Put up my Christmas tree today. Made my own tree collar out of a dollar tree hamper and garland. I am SO PLEASED with how it turned out. It’s Christmas!!!
been thinkin about how my ethics professor back in undergrad was like.
look. there’s no such thing as perfect altruism. you’ll always get something out of helping or being kind to others, whether it’s a stronger relationship or returned kindness or just the feeling of having done good. there’s nothing inherently bad about getting something from doing good either, especially since it’s completely unavoidable. people being rewarded for putting love into the world doesn’t make the world a worse place. so just do as much good as you can and don’t worry about being “selfless” while doing it, because being truly selfless is in fact impossible.
and like man did that take the pressure off of Being A Good Person!! you’re allowed to enjoy helping people! you’re allowed to be kind without worrying that you’re maybe secretly just doing it for yourself!! it’s okay if you are doing it for yourself because you’re still being kind to others!!!!!
if it makes you happy to help people then actually you are helping two people
“I wanna do this with you “ a love language
i’m like “i don’t give a fuck” & then have an anxiety attack
my spicy take of the day is generic medication brands shouldnt exist. the name brand medications should be price capped every single time. I don’t care.
these name brand medications are not always identical to the generic and many of those inactive ingredients only present in name brand make a huge difference.
we shouldnt have to create a shittier version of a medication that works. the medication that works should be the one readily availible to everyone. pretending generics are just as good /every time/ ignores that this practice shouldnt fucking exist in the first place.
for a few examples:
i am allergic to the offbrand benadryls, i dont know why or how but i am, yet they are less than 1/3rd of the price which puts me in a terrible position.
many generic insulins end up killing people because they are not made the same as brands people get used to and this isnt readily apparent when they turn to the cheaper brands in a pinch.
these cheaper and worse quality medications are a tier of waste that should not exist. poor people should not be subject to worse healthcare and these companies do not need more money.
medicine shouldnt be a capitalist endeavor at all im sick of everyone pretending this is an acceptable practice.
if you think it’s fair that capitalists price poor people out of the ability to get good quality medications so capitalists can make more money i dont think you have disabled people like me in your best interest.
generic brands create a false sense of security that pretends everyone is getting the same care when they actually arent getting the same care.
these name brands should instead be forced down to a reasonable price and covered by a true healthcare system.
i dont think corporations should have a right to medications formulas. i dont care if they go bankrupt. i think the formulas should be openly listed and with ingredients that are exact and covered in full by healthcare and not have their prices inflated for a guarded formula no one else can 100% reproduce here in the usa. im sick of it.
i think peoples lives are more important than rights to the recipe of a life saving medication
i literally do not care. if you went into the field of saving lives as if it was a business for you to profit i have no sympathy for you.
People's lives are more important than the rights to the recipe of a life-saving medication
To all restaurants: you need an online presence OTHER THAN Facebook. Like, something people can access without any account or login at all.
Also, that online presence should just show your menu. Not a PDF download, simply your menu, directly, no need to start an online ordering process.
I remain amazed how many ways, in 2022, places can fuck this up.
and the menu should include prices!!!
and the menu should include the fucking prices!
I took two adderall and cleaned my entire apartment. It looks so good in here. I am so pleased.
One of the most badass lines in cinematic history that feels like it should belong in a John Wick movie is from The Princess Diaries 2
It seems you really miss pangea
i do. think of the trains we could have. you could go on a road trip to everywhere. they (plate tectonics) took so much from us.
"Quiet quitting"—an allegedly new trend characterized by workers performing only their required job duties and no more—has been getting a lot of attention in recent weeks, but the defining trend of the past 40 years of U.S. economic history is "quiet fleecing," and we should be talking much more abo...
“The reality is workers have long been going ‘above and beyond’ and not getting paid for it.”
That’s the argument put forth Friday by the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), a progressive think tank with a long track record of popularizing research on wage suppression and runaway inequality.
“Everyone’s obsessed with a post-pandemic phenomenon called ‘quiet quitting,’” EPI wrote in an email. “It’s basically defined as workers just doing the basic requirements of their jobs and not going ‘above and beyond.’”
“But the reality is workers have long been going ‘above and beyond’ and not getting paid for it,” EPI continued. “We’re calling this phenomenon ‘quiet fleecing.’”

I need people to stop blaming the death of movies on “quips”. A quip is just a funny line of dialogue. That’s all. Like I just saw a post talking about quips and the death of movies and brought up Pirates of the Caribbean as an example of a better movie and yes it is but also that movie is FULL OF QUIPS. I just rewatched The Princess Bride. It’s all quips. Every single line. And it’s a masterpiece.
Movies suck when people don’t care about the art they’re making. That includes them not caring about their quips. Which is why a lot of comic relief dialogue ALSO sucks now. But the problem isn’t that funny dialogue exists.
#it’s not the quips it’s the complete and utter fear of showing any kind of sincerity#honestly it’s almost the equivalent of saying ‘no homo’ after a moment of being genuine
The Princess Bride is almost all quips, but it’s all sincerity. Every aspect of the plot is ridiculous and yet no movie dialogue has ever gone as hard as “I want my father back, you son of a bitch”
But y’all not ready for THAT conversation
