2016 Hotel Information

If you are planning on attending Web Design Day 2016 and are traveling from outside of Pittsburgh - we want to stress that you should book your hotel as early as possible for the best rates. There is a Pirates-Dodgers baseball series happening at the same time right down the street from Web Design Day.

We’ve negotiated a group rate of $269/night at the Hyatt Place North Shore for Web Design Day attendees. Book your room by phone and tell them you’re with the Web Design Day group.

Other hotel options, some of which at the time of writing still include options that are cheaper than the group rate above include:

The Holiday Inn Express North Shore, The Priory, The Springhill Suites, Residence Inn Pittsburgh North Shore and are also on the North Shore. All three of these hotels are about a 15 minute walk from the main venue.

Most downtown hotels are also within a 30 minute walk from the venue. Hotel shuttles, Uber, Lyft, buses, and cabs are also easy options from downtown. Our favourite downtown hotels include: The Hotel Monaco, Omni William Penn and Fairmont Pittsburgh.

AIRBNB

If Airbnb is more your style there are a number of full apartments and private rooms listed there. Look for places listed as Downtown or North Shore/North Side if you plan to walk to the venue. If you’re bringing a car check out Lower Lawrenceville too. It’s our favourite neighborhood in town. (We live there!)

If you are planning on attending Web Design Day 2015 and are travelling from outside of Pittsburgh - we want to stress that you should book your hotel as early as possible.

The week of June 12th/13th is a very busy week for Pittsburgh. Along with Web Design Day there are a ton of other events going on around town.

Other event around town include 3 Rivers Arts Festival, the CREate Festival, Pittsburgh PRIDEfest, and the very popular Pittsburgh Pirates/Philadelphia Phillies series from 11/12-11/14!

HOTEL INFORMATION

The Springhill Suites, Residence Inn Pittsburgh North Shore and The Priory are also on the North Shore. All three of these hotels are about a 15 minute walk from the main venue.

We'll update with more information as we get it. But we can't stress enough that you should book your hotels as soon as possible. It's going to be a very fun time in Pittsburgh from June 12-13th!

And 2015 begins!

The rush to Web Design Day 2015 starts tomorrow: Monday, January 19th.

There has already been a ton of planning, but tomorrow we announce our main lineup of speakers. This is usually the "big" announcement that gets people excited and let's them know what we have planned for the year. Once this gets out, there is no going back. Full speed ahead to Web Design Day 2015.

We are very happy with the main lineup for 2015, and we think that our attendees will be too. We're both really proud to be able to bring such a lineup to Pittsburgh. Keep an eye on our website tomorrow around 1pm EST.

We'll also be releasing a limited number of Early-Bird tickets this Wednesday. These will be at a heavily discounted price. The early-bird will allow a person to be fully registered for our full-day conference. Only 100 will be available and they will go on sale this Wednesday, January 21st.

We've also opening a "Call for Speakers" for our popular Lightning Talks. If you are interested, please see our Submission Form and take a look at the requirements.

Those will be all the announcements for tomorrow. Full speaker lineup (10 Speakers) along with 2 Pre-Conference, Full Day Workshops will be announce on February 16th. We'll also be releasing the rest of the conference registrations and registrations for the workshops on this day too.

The Next Web Design Day!

We're happy to announce that the 6th Web Design Day Conference will be on June 12th, 2015 at the New Hazlett Theater! Yes, the date is correct 2015 and a bit earlier in the year than usual!

We love running Web Design Day and love our attendees even more. However, this year has thrown us a few curve-balls and while we're doing our best to work around them it's taking away more time from conference planning than we would like. Life happens, as they say, and Web Design Day is still happening too, just a bit later than originally planned.

The 6th Web Design Day will be on June 12th, 2015 at the New Hazlett theater in Pittsburgh. Expect the same wonderful things and more. We can't wait to have you all together again!

This email is full of details you need to know about Web Design Day 2013. You have a ticket to the conference sessions on Friday October 25th. And that's what this email is all about.

If you've also registered for a workshop, or workshops, on Saturday the 26th you'll get a separate email with those details.

There's a lot in here and it's a bit long, but stick with it. All this info is important!

Schedule & Locations Conference registration opens at 8:30am on Friday October 25th and sessions will run until about 5:30. Full schedule will be posted on our site soon. All this takes place at the New Hazlett Theatre.

The official after party will be at Commonwealth Press at 2315 Wharton Street Pittsburgh, PA 15203 immediately following the conference until 10:00pm. We'll have food, cake and drinks for you to enjoy. Plus the option to print your own t-shirt and poster designed by local artists Strawberryluna and Ryan Hamrick. Come print, eat and socialize with our awesome attendees and speakers. It's so much better than a bar!

Arriving Bring your printed or digital ticket for us to scan at the registration desk. Getting in is as easy as that! Arrive a little early so you'll have time to enjoy some light breakfast and the espresso bar thanks to our morning coffee sponsor, Celerity.

Lunch Yum, lunch! This year lunch will include sandwiches, tasty treats and even a little entertainment. If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know by responding to this email before October 18th. We can't fulfill special requests made after that date, sorry.

Parking The New Hazlett is located in Allegheny Square and like many historic venues, it was not designed with cars in mind. There is metered street parking in the immediate area, but it is technically limited to 2 hours.

There are a few garages and lots within a 10-15 minute walk of the venue. We've put together a map of the venues and parking options for you here.

The North Shore T stop is also about a 15 min walk away. So, parking downtown or taking transit are also options. If you are staying at the Hyatt Place Hotel you can book the hotel shuttle for your ride to the venue.

Bike racks are located at the side of the theatre for anyone planning to arrive on less than four wheels.

For our party venue, there is plenty of street parking surrounding the Commonwealth Press warehouse and most of it is free. As a last resort, if you can't find anything on the street, the South Side Works has multiple parking garages about a 15 min walk away.

Internets There will be wireless access available at the theatre this year, yay! The theatre has a whole new internet set up which should be all set to meet our tweeting and instagramming needs.

Please still tell work you're taking the day off though. Our lineup of speakers and all the other attendees are much cooler than anything in your inbox, promise!

Posters, T-shirts and more! This year both Aaron Draplin and the United Pixelworkers crew will have merch available for you to purchase during the event. Come prepared to do a little shopping and pick up a new t-shirt or poster if your walls or wardrobe are in need!

Saturday Photowalk Before you leave on Saturday, meet up with some local designers for a downtown photowalk! Meet Dane at the Warhol Bridge at 10am on Saturday morning for a guided tour of some of the best photo ops in downtown Pittsburgh. We'll have more details on this closer to the event, but we wanted you to know it's happening!
