I was baffled so I had to look it up but yeah, it IS in fact a real fucking beetle (possibly Hololepta aequalis just by looking at them but I could very well be wrong bc i don't know shit about this family)

EARWIG APPRECIATION POST!

Earwigs get a bad rap for thier name and scary appearance but I love earwigs I wanna appreciate them.

You see these wings they are an amazing feat of nature thier folding mechanics are so complex and intuitive. They are called earwigs because of the shape of their wings they do not wig into ears.

Earwig nymph look at that little baby awwwww just a little guy.

What a good bug I love them thier ancestors appeared around 208 million years ago they are a perfect bug beautiful and sweet.

I found this low quality gif look at them switch between two frames watch them dance!!

night bug. not my pattern but i improv'd some tweaks to have more uninterrupted areas of plaid / correct direction of pattern on legs. & i am making cushions to sit on so i didn't fuss about matching points too much (butts cannot see)
