pain or fatigue related condition compared to its meaning for a non disabled person. If you’re tired enough, simply sitting up in a chair rather than lying in bed is an activity that drains energy otherwise usable for other things. A thing I knew from other people with pain and fatigue related conditions, but worth reinforcing for followers who didnt know or had forgotten.
How do any of you earn things?
We don’t, it’s almost like disability puts us at risk of poverty or something.

”I’m locked in the building, help!”
”Eh, at least you’ll be at work tomorrow super early!”
The part that kills me is that they're like "am I being overly dramatic for not wanting to be stuck inside work all night?" 😳 Poor kid.
@ people who were not born in Ireland and particularly Americans
- It is not Patty’s Day, it is Paddy’s Day. Patty is short for Patricia, Paddy is short for Pádraig which has been anglicised to Patrick. - It is not Gaelic, it is Irish. In Irish, the language is called Gaelige but that’s pronounced Gwayl-geh. - Literally no one in Ireland has ever eaten corned beef and cabbage - We have also never said top of the morning - If you pinch an Irish person for not wearing green on Paddy’s Day they’re likely to slap you. - Why do you dye your drinks green? - It is not “North Ireland” it is “Northern Ireland”. It is not “South Ireland” it is “The Republic of Ireland” or just “Ireland”. - No, I do not know the Dohertys of Mayo. - Please, if you must, do things for the craic and not the crack. Cocaine is not a great habit lads. - Drinks like the “Irish car bomb” and the “black & tan” are incredibly offensive (you wouldn’t drink a “9/11”)
However
- Wearing green is grand - Having a few drinks is also grand, they don’t even need to be Irish (I drink a Swedish cider most of the time) - Aye sure queue up some Irish music on youtube it’s great. - If you want one Irish word to use throughout the day a good one is Sláinte (pronounced slawn-sha) - it’s the equivalent of saying “cheers” before you drink!
All very important
Corned beef and Cabbage is a meal of Irish-American immigrants, because they were pushed into the ghettos of the unwanted, next to Jewish immigrants, and would get their meat from their Jewish neighbor butchers.
Today (17 March, 2022; 14 Adar, 5782):is also Jewish Holiday of Purim (until sunset). It’s a holiday dedicated to G-d’s intervention to prevent a Jewish genocide, and is celebrated with the mocking of dictators, wearing silly costumes, and getting drunk.
[Full disclosure: I am neither Jewish, nor Irish, nor an Immigrant. I’m just frustrated that the only Jewish holiday most people know about is Hanukkah. And I’m a fan of all the holidays. Especially if silliness is involved]

Just saw The Batman. My thoughts on the movie.
The unintentional comedy of just everyone giving off the vibe that they Do Not want Batman around. Doesn't even matter if it's Bruce or Batman. Absolutely no one wants him there.
My vibe for most Batman content is Batman is like "I am the night. No one understands me." While all his Justice League friends are like "Ahah yeah that's our emo friend we love him :)". Not this movie. This movie Batman is like "I am the night. No one understands me." and everyone else is like "Ah, fucking Christ lads that creepy batsuit man is here again. Gordon did you leave the window open."
I mean it just. The palpable TENSION of NO ONE wanting Batman to be there. The physical pressure of R Pat Batman being so fucking off-putting that YOU don't want him there.
I should emphasize this is the most enjoyable part of the movie.
Absolute fucking wet meow meow of a man. It's not even in that "argh i am a crestfallen god, lamenting my fate!" superhero way I MEAN he's pathetic.
I mean you're both waiting at the bus stop outside a 7-11 and this dude is getting pelted with rain for fifteen minutes even though he could be standing under the bus shelter and the bus finally shows up and he takes out his bus pass to get on and the bus pass blows away in the breeze and he stands there in the rain for a few more seconds before turning around and going back inside the 7-11 without a word I mean THAT kind of pathetic.
I should also emphasize I don't think any of this was intentional. I think the writer just WROTE Batman like this going "he's cool and misunderstood, like me" while Writer Man is unaware that he himself is the pathetic bus pass man.
I haven't said anything about the movie yet.
I've decided to have thoughts on the movie (spoilers)
It's raining in every scene. Every single scene just torrential downpour unceasing deluge of rain all the time all the time. This is the real reason Gotham is under water at the end.
R Pat is damp the whole time. R Pat smells moldy.
Fuck I said I'd talk about the movie.
Also the unintentional hilarity of the heterosexual(?) romance(?) plot between Batman and Catwoman. Catwoman was like "hi I'm every Femme Fatale trope wrapped up in a catsuit" and Batman stood there like a PS2 NPC the whole time. He went home after to write in his diary "A woman touched me today. She terrified me. I am a broken man, incapable of love. Also saw a snail today. Effer"
Fuck I said I'd talk about the movie and not R Pat.
Anyway the last 30 minutes were stupid. My theory is they wrote the whole script, realized they accidentally made the Riddler into a sick-ass awesome hero who was right and said "oh shit he was supposed to be the bad guy. uh what if he just decided to flood Gotham for no reason? Jan 6!!!!"
I'm ignoring the last 30 minutes. The plot ended with the Falcone thing. Riddler did nothing wrong and I'm shaking his hand right now.
The unintentional comedy of all the attempts at emotional scenes being just slightly weird and sticky on account of R Pat Batman OKAY OKAY BACK TO THE MOVIE
R Pat Batman has 1 (one) friend and literally everyone else in the movie hates that guy for hanging out with R Pat Batman
OKAY
THE MOVIE
All the mafia and government guys getting done in by the Riddler was great. Entertaining. Taking out the garbage.
The unintentional comedy of the police puzzling through the riddles while R Pat Batman mutters the answers in the background in a way that's probably SUPPOSED to be cool and aloof and genius but gives off the opposite vibe due to everyone else hating that Batman is there
The scene in Arkham with the Riddler repeating "Bruce Wayne" was good
The Riddler having 500 followers (impressive)
Made funnier after earlier news segments about his videos getting millions of views. Riddler's got a bot farm watching his videos.
What is???? Batman's motivation through all of this??? He does everything with SUCH reckless urgency but as far as I can tell he has like zero skin in the game he's just DOING this.
The car chase scene was silly.
Batman why did you allow like a hundred car crashes to happen chasing that guy up the road what was the POINT. To catch a clue to catch the Riddler? Why do you CARE?
Why was this movie 3 hours long
I'll probably watch anything Robert Pattinson is in, actually
Effervescent
Oh I should clarify what I mean when I say "I don't think Batman is intentionally like this."
I feel in my soul that if I just read the script alone, Batman would come off as an edgy anime character. Loner, no one likes him, dark past, depressed and tortured, genius, kicks people's asses.
I ABSOLUTELY think Robert Pattinson saw this and went "Oh, I'm just gonna play him as a fucking pathetic weirdo"
The end result feels like a movie which, in framing and in spirit, wanted to prop Batman up as an edgy, cool, tortured, hated loner vs a lead actor who gets into character by saying "you too" to the barista telling him to enjoy his coffee.
What happened in the middle of all this???? I don't know. Did all the writers and the director hate R Pat with a passion and just have no power to stop him from playing Batman as a Hover-Hand Wonder? Did R Pat show up to auditions 15 minutes late and soaking wet because he fell down a sewer grate on the way over and the director said "yes, actually! THIS is The Batman we need!" Did maybe no one notice what R Pat was doing until they cut the whole movie together and went "oh my god he's indistinguishable from a dog who got left outside in the rain"
All of these are questions I do not know the answer to. I take solace in the fact that I'll never know because R Pat lies constantly in every interview and will never be a trusted source of information on anything.
Considering that Rhys explicitly used a continuation of Mor’s abuse and a destruction of her safe space without her permission for a political purpose, I’m not fucking surprised that she hasn’t come out to him. She probably can’t trust him not to trade the information to her abusers, just like he did with her love of Velaris (which, btw, included the only place she could be in community with other queer women, Rita’s). Because remember: it wasn’t that Keir wanted access to Velaris, or that he wanted to ally with Eris - or at least, that wouldn’t have been enough. He wanted Mor to suffer. That was why he agreed to Rhys’s deal. And Rhys knew that perfectly well.
And this is all canon.
@birdiethebibliophile Listen, the bit that rankles me the most about all of this (and it ALL rankles me aggressively) is the fact that….Mor literally runs Velaris. In fact, Mor literally runs Velaris and the Court of Nightmares. Can you IMAGINE the shit-storm that would have been kicked up if Rhys had usurped control of Cassian’s Illyrians and made them undermine/turn on him? Or if he’d had some of Az’s spies spy on him behind his back? Can you imagine? Because that is literally what he did to Mor and nobody gives a fuck. The amount of power he strips from her in that scene is honestly sickening. And this is why I refuse point blank to acknowledge any idea of Rhys being ‘feminist’ because he puts women in positions of power in his court…because he really doesn’t. He gives them the illusion of power, but it ultimately remains his. Mor, who he describes as queen, says no REPEATEDLY on subjects that should be entirely under her authority…and not a single person in that room (90% of them male) listens to her. it’s gross as shit and I will whine abt it at every opportunity i get I APOLOGISE, PLEASE CONTINUE ON YOUR DAY.
YOU ARE EXACTLY RIGHT. And then he basically tells her she should thank her fucking abusers for their help.
And the next day she’s cheery and says that don’t worry, she knows he did the right thing, like he didn’t just strip all her power away and undermine not only her queenhood but her very personhood.
Fuck him, and fuck the narrative that says that this is good. Good that she got over it. I don’t care that “they had a conversation”. We didn’t see it. That’s a massive cop-out. After everything that happened, I can only imagine Rhys playing the victim and bringing up Amarantha and basically guilting Mor into agreeing to what he put her through.
Queen? Don’t make me laugh.
No, especially because i’m pretty sure, from what I remember (i’m NOT trawling through this book again, i love myself too much) their ‘conversation’ was basically Rhys just going ‘look, I was thinking of you, okay, I had no choice! I did the best i could!! look how much i went behind your back and organised behind you, and i’m really a good person pls forgive me’ as opposed to like…getting down on his fucking knees and grovelling for her forgiveness as he should have done.
I’m sure i saw something call Mor out on using Amarantha against Rhys, and defend his reaction (straight up lying to her and effectively telling her she was selfish for DARING to be traumatised) and I just…Can we not?
Also, while we’re resenting things about this, I resent him elevating Az above her as well? Az is informed of this. Az is a part of this. Az gets to know about these things, and make these decisions, and keep her in the dark because Rhys allows it. and this bothers me because Rhys can ‘I don’t enforce rank in my court’ all he likes, but Mor is his fucking third in command. When it comes to court matters and court politics she has seniority over Az. But Az is a dude and he’s agreeing with Rhys so what does that matter?
We didn’t even get to see the conversation. We were just told “they talked.” That is IT. But I’m 100% sure it did not involve Rhys groveling.
please. please can we not.
Couple things. First is that oh right, she’s third in command, I keep forgetting she is and Amren is second. Because we never. see that in action. We just get told it’s a thing to make Rhys seem Super Feminist. Also, Rhys doesn’t tell Mor because he’s afraid she’d be upset or try to stop it??? LIKE HOW DARE HE??? MAKE THIS DECISION FOR HER??? AND AZ AS WELL???
God I’m so mad.
Exactly. And like…I’m sorry but that’s not fucking good enough. Even with Feyre affirming her and informing her it’s okay if she’s not okay with this (u were awfully quiet about this in the moment, Feyre. When Mor could have used an ally, you know? That moment. And ugh, I don’t want to blame Feyre bc she was as blindsided by this as anyone else (what a lovely, mutual, equal power balance the high lord and lady have :’) Tbh Feyre is almost as much a trophy in the night court as she is in the spring court. for all the actual power and influence she has. but she gets given the title of high lady so it’s all good)
It’s like the high lady thing? It’s just a title. it’s empty. it’s like poorly designed female armour. it’s got a lovely aesthetic, and makes everyone oooh and ahhh bc oh look how progressive warrior ladies!!! but in practice it’s useless and there only for decoration and to give the men something to congratulate themselves over/ogle. because we never actually see either of them exhibiting any real power (political or magical)
(This is another thing I’m salty about. (like while we’re at it, anyway, why tf not?) Mor is a war veteran. Mor is apparently more powerful than Az and Cassian. Mor is apparently powerful enough to survive a building-wrecking fight with Amren. Do I have any idea of what Mor can do? No. Oh, and where was Mor’s place during the battle? That’s right, she was on the side-lines with, consequently, every other woman)
And yeah, Rhys making that decision for her was…gross as shit. In any context. but PARTICULARLY in a narrative context where the female protagonist was a victim of abuse from a man who made all of her choices for her, stripped away her power, agency, and control, the damage that does to her, and the way that Rhys is glorified (wrongly) for being a decent human being and not doing that to her…but here he is doing it to Mor? This should have been her decision. In every regard. it is her city. Her seat of power. Her realm of authority. Her abusers. And she gets kept out of it because of Rhys belittling her, and treating her like a child.
And while we’re on the damn subject (listen, it’s half two in the morning, and apparently I’m pissed, I haven’t salted in weeks, it’s been building, I do apologise) Rhys (and others/narrative in general) consistently/repeatedly belittle Mor’s trauma and her responses as a survivor and I’m so not fucking here for it. Him making this decision for her because she would have stopped it and he didn’t trust her. Him essentially telling her she was selfish for being upset at having her abusers sprung on her and not liking it because it’s all apart of his grand “greater good”. Him having that gross as shit line about how she should be used to working with Keir by now because she does it all the time (ON HIS FUCKING ORDERS/FOR HIS FUCKING COURT, I MIGHT ADD) and how she gets “”””spooked”””” (i’m sorry, when did she turn into a horse, exactly?) by violent, explosive outbursts when she’s a victim of severe emotional and physical abuse. it just feels so…dismissive. so belittling. so patronising. so gross and i just…i hate this. i hate it all. Similar thing happens to Lucien and…basically anyone who has experienced some kind of trauma and isn’t Feyre or Rhys.
