ok so denji ramble

in chainsaw man there r scenes where denji is put in the position where he could be sexually inappropriate with someone who is not in the right mind to consent. the thing about these scenes is that for context denji is a victim and there is no one in his life that could have possibly taught him not just the importance of consent but also that the situations he has been in are wrong and traumatizing. all he has known love to be is sex whether its consensual or not. so in those scenes where denji considers having sex but doesnt shows how pure his heart is because in his mind everything that was done to him is ok because he hasnt had the chance to process any of it and denial is a very common trauma response so he could have just thought that is how sex is but he still chooses to respect other people’s autonomy.

the thing about those scenes is that it goes to show how young and naive denji is because hes just trying to explore normal teen emotions but he cant because hes always being killed or manipulated and it makes meso sad because like hes such a sweet kid

obviously consent is the bare minimum and everyone knows that but denji has been thru so much that his perspective on what love is is so jumbled up that the fact that he still has good morals and values is so important

which is why i hate that people call csm a gooner anime when its not its a complex portrayal of a traumatized teenager
