the view from the friiway
The episode fades directly from Salamander to Two and the difference between these two is incredible.
while i would have loved to have seen din give a long emotional speech to grogu after he woke up and heard din tell grogu how proud he was of him for saving his life... i also know that din could barely choke out the words that he did because he was so emotional in that moment and he's more likely to show his pride in grogu's actions in other ways... such as allowing grogu to press the button in that put the razor crest into hyperspace. plus, i'm sure that the next time grogu was eating cookies, din didn't try and stop him from gobbling up the lot!
(on a personal level i'm glad din didn't give such a speech because i had already given myself a headache from crying at that point and i had no tissues left...)
awww the like button turns into a rainbow when you press it! that's so cute...hey staff what's with all the trans women you keep nuking?
i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
would be remiss not to mention that the rainbow notably straight up just removed the trans flag colors from it. like they’re gone. it’s the progress flag minus the trans flag colors.
that’s not the whole flag, now is it
hey staff what the fuck
hey staff don't you think you're being too on-the-nose
HEY STAFF DONT YOU THINK YOU'RE BEING TOO ON-THE-NOSE
when the characters never really make peace with it

This is a remaster of an old Vap Comic! Now in AMAZING TECHNICOLOR 🖌️🎨
I know, I know, I need to get the shot.
Grogu was like “dad? DAD!?”

i really love how much emphasis the mandalorian and grogu placed upon how kind din djarin is.
is he an incredible fighter? yes... it was cool to see him kicking ass on the big screen.
but more than that, i really appreciated his interactions with the anzellans how empathetic he was to rotta and of course how patient and loving he was with grogu. i loved how it was highlighted that din is actually kind of averse to violence, and mostly views it as a last resort that should only be turned to when talking doesn't work. that is one of the things i adore most about his character.
he's a walking beskar-played contradiction. he appears like a terrifying mandalorian warrior to the rest of the galaxy, but underneath that steel is a heart of gold. that part of him means so much to me, and i'm so glad it was present as he took the leap to the big screen!
I’ve been avoiding the movie theater and haven’t seen the movie yet, but this post makes me really want to make an exception. Duality is one of my favorite qualities in Din - equally capable of kindness as brutality. I love to hear the movie is highlighting those positive aspects of his personality.

Also Din:
I also think it’s worth noting that S1E1 the bounty begs for freedom and din refuses. By season 3, he’s starting to realize that not every bounty is a criminal running from the law, some are escaping abusive or constricting lives where they have no freedom (thinking of the prince that ran away so he could marry against his parents wishes) and now we have the movie where as soon as Rotta started talking about the horrible abuse he suffered and how much he wanted to distance himself from his father and make a name for himself, din got to put this compassion and empathy to use.
I love the era of Classic Who with Jamie and the Second Doctor because to everyone they encounter it seems like Jamie is the reasonable level headed one with his dry wit and his exasperation at Two’s inability to drive, compared to Two’s silliness and clumsy fumbling of switches and artifacts. But then something happens and they just see Jamie go absolutely berserk. Everything will be chill and then it’s like
Someone: “You all are now my prisoners. But I’m a reasonable man, so if you all just cooperate I may-“
Jamie, charging: [McCrimmon War Cry]
Not attracted to that character i just want him to experience being scared for his life and panicking
Listened to Big Finish’s The Church and the Crown on my flight home, and had some thoughts!!
• Immediately had to bring up, Peri’s relationship with the TARDIS is so strong Five immediately assumes Peri conspired with the TARDIS so the TARDIS would do what Peri wanted instead of the Doctor!! :) I love The Tardis and Peri’s friendship always.
• There’s a moment in which Five and Peri are trying to escape pursuers and come across a horse, Peri is seemingly struggling to keep up and then the Doctor calls: “Up you get,” before grunting and then proceeding to tell Peri to hold onto him. So I can only assume Five bodily picked up Peri and lifted her into the horse and the image is so delightful in my head!
• Five caught Peri! FIVE CAUGHT PERI! (Sorry I just love how we know canonically Five is not the most touchy, so any time he’s with Peri I’m like ahh man is protecting!!!)
• Peri’s response to Five asking her to trust him even in difficult/seemingly hopeless circumstances being, “Trusting you is one of the easiest things I’ve ever did.” Has my heart. Not that I didn’t like Five’s prior TARDIS team but having Peri who seemed so appreciative always for her time with the Doctor compared to how the other TARDIS crew did will always be something on my mind.
IN THE AIRPORT AND THEIR PLAYING BILLIE PIPER!!!
They didn’t use Embo’s name once that whole movie.
In “Doctor Who in Wonderland”, Five immediately knows this Alice in Wonderland mischief going about cannot be the work of the Master, because one of the Master’s worst qualities, is they don’t read.
