Weird Books I Found At Work

I post pictures of some of the interesting materials I stumble upon in the process of doing my job at my local public library.Proud member of AFSCME ✊.

Everyone and their mother is reading the Dungeon Crawler Carl series at the moment. Nothing wrong with that. My own wife is reading them, and seems to be enjoying them quite a bit. Our girlfriend might start reading them soon.

It’s interesting to watch a book series that’s been out for several years start to peak in popularity now, leading my library to buy copies for my bookmobile several years after they were published.

Anyway my biggest issue with this is that, while I’ve never had a speech impediment per se, I’ve also always had trouble with words with too many L’s or R’s in succession. Which means I cannot, unless I fully stop my utterance and proceed at like half-speed, pronounce the words “Crawler Carl”

Saw someone on Reddit asking what the requirements are for going to the library. Not to get a card and check stuff out. Just to hang out there. I don't mean to make fun of the poster for not knowing. I blame capitalism and the reduction of third spaces for making the idea of being able to just exist in a free public space seem like a strange concept to people. Anyway. This inspired a meme.

There’s a whole series of these; they’re all at least this bad. The premise and the artwork send up so many red flags for me it’s not even funny. Maybe I’m too internet-poisoned but like, this has gotta be fetish art, right? This is like looking at an innocuous Shadman drawing and knowing that it’s much worse than it appears on the surface. Deeply disturbing.
