For the next few weeks I will be posting for my Interactivity Basics class. My assignment is to post good and bad examples of UX.

final week 12 of Good and Bad UX.

The first is an example of Bad UX, Hulu is a great platform but when it comes to putting their shows in categories it has a minimum of options. Also when you want to look at your account and change something you have to log on to the desktop version. Would be nice to be able to do all that in the app. 

The second is a good example of Good UX, Amazon Prime has vast categories, which do help in the selection of content. Also you can access account info and change it  all within the app unlike Hulu.

Final Week 11 of Good and Bad UX!

The first is an example of Good UX. Hobby Lobby has a simple hierarchy that is simple to follow. It doesn’t seem cluttered, its clean, and I like how it has a ‘shop by department’ with sliders instead of stacking them in to a grid.

The second is an example of Bad UX. Michaels a great place to shop, but their website seems to cluttered, like it has a lot going on. I do like how their navigation is at the top, but it seems to have too much at the top.

Week 10 of Good and Bad UX!

The first is an example of Good UX, its layout is easy to follow. Its navigation bar is clearly spotted at the top and its categories to its left. Has great conventions and blank space.

The second is an example of Bad UX, it has a great layout but the white font color clashes with it self and it would be nice if the temperature numbers had a different color than the time. It would help open up the layout and help spot each section.

Week 9 of Good and Bad UX!

The first is an example of Good UX, Bank of America has a great app for mobile that has well organized layouts that are easy to manage. And its notifications and alerts are spot on when someone uses your card.

The second is an example of Bad UX. It has a great layout but you would think the dates provided were the appointments you have in the future. It turns out this is just a list of things your pet needs. It would have been better if it did not lay out the info as if it was a set appointment calendar.

Week 8 of Good and Bad UX!

The Left is an example of Good UX and UI. The suggestions at top are nice especially when you run out things to watch. The layout is also easy to follow, and navigate. 

The Right is an example of Bad UX and UI. Don’t get me wrong it has a great layout but when it comes to Shuffling songs. It tends to replay the ones you favorite, after a while you can guess what shuffle its playing. Also the recently added only shows by albums, it would be nice to listen to all of the recently added as a playlist.

Week 7 of Good and Bad UX design. 

The first is an example of Good UX, simple to find albums, songs, all in an organized hierarchy. Good choice of color pallet, the font does not fade away with the white background.

The second is an example of Bad UX. It has a great organizational hierarchy but the color pallet is way off. The background makes it hard to read the artist name and song title. Spotify should use green for their fonts, to help make the fonts pop out and make them easy to read and spot.

Week 6 of Good and Bad UX design. 

The first is an example of Bad UX, I know its a font site but the navigation seems to cluttered, and hard to focus on finding the search bar. 

The second is an example of good UX design, its categorized icons help keep bookmarks all in one place. Helpful in finding sites you use regularly.

Week 5 of Good and Bad UX!

First pic is an example of good UX, I like how they took the time to create individual profiles and took into consideration of how many family members there are. Also as soon as you open the app, immediately you see the who’s watching screen, which is great when you want to find something fast. 

Second pic is an example of Bad UX, horrible handheld posture. After a few minutes of continual use, your hands start to fall asleep, its like they designed this for little kids hands. Having to pay $20 extra for an ergonomic controller to add to the switch. I would say next time consider the continual use of the handheld and make sure its comfortable for users. At lest include the ergonomic controller with the device for portable use.

Week 4 of Good and Bad examples of UX.

The first image is a great example of good UX, it has a solid visual hierarchy, with a white foregorund, that suround the images into their own category box.

The next two are bad examples of UX, to see their menu it takes you to the internet, and opens their menu on thier desktop site, and its in portarit mode, To see all of the menu you have to rotate your phone, it should have a clear indication of rotaitng icon on site. It also should take you out of the app to see their menu, that should be embeded into the app.

Week 3 of Good UX and Bad UX

The first is an example of Bad UX, well User Interface but also UX. When you open the Andy’s app, you are asked to login/sign-up, its a bit confusing. After a few taps, I realized you have to tap between the two images below to either log in or sign up. 

The second is an example of Good UX, Physical design. Its portable, has all of the knobs you need to tweak the sounds. The designers also took the time to label the buttons, making it easier to figure out what you are pressing. Also great it has enough keys on the key board to hear the major chords of the instrument.

Week 2 of Good UX and Bad UX!

Starting with the first two, its a tablet stand for drawing and let me just say its stable. The developers really thought about ergonomic height, and its portable. 

The third is an example of Bad UX, lets face it PS4 really didn’t think through with the power and eject buttons. While taking this image I just reallised the buttons have symbols; poor indication really. They should have included the symbols with color, noticable to the eye.
