A and B have just started officially dating after years of pining over one another, so A wants to make a great impression… unfortunately their shitty immune system has other ideas.
B shows up to the restaurant 10 minutes early and sits on a bench outside to wait for A when suddenly they hear:
They turn their head to see A opening the door to the restaurant, so preoccupied with their nose they don’t even see B sitting there waiting for them.
B follows A inside as they go up to the host stand.
“I have a reservadtion at seved PMb for ____” A turns to the side to cough into their fist raggedly.
“I’m sorry sir/ma’am, but I don’t see a reservation at seven for ____. Is it possible it could be under a different name?” The hostess says politely.
B secretly continues to stand behind A and watches as A rubs the bridge of their nose in frustration. “Ndo, it would defiditely be udder ____.” They sigh, “My partder is godda be here in like five mbidutes, is there adyway you cad fit us ih-h’nGXt! …ind?” A pleads.
“The wait would be about 45 minutes…” The hostess says sheepishly. “I’m very sorry.”
“A!” B calls their attention. A visibly relaxes at the sight of B and goes over to hug them. B pulls away from the hug and takes a look at A’s face.
“You don’t look well…” B says, voice dripping with concern.
“Heh… gee thadks. You look great by the way.” A smiles at B, but then their smile fades. “I’b sorry but I thidk I mbessed up our reservadtions.” A looks at B like a kicked puppy.
“Oh, A.” B sighs and cups a hand around A’s face. “Who cares about this stupid restaurant anyways!” B turns to the hostess and mouths “no offense.” They turn back to A, “What you really need is some Nyquil and a good night’s rest. We can go out another day.”
“….But I wadted thiggs to be perfect for tonight. It’s only our second real date…” A looks down at the floor.
“Oh you’re so silly. I’ve known you for years it wouldn’t matter if this was our 800th date. Come on, let’s go home. I’m sure I can treat you to something even better than dinner when we’re all alone…” B says, grabbing A’s arm.
