Everybody always on that Top Shiro pining over Lance and that’s good and valid but consider pining Bottom Shiro thirsting.

- Like, Shiro really just wants Lance to raw him and then cuddle afterwards

-Lance being kinda oblivious at first wondering why Shiro gets so flustered and seems to remember himself and ultra-projects “Black Paladin” when really he gets ahem distracted by Lance taking charge and it… frustrates him.

-Shiro has always been jealous when Lance flirts with people but he tried to calm down about it. Really instead of just trying to squash it, he starts being petty.

Some alien is like “Lance, you’re so handsome-” and Shiro cuts in like “Yeah, sure is. Lance can I talk to you?” And Lance is caught off guard and maybe thinks he’s gonna get scolded but Shiro just asks his opinion on this or that and the conversation spirals into different topics until they slowly start to really know and understand eachother (because this happens a lot ). Lance is still kinda confused but Pidge and Hunk are Not Fooled.

- Lance takes it upon himself to take care of Shiro. Lance is a nurturing person. He can cook although he doesn’t have the ingredients he had in Cuba so sometimes he’ll have Hunk explain what certain foods do whenever theyre on planet so Lance can whip something up if Hunk isn’t there. He likes for ppl to be well rested and relaxed and he knits like nobody’s business. Cue Shiro being fed more than usual and gaining some weight. He’s still muscular and strong under the fat but he’s thicc with a lil tummy. Lance is very proud of himself when he sees the beginning of new stretch marks on Shiro in the communal showers. Lance knows Shiro has trouble sleeping so he makes him a soft playlist of alien and earth music he’s compiled to sooth him to sleep. He also knits Shiro a blanket. Shiro never sleeps without it. He was attracted to Lance before but now he’s really in love because Lance is so attentive and sweet.

-Lance is starting to figure things out. He thinks Shiro might like him. Shiro stares at him a lot and gets blushy when he gets caught. He’s been spending more time with Lance and he’s more tactile and lingering. And Lance would be lying if he said he wasn’t blooming under Shiro’s attention. Shiro is protective and lately his praises seem to spill out before Shiro could reign them in. It satisfies a dark hunger inside of Lance and he fully intends to respond in kind if his suspicions are correct.

“Hunk, I think Shiro is into me.”

Hunk just stares at him blankly.

“Water wets things.”

“What?”

“Oh, sorry, I thought we were stating the obvious.”

That bolsters Lance’s confidence. If Hunk sees it, then it must be. But he still wants to test the waters with this new dynamic he and Shiro have built up. So he starts being more flirty and watching Shiro closely. Shiro basically trips over himself.

Ha, cute.

Lance is a romantic, though, and he’s not gonna let the poor man pine forever when his feelings are more than requited. But he’s also not about to rush it and ruin things. He starts casually getting into Shiro’s space and showing him affection and Shiro is glowing even while he’s frozen in place. He doesn’t want to move.

Now Lance is sure that maybe this can work. But needs SHIRO to be sure.

So they’re finishing up sparring on day. Lance is really improving under Shiro’s instruction and Shiro is so proud and its hot to him that Lance can hold his own better and make Shiro have to put in real effort to win. And he’s not even mad whem he loses a match. It means Lance will be safer in battle and that puts Shiro more at ease.

But they’re settling down and walking into the showers when Lance notices Shiro purposely avoid looking at him as they strip.

Lance tries but he fails to hide his grin.

“Shiro?”

Shiro hums in acknowledgment but doesn’t turn around.

Lance stifles a chuckle and decides: fuck it.

“Shiro do you love me?”

Shiro freezes.

“I- what?”

Lance isn’t gonna have this conversation with Shiro’s back so he circles around until he’s in front of him and Shiro’s face is red, his blush going down to his chest.

Aww…

“Do you love me? As in… do you want to be with me?”

Shiro gulps and doesn’t answer for a moment. Lance considers the fact that he hasn’t immediately denied it a win.

He does answer though.

“What if I did?”

Lance smirks.

“Then I’d want you to know the feeling is entirely mutual.”

Shiro seems shocked.

“Wait….really?”

“Yes, really you big beautiful dummy.”

Shiro’s heart soars.

“You…”

“Love you? Yeah.”

“You love… I’ve loved you for so lo- and- you love me…”

Lamce takes his face into his hands and kisses him deep and slow and Shiro just melts and let’s Lance push him back until his back hits the wall. Lance gasps when Shiro instinctively wraps a leg around Lance to keep him in place. Shiro shivers when Lance gives him a dark look and grinds his hips forward, enjoying the view as Shiro throws his head back.

“So it’s like that then?”

-Shiro definitely goes to breakfast walking funny the next day and Lance is smug as a bug. But they’re happy. They fell asleep and woke up in eachother’s arms and they think maybe now, out in space this is what home feels like.

Don’t think of Keith dripping wet from the pool, or with his shirt off after training or in his tight BOM suit smirking and winking at Lance... 😏

Also definitely don’t think of Keith, older, taller, bigger — (after coming back from the space whale) — all sleep ruffled with his hair up. Only sweatpants on and answering the door when Lance knocks. Fondly saying, “Lance?” in that deeper, gravely voice he gets after sleeping ...

And don’t think about the way Keith might lean against the doorframe, taller than Lance now, lean and fit and wow have his eyes always been that pretty?

The smirk he’d get when Lance just stands there, forgetting what he was going to ask Keith in the first place

Keith looking down at Lance through his lashes and murmering, “wanna come in?” stepping back — grinning when he sees Lance gulp and nod, following Keith back into his room like he’s in a trance.

And lance still hasn’t spoken but that’s okay because Keith is taking his hand - not nervous about the contact because he missed Lance for those two years. He figured some important things out. Realized the importance of taking a chance while you had it...drawing Lance into a hug and Lance thinks, he doesn’t care what he came for because this is what he needed - this was what the two of them had been dancing around since that first day...

Whatever you do, don’t think of Keith tracing his eyes and hands up Lances arms, shoulders, neck — to his cheek, tracing Lances cheekbones with his thumb — noticing how he still looks the same. Still has the same freckles, eyes like the ocean and a blush Keith had always liked teasing out of him. Two years for Keith and Lance is just as pretty, as strong, just as much a force of nature as the last time they’d seen each other.

Don’t think about Lance leaning into it, closing his eyes and thinking finally as time turns to syrup and they finally, finally meet in the middle - lips finding each other, bodies fitting like puzzle pieces, finally at rest.

Whatever you do, don’t think about them falling asleep in each others arms, warm and feeling safe and hopeful for the first time in a long time. 😌💕

Did you ever look at someone and think: "Wow they're so pretty I just want to hide that beauty from everyone else and just admire it alone". If you ever had that you can understand how Shiro feel in this moment. He looked at Lance dancing with the aliens with his eyes sparks with joy and happy smile. Takashi was ready to grab Lance and hide him from the outside world and kiss his face saying sweet nothings to Lance's ears while cuddling. He was a little happier that he was the only Paladain to see younger male like this. For him it's like Gods blessing that they split on that wormhole after Zarkon's attack. He know that they have a lot to worry about but right now they can have a little break. They all deserve a little break and he will enjoy his with Lance look like the most beautiful person in this planet or even in all universe in Shiro's opinion.
