Logical Fallacies in Trans Activism

No true Scotsman - “Trans women aren’t violent! Those trans women who committed violent crimes aren’t real trans women!”

Ad hominem - [completely ignores other person’s argument] “Go fix your eyebrows, you’re so ugly! You’re a bigoted idiotic bitch!”

Ad nauseam - “Trans women are women. Trans women are women. Trans women are women. Trans women are women.”

Circular argument - “A woman is anyone that identifies as a woman.”

Ad misericordiam - “Don’t you care about those innocent trans kids that are being murdered in the street? Don’t you care about the trans women that are being violently raped every day? Trans people are being killed, there is a trans genocide happening!”

Strawman: “I’ve never actually looked at a radical feminist blog, but I’m going to make posts about how they’re all violent misogynistic and racist bigots who believe that women belong in the kitchen!” 

Moral equivalence - “If you misgender a trans person, even by accident, you are as evil as Nazis and you are responsible for the deaths of trans people!” 

Ad baculum - “If you don’t completely and blindly support trans people, then you’re a TERF and we beat up TERFs.”

Hey! I’m an election worker! If you ever have an issue like this please tell the people who are working at the polls! I don’t know about other states, as ours got new machines two years ago and we have some of the newest polling machines in the country, but I’m sure that your local polling place will do something about a machine like this.

If you don’t trust the machines to allow you to vote for who you want, you ALWAYS have the right to ask for a paper ballot. If they refuse, get that shit on video and blast them on social media. Election offices HATE having people complain about them on social media. Be sure to specifically get them denying you a paper ballot. PAPER BALLOTS ARE NOT INVALID BALLOTS AND WILL BE COUNTED.

Know your rights, be nice to election workers, be sure to register to vote, and actually get out there and vote!

(Also, if you are willing and able, you should sign up to be an election worker. In the US there is a serious problem with most election workers being Republicans. Most election offices try to have a balance between Democrats, Republicans and Independent, but that’s kind of hard when Republicans are the only ones who sign up. It pays pretty well, and its wayyyy less difficult than most retail jobs. You also can learn so much.)

So, can you just skip the machine entirely and ask for a paper ballot?

The thing is, once in the booth they say ur not allowed to record your vote, so this video isn’t illegal or at least working against the person experiencing the glitch?

And if the machine glitches and incorrectly submits a vote for the wrong person, then what? Because when people complained about that in 2016, it was like there was absolutely nothing thay could be done.

You can ask for a paper ballot. You cannot record or take photos inside the voting booth, that is illegal. However, if you ask for a paper ballot and they try to tell you to use a machine record the people who are telling you that you have to use a machine. Ask for their name and supervising judge. Talk to the supervising judge if you are able, and if they do not help you and also tell you to use a machine make sure to get their name as well. Look up your local election office and tell them about your expierence. (Its usually your county and election office.)

If you’re using a machine and it does this, call over for the election workers to help. When you are struggling with a machine, be it the machine is broken or you are confused about something, election workers will come over to help. There should be two workers to help you, this ensures that a single election worker can’t cast an incorrect vote on your behalf. They should also notify the Supervising Judge, who should take the machine out of commission.

Most of the country is switching over to the newer machines, the new ones are both digital and have a paper ballot. However, they are expensive so it’s going to take a while until they are everywhere. Until then, messed up machines are a reality we have to face. If the machine glitches and submits your vote with the wrong person I’m honestly not sure what can be done about it. But, if it happens the way it does in the video above, you can, and should, ask to do a paper ballot and bring it to the workers attention.

i really do think that we, as a whole, are becoming more and more disconnected from our bodies.

go under the knife and reveal your new self, molded into the vision in your mind’s eye for only thousands of dollars and an ultimately unimportant risk to health and life.

adopt a strict new diet. obsess over an idealized form of yourself. shift the goalposts of what “perfect” looks like so the chase is never complete. hate every natural function of your body. devote all your time, money, and energy to an idea.

stare at your breasts and hate them. hate them so completely that you decide that you need new ones, or to get them removed so you never have to look at them again. never try to come to terms with how they look—that’s settling, that’s giving up, that will never lead to happiness. stare at your genitalia. hate it. daydream about something that would look better, feel better, be less objectified, be more acceptable, be more featureless, look more male, look more female, look different.

your body is not you; it’s just a vessel. and it’s your right to customize your vessel with anything that you want—whether it’s drugs, surgery, injections, or extreme diet restriction, it’s not you. you’re not doing it to yourself. you’re doing it to the flesh that formed around the real you. so how can that be wrong? 

how can your idea of what your body should be, in complete contrast to what it is, be wrong? how could it ever be influenced by a complex combination of factors when it’s not even you, when it’s barely even connected to you?

how could dysmorphia, dysphoria, body image issues, or a desire for extensive cosmetic surgeries be misguided when you can neatly separate the mind from the body?

Also notice that very few have made callout posts about this pedophile activist who’s still active in the long island trans community. But multiple callout posts for the women/transmen who brought it to light.

Why would transwomen make more of a fuss about women calling out a rapist than the actual rapist?

Why would there be multiple trans groups praising that rapist who stopped a woman from speaking about rape?

Why are there transwomen on here making multiple posts about how it’s wrong to notice patterns and trust your gut?

i read so many fantastic articles abt mad and evil and difficult women this semester. i love that men were terrified we’d defy our natural motherly instincts and take revenge and consume rather than absorb - men just assumed they were the victims of these hysterical women, that they were the heroes. they needed a scapegoat for their own impotency and inconsequence (women caused the wars, the industrialization, the poverty, etc.)

but now we can look back at all those mythologized monster women and change the narrative. who cares what dead men wrote about medea, medusa, delilah, lilith, salome? there’s a justice in their rage and violence that women instinctively identify and connect with, and they’re our stories now. when you see a woman holding the decapitated head of some man and think “yeah” you’re tapping into centuries of righteous female fury. stay angry, stay connected.
