Jessica Woodlee’s single “Whiskey” is this year’s official sad girl autumn anthem. The song follows Woodlee and her journey in unrequited love. The song is a vulnerable synth pop anthem that’s sure to get you in your feels. The storyline is incredibly vulnerable with a similar feel to hits like “Make You Love Me” and “Teardrops On My Guitar”. Similar to those songs, as the listener, you can’t help but root for the artist to finally get what, but most importantly who, they want. Jessica’s vocals are so natural and soothing to listen to and as she gets into the bridge of the single, it feels like she’s pouring her heart out to her audience. With the instrumentation growing in excitement and her vocals getting louder and bolder, the bridge feels like the turning point in her story. For anyone who’s loved someone who may not love them back, this one’s for you.

Cat Rian’s single “Only Miss Some Of You” makes us want to put on pink cowboy boots and lay on the ground in the rain. Her vulnerable single comes off the back of a breakup and running into your ex after. Rian details moments that remind her of this ex, sharing the good times that she misses. But she also can’t forget about the bad times, hence why she misses only some of this person, not all of them. Her lyrics paint a clear picture of how this relationship develops and eventually crumbles. There’s a sense of sympathy in her song that we feel as the listener, but don’t be confused, she knows exactly what she deserves. The song’s style is very much country songwriter with an acoustic focus, and there’s a beautiful Southern accent in her voice that swoons the listener. Bring together the country with some hip-hop beats, and you have a unique sound that will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

“Wasted” by katie MAC is THE edgy pop rock anthem for “all the dumb bitches” - her words not ours. The single has been out for a full month, and we just can’t get enough! “Wasted” is a light-hearted track that pokes fun at the never ending cycle of getting attached to a guy and ignoring those red flags. Katie fills the single with relatable remedies for getting over someone, playing on the fact that if she took a shot for each time she did something dumb in order to get over someone, she’s straight up be wasted. It’s hard not to feel like this is a pure anthem for everyone who has had relationship (or let’s be honest situationship) problems. The song is electrifying with an incredibly catchy beat and confident performance. The fuzzy electric guitar and booming bass make for a great backing track to equally confident vocals. Her vocal performance is full of personality and fun, making the song just that much easier to sing along to.

Today’s artist feature is dedicated to the talented Kenny Hayes! Kenny’s debut single “Shower You Off Me” has now been out for a year, and we can’t believe we’re just now discovering it! The single draws the question of what you do when you can’t get someone out of your mind. The metaphorical idea of showering someone off of you is something we feel everyone can relate to, especially regarding the uncertainty of a relationship. The soft rock production to the song is full of a mellow energy that eventually grows into something bold and exciting. We’re obsessing over the epic electric guitar solo by Thomas James. James’ solo provides that exciting sense of growth and progression in the song, and it just fits so well that we’re glad it was included.

Sophia Bavishi’s recent release “This Is Who We Are” is a certified pop bop! The beat of the single is something that will get in your head immediately and stay there. It’s the perfect representation of having a love-hate relationship with someone and is completely relatable to those who might be in the same situation. Her lyrics are honest with phrases like “All I want is you, but you drive me crazy I fucking hate you”, and you can’t help but scream those lyrics along with her. Vintz Desert’s single “Novacane” is a gentle breath of fresh air for the listener. The majority of the single is backed by a beautiful piano accompaniment, and grows into a bold and exciting instrumentation by the end of the single. The buildup is subtle and takes it time, but once we get to the exciting drum performance, it feels like a door’s been opened for us to embrace all the beauty in Vintz Desert’s world. Our favorite part is definitely towards the very end where it sounds like a raw, live performance when he was recording the single. Caitlin Fisher’s single “Make You Feel New” is a catchy fusion of the pop and R&B genres! Her vocal tone gives off an incredibly impressive range with an amazing performance in the lower register of her voice. Fisher utilizes her voice in a way that is personal and attentive to the emotional values she brings to the song. The instrumentation is slow paced and takes its time to evolve and grow into an exciting and expressive sound. FEVERS album “Chambord” has been released for about 3 months now, and we’re still listening to it on loop! One of the standout tracks “Lost And Found” is a majorly flirtatious performance with equally expressive and confident vocals. FEVERS talks about missing someone in her life that she wants to be with by singing lyrics like “Come get me, I’m standing outside your door. And lately, baby, I miss you like nobody.” It feels like a favorite trope of ours known as “friends to lovers”. The beat is so incredibly catchy with a sound in the back of the mix that feels like bell chimes to further brighten the sound.

FEVERS’ single “French Vanilla” is one of the dynamic singles off of her debut album “Chambord”! The vibe of this song is almost flirtatious, and feels like you’re stuck in a love triangle where one of you has got to go. We’re loving the synth presence and qualities in the instrumentation that create a buzz throughout the mix. The instrumental qualities also created a space that leaves room for FEVERS’ powerful vocal tone. The vocals felt haunting when in her lower register, and expressive once they were more in the middle of her vocal capacity! The reverb used on FEVERS vocal performance opened the space and made it feel like we were listening to her performance in a concert hall!

AJ Smith slams through Spotify with an impressive count of 1.5 million streams!

“We’re All Gonna Die” is AJ Smith’s latest release that we’ve been listening to on repeat. It’s the key anthem to reminding his audience that you should live life to the fullest and make the most of the time you might unknowingly have left. The song is short and sweet with a run time of 2 minutes and 35 seconds. You could say that it was done on purpose to further represent the feeling of having too little time, and we think that’s some pretty great symbolism. There are some really cool video game sounding synths in the back of the mix that sounds fun and innovative! It’s adds an awesome sense of personality that we’ve been loving!

We’re loving Auseeuh’s relatable single “LIAB”, short for “Life Is A Bitch”. Our favorite part of the track is the harmonies and synth chimes she adds to her vocal performance. It adds a really nice level of sweetness and shine to the top of the mix, with some gentle and smooth acoustic themes! We love the vulnerability Auseeuh shares in her lyrics and overall message. With detailing lyrics like “Playin the victim like it’s an addiction, I can’t face reality”, it easily reminds us that we can get stuck in a cycle of life letting us down. Sometimes life can be tough and most times we might not know how to handle it other than just move on!

"Wouldn't life be great without this drama?"

“Drama” by AJ Smith is what we like to consider a perfect song. The production quality of the song is quite incredible and there’s a clear sense of professionalism that makes the song just that much better. Smith does a great job at combining different tempos throughout the mix and making what can only be described as an anthem. The way the song builds in anticipation and execution demanded our attention, and we can’t help but scream the lyrics of the chorus, specifically! The storyline follows the betrayal of an ex best friend and an ex getting married, which in all honesty sucks. This opened up the range of emotions needed to create a “must-listen” ambience and wow, it did not disappoint. Smith’s vocals are amazing and so full of passion and conviction that you can feel the emotional value that his lyrics bring to the performance. He truly gave his all to this vocal performance and made sure to utilize all aspects and range of his vocals! We can’t wait to continue listening to this talented artist!

"You" is uniquely smooth and has such a beautiful acoustic presence with some added bass guitar chords. Not only is her voice mesmerizing, but she also delivers a near perfect (if not, perfect) vocal performance alongside the gentle, coffee shops vibes of the instrumentation. Jaynes’ vocal tone feels passionate and kind, and the flow of the song really helps draw out the emotional value to this song. One of the notable lyrics in this single is “It’s getting harder to make excuses while it should’ve been me and you” which we interpret as what it might feel like to go through a breakup for a relationship you just did not want to end.

Enter your bad bitch, villain era with AMEL ROSE

Amel Rose brings the heat with her new single “Groupie”. This track gives off undeniably ethereal pop vibes with a mix of powerful lyrics throughout the course of the song. Rose is going through various emotions in this track, a lot of which stems from a realization that she wants to empower herself and get over her expired relationship. “Raindrops on rose petals feeling like spring, cold-shouldered convos held me on a string” Rose exclaims, implying that sometimes it’s tough to separate yourself from your other in a relationship. This relationship she details sounds like they were treating her more like a groupie than a girlfriend, and like Rose, we don’t stand for it.
